Cinema was the only way this movie should be seen. Stunning cinematography. Been waiting to see if Lubezki wants to do anything more.
Re-watched it on 60" and it was far inferior. Writing really holds it back.

Basically, another boring revenge porn film. But instead of a typical 'Liam Neeson' urban setting the protagonist faces the great (and yes, admittedly very pretty) outdoors.
As a viewer, wading through the depths of this film barely left a damp residue on the soles of my feet.
For an interesting comparison, of a film set in icy wilderness, with themes of man's struggle - with himself, with the savagery of the world, and with the inevitable emergence of the new, try watching Dersu Uzala. You may come back and thank me for pointing you in the direction of a vastly superior viewing experience. (Even on a scratchy, grainy VHS tape.)
You sound like one of those movies critics on rotten tomatoes that gives every mainstream film a bad rep.

Word of warning for those that haven't seen it..the classification board wasn't joking when it said "strong bloody violence"!
original version of soldier blue has the seventh cavalry waving indian babies above their heads on sabres… now that was sickening..
Definitely would have been if they included that. Some scenes which were tough to stomach and I was somewhat surprised it didn't get a higher classification rating.
most versions have the scenes removed these days …
