But AU teams are pretty good compared to international teams anyway. So the local matches between top Aussie teams are of the same calibre as international games. We've been lucky to have this in CS:GO. In other games, not so much, like our Dota 2 teams in Australia are nowhere near as good as international teams.
Can't complain about free but "The final will be played between two of the best Counter-Strike teams in Australia, team Dynasty and Obsidium" is pretty misleading, both teams aren't even in the top 10 of Australia.
Not really, the rankings aren't always accurate. Dynasty are very comparable to Chiefs. They recently took 14 rounds off them in a tournament. Their rankings are low because they're a new team. Obsidium is in the same boat, their players are also really young.
Oh i love esports events!! Wish the finals were in Sydney :(
LOL, you can't complain. All the CS:GO big events are in Sydney. It's the Melbourne fans that miss out on all the fun.
True true…. being greedy :) last one I went was the gfinity. …
"Two of the best" - that is highly questionable.
Wear a flack jacket. Just in case.
Anyone got a couple of tickets before reading anything else and actually not gonna go? XD ill take them off you
See you in 20 years when its the most watched Olympic sport
Beats watching people try to hit a ball, while getting sunburn…
Maybe not…
Actually, while I don't mind esports, it's more a YouTube thing for me. Going to an actual event sounds like torture to me…
Also can't see me watching it with mates while drinking unholy amounts of beer.
Brb, need to rethink life
Is this sitting in a room watching others play video games?
Yep. Very comparable to sitting in your lounge room watching other people play rugby league.
No, its comparable to going to an indoor stadium to watch people do sports.
Not really, it's like going to a stadium and watching the game on a jumbotron, because you can't see past the guy sitting in front of you.
Except in this case, the guy sitting in front of you is playing the actual event..
I'm not sure I understand why people would go to this. Unlike traditional sports, you aren't actually watching people play the game - you're likely watching a game on TV which is being played by guys you can watch, but won't, because they are sitting down watching a TV…
if anyone interested in going, I have 2 gen. admission tickets for free. PM if interested.
Pity the AU scene lacks internationally competitive teams… IEM Sydney is as good as it gets.
