[VIC] Korean Buffet Weekday Lunch $18.90 Mon-Thurs Dinner $21.90 @ Miss Korea Kitchen 288 (Nunawading)

1320

In spirit of all of the other recent buffet posts, I have persuaded the owners to bring the price down for their weekday buffet specials.

Although a few more dollars more than the recent ad from Brisbane, there is no time limit associated with the sit downs.

Lunch

$22.80 —> $18.90 pp Mon - Fri (12:00 ~ 15:00)
$24.80 —> $21.90 pp Sat - Sun (12:00 ~ 15:00)

Dinner

$29.80 —> $21.90 pp Mon - Thu (17:30 ~ 22:00)
$39.80 —> $24.90 pp Fri - Sun (17:30 ~ 22:00)

FYI:

  • Large pitcher jugs of soft drink are also available for $4.50 a jug (just mention it before ordering).
  • Bookings are highly recommended if you are going as a group of 4 or more especially during the weekends.
  • Under 3's eat free, 3-10 year old $13 (both lunch and dinner)

I guess everything is subjective and its a shame you are commenting based on price along rather than quality / quantity of food available!

Tell that to me and my Maccas app deal addiction

      • No, they don't serve any SPAM

So they're not a genuine Korean restaurant then..

One of my favourite Korean dishes is Budae Jjigae

        • +6

          Nice!

This is their third venture and their first two are pretty famous in Melbourne for their Army Stew (Darac + Miss Korea Camberwell)!

Budae Jjigae will be on a separate a-la-carte menu hopefully when things settle (we have only been open for a few months in Nunawading).

are the meats fresh or frozen?

    • -5

      Hopefully cooked

      • +2

Foods are great, dinner was little costly before.

As a Korean, foods are really nice and worth the money you pay especially as lowered pricing.

        • -1

Still too expensive for a family of four, especially when the kids won't eat much…

Not sure why they consider an 11 year old an adult? Most restaurants offer kids meals until they are over 12…

    • +2

      Hi allan37825,

This isn't a Korean BBQ buffet where you cook your own meat.

Meat is actually cooked for you in the kitchen and the wood oven and served on the spot along with a selection of around 25-35 dishes.

      Hope that helps.

  • +2

OP, mind sharing the menu on what's included? Also, how much for children? age cut off?

  • +6

    Hi ykwon10,

For children under 3 (free), and up to 10 years old its $13 (lunch and dinner).

Menu changes every day but typically you will have:

    7-8 Korean side dishes
4-5 selection of meat based dishes
4-5 different selection of fried tempura
    2-3 different soups / broths
    2-3 different kimbab / sushi
3-4 traditional korean dishes such as rice cakes / japchae etc.
3-4 different Fruit + desert options

There is more but that is just off the top of my head atm..

Check out their FB page where they have a video / photo posted of some of their food.

    • Will child need ID/proof of age?

I have had Miss Korea before and it was delicious!
But then I already love Korean food so I am a bit biased

    • +1

Thanks so much for the positive feedback :)

      Greatly appreciated!

p.s. Were you referring to our Camberwell restaurant or this new shop?

      • Camberwell
Please open one in Carnegie if you can :)

        • One Korean restaurant at a time :)

p.s. Send me a private PM and I'll be happy to shout you a beer / glass of house wine next time you visit either of our two restaurants!

    • +1

I have had Miss Korea before

      Now you're just bragging…

    • Point taken.

      Thx!

Thanks OP! but after reading all the comments I am so sorry there's someone in Melbourne still argues with this deal. WE Melburnians are nice people.

    • +10

I've been on OzBargain (and Melbourne) long enough to know jv doesn't mean (too much) harm :D

  • Hi OP, how long is this deal valid for?

    • +3

      Hi CottonCaramel,

We are looking to run this for the next month or so (21st of Oct)!

  • Be good to know in advance, if possible, what dishes you plan to serve each day. I'm looking for fried chicken :)

    • Hi weekbok15,

Menus depend on the cuts of meat that are available as well as the quality of veges we can pick up from the markets on a day to day basis.

In saying that, we have fried chicken (and wings) EVERY day that you can eat to your hearts desire.

We also have Korean beer on tap as well (separate charge) if you enjoy chi-mak :)

  • -2

    North or South Korean?

    • +6

they dont have food in the north .. let alone buffets.

      • I just want to know if I can steal a banner without ending up in a gulag.

        • +2

Koreans share 5000 years worth of history meaning that most of the foods that North and South Koreans eat are similar because the recipe's and menu's are from the same imperial cook books.

Traditional Korean foods such as buckwheat cold noodles, dumplings, marinated beef etc. actually originate from provinces in North Korea and are considered delicacies in the South.

        • End up in jail maybe.

depends on the mood of the great leader

I will call you for booking 3 people on Sunday night

    • Looking forward to seeing you soon taotao007!

  • Are children over 10 adult price?

    • +4

      Depends on their marbling.

    • Hi Minnie,

Yes - children over 10 are charged at the full price.

    • +1

Are children over 10 adult price?

If it's the store at Brand Smart, you can just let the kids run around outside and save your money.

Some feedback from lunch with Miss Korea recently:

    1) I went at 1PM and the food that was coming out was definitely slowing down, many people were just walking around looking for hot food because everything was starting to get cold.

    2) The food was really good when it was hot, but for a buffet there should be more variety, I noticed a whole row that was empty next to the ice cream that felt like it could have had food on it.

    3) Fried chicken was plain and had sauces next to it so you could choose its flavour. Usually preflavored chicken is better.

    • +1

      Hi there

Thanks so much for the feedback!

We are trying our best with keeping the food warm (we just recently upgraded to electric self heat trays) and our chefs are working on trying to find ways to get food-to-order so it doesn't go cold.

As for the food variety, there are some major changes coming soon so please follow-us on FB for updates!

Appreciate your comments once again and I am glad you enjoyed the food (when it wasn't cooling off).

      • +3

        Thanks for answering.

My goal was to provide feedback for you to keep on succeeding. I'm a local so I'm very interested in you guys doing well.

        • Appreciate your words of support and yes, I agree with all of the points you have raised and have been working with the rest of the team to make sure they are resolved!

  • Hi OP,

What are the vegetarian options available?

Or is Korean food primarily meat based?

    Thanks

    • Hi movieman,

We have a selection of vegetarian options incl. tofu / vege dumplings / all of our side dishes / bibimbab etc.

If you want to call us on the day you wish to visit, we'll be happy to confirm the vegetarian options with you for that particular day!

  • +1

HI OP - thanks for the heads up, may try on the weekend - Im pretty local so always looking for good options in the East of Melbourne.
Any idea if there are many options that are Vegan AND/OR Soy free? (Wife is breast feeding a baby who doesnt seem to like Dairy, Soy, Egg…..urgh)

    • +2

      Hi cjb,

All of our side dishes (kimchi, bean sprout, spinach etc) are all vegan / soy free as well as some of our other dishes.

There are also fresh vege's for ssam (korean wrap) and ingredients / sauces to make your own bibimbap as well!

Once again, call us in advance to confirm the menu and we'll be happy to let you know the options on the day!

  • Any specials for the Camberwell restaurant? Nunawading is a bit far for me.

    • Hi Mrnacho,

Our Camberwell restaurant doesn't do AYCE menus unfortunately :(

However, feel free to check out our menu (for Camberwell) on our website and let me know what may be of interest to you and I'll see what I can do :)
      http://www.misskorea.com.au/

      • Sorry for the late reply. Definitely the k-bbq, bulgogi and the Korean fried chicken. Any specials on that?

      • I drove past box hill and swear Isaw a building on the corner that said Miss Korea

        • Yes i googled it - there is defo a Miss Korea in Box Hill.
          Must be a different group?

  • +2

I love the restaurant and really enjoyed.
I have been promoting to people that I'm belonging, I shared this price change to my social group of little less than 200 people.

I found that Week day is not Including Friday, It could be really great to include this price on Friday.
It will be celebration of our special moment for my family and really wish to have it today.

please update the heading if week day deal is limited between Monday and Thursday only.

    • +2

      Hi there LOVEMELBOURNE,

Thank you for your kind words and appreciate you spreading the word!

'Weekdays' now include up to Friday Lunch as well, although Friday dinners are still charged @ weekend rates.

However, as you can see from our ad we have dropped the prices considerably for our weekend dinners so hopefully that will make up for it!

      감사합니다 :)

      • Oh .. no..

I just couldn't leave my work to go for lunch.

I'm going this evening, it will be celebration of our long delayed family task completion finally this week,

I feel it's little too much to ask to include Friday dinner right?

or…Would you want to do trial only for today?

Nevermind me if it's too much.

I registered Miss Korea 288 in Google map as a local guide and I'm big fan of Miss Korea 288,

I'm glad new updated lower price and I love to see Korean restaurant utilize of Ozbargain, great thought boss~!

I hope Miss Korea 288 will continue great success in Nunawading and will open few franchise in few years time.

  • Is corn tea available and included?

    • Hi kumak,

Yes, corn tea (I am assuming you are referring to bori-cha 보리차) is available although I will have to check if its included in the new cost.

      • No, I was referring to Oksusu-cha (옥수수차).
        Anyway, I don't mind bori-cha

Please let me know if any of them is included.

If not, what drinks are included in buffet?

        • Hi kumak,

I am currently off site and it seems as though its super busy at the restaurant as I haven't had a reply back in regards to your enquiry!

Will get back to you as soon as I hear back but I am 90% confident that corn-team (옥수수차) is still included for free (along with water and 보리차).

Alternatively, there are $4.50 large jugs of soft drink available if that works better.

        • @ev3nfl0w:

They are telling me it's $9.90 for a jug of soft drink. I am eating here now

        • @edrift:

          Hi edrift,

So sorry about that and it seems as though some of the casual staff members weren't updated with the pricing yesterday..

I have had a few people comment on this but if you show had shown them this ad yesterday, you should have been billed accordingly.

        • @ev3nfl0w:

          Dammit… Looks like I got ripped off…

        • @edrift: Sorry to hear that edrift.. Check your PM if you get a chance!

        • @ev3nfl0w:

          Thanks

  • Camberwell too?
