Are you done trolling? This thread is about good clearance pricing on original iPads. It's not an Android vs iOS soapbox.

Why does anyone with an opinion automatically become a troll?
Edit: I was pointing out that iPad should have a more tablet-friendly UI and that it's not a post pc device as it's claimed to be. Mods: Please don't delete every post unnecessarily. Granted the last one I made deserved a deletion.

Why is it that all those have an opinion on the ipad and Apple rather than the deal itself. Dont you have anything else to do???

  • $349 would be better, no point buyin a old model for just $50 cheaper.
I will wait and i reckon it's not a BARGAIN.

    • At $449 the base model "old" iPad will still be around $100 cheaper than the equivalent iPad 2.

Don't forget that until last night, a new 16GB WiFi iPad was $180 more expensive than it was this morning. You couldn't even buy a second-hand 16GB iPad for $449 then. We're going to be seeing a lot of sub-$400 iPads on the used market soon, though, so you won't have to wait long to pay $349.

    • 1 or 2 cases i can understand, but 5?

      • Lol yeah I kind of have an addiction with cases on my gadgets. I go a few months, get bored of the case and get a new one.

  • Talked the JB Hi-Fi guy down to $395 for the 16gb Wifi version.

I was however buying a TV & Blu-ray player as well, so YMMV.

Keep in mind guys, there is the POSSIBILITY that the iPad 2 prices in Australia will be lower (than the original iPad before this price drop) when the prices are announced. It's no guarantee, but the entry level MacBook Pro has gone down by $50 on two occasions ($1499 to $1399) within the past six months.

  • If IPAD 1 has a camera… who will move to IPAD 2? this is the only thing useful for me.

Who else is sick of android fanbois to come every apple deal and troll?

    • shrug I use Android but think the iPad's the bests tablet on the market hands down. The question is whether I think it's worth the money and right now it's no. The problem is pixel density, iPad just irks me. If the one they just announced came with a Retina-ish display, I'd order it instantly.

We're all supposed to be fans of gadgets here.

So what other products have a retina display besides the iphone4?, and are they Tablets?

      • Everyone shouting about a Retina display for the iPad need stop to think it through for a second.

Can you imagine the processing power needed to render an entire iPad screen in retina? The iPad 2 still has the same specs as the iPhone 4, so there's no way it could run Retina without a massive hardware upgrade, which in turn would drive the price up considerably.

      • O RLY?
heard of HTC Flyer/Motorola Xoom ( you must have, you use android)

Personally there is no best tablet as such, just tablets suitable for different types of users. As a student, I would definitely buy the HTC with its awesome note taking software over the iPad any day.

        oh and I read http://scoopertino.com/

  • oh geez they must be losing heaps of money now that they announced a new one since its at this new price!? OMG! ;)

Not a good enough saving for what you get. wait for the new ipad if you really want one - its not that long a wait

  • Since ipad2 was out , I dont know what to do with buy 'old' iPad ? Probably going to eBay soon ;-)

Less than 1 year after release and it's now considered to be the 'old model'. Don't people get pissed off when something they buy becomes inferior so quickly? That's Apple I guess..

how has the release of the new iPad 2 affected the performance and functionality of your current iPad ?

      • Agreed.

Yes, I would like the extra speed of iPad 2, especially for the graphics …, but we'll still have the same fun reading our ebooks and playing games among over 900 apps, so many of which are free, on the highly desirable original.

  • I might not know much, but if I were a certain Mr Steve Jobs, I would release an iPad yearly, +- a month for supply issues I guess. But hey, I could be wrong about Apple marketing ideals. :P

You do realise most tech is out of date after a year right?

    • +1

my bank doesn't seem to think so…

they keep their charges up-to-date though :)

  • Dick Smith seemed to be matching these prices instore tonight.

  • wonder if BigW will now drop prices?
