    code is also valid at onlinetravelinsurance.com.au, although it only gives 15% off, that site may give you cheaper prices, worth a comparison.

      onlinetravelinsurance is underwritten by allianz, so I imagine neither is good. It looks like allianz trying to hide their name.

    No good when it comes to making a claim - personal experience. Icecold5000 had good experience with Southern Cross - they paid out for a claim he made for $800 that was pick pocketed https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/396655 - allianz will not do this.

    I’d avoid Allianz, hard and hassle to make a claim but this is base on my personal experience.

    Please do not go with Allianz Travel Insurance or anyone underwritten by Allianz. I was hospitalised in Thailand and required emergency surgery. The hospital required authorisation from Allianz that they would cover the procedure before they would proceed. We spent hours on hold and calling the Brisbane and international Allianz call centres. In the end my wife and friends needed to get as much cash as possible out of ATM's to make a down payment for the procedure. I was in ICU for several days while my wife battled with Allianz on the phone to pay for the procedure. After 4 days they finally sent an Allianz rep to the hospital to verify my condition and approved the payment to the hospital. Just when we though things couldn't get worse they did. My condition wasn't getting worse and we were not happy with the conditions in the remote Thai hospital so we asked if I could be sent home or to a better hospital in the next major city. Long story short it was another 3 days of lies and hours on the phone for them to agree to pay for the flights home (our original tickets were non refundable). My wife paid for the tickets and we got the next available flight home only to find out later that day that Allianz had reneged the deal (recorded in an email). It took another several months and complaints to finally get them to pay for the flights home and my medication we had to pay for in the hospital out of pocket. Complaining and getting lawyers involved was a waste of time because Allianz did eventually pay for what I was entitled to. They wanted to charge us $15 per recorded phone conversation to prove they were lying to and hanging up on us. If you read the other review about Allianz I feel I got off lightly.
