Ive got one of these for camping. Great unit, pretty happy with it.

    • Great for camping . When back packing he who has an aeropress is a god .

      • haha whoever can make the morning coffee is king of the camp

  • I'v got a Wacaco Nanopresso and it didn't exactly blow my mind. Need to feed a shot of hot water through it first, otherwise your coffee is cold.

Also thought you pump it up, then push a button to release pressure? But its pump the whole time. Need to pump literally as fast as you can to get a good crema.

It was a departure gift from work. Any way to tell if its fake?

    • +1

The NanoPresso here: https://alternativebrewing.com.au/product/wacaco-nanopresso/ is the same as you have visually correct? If it is then I would say it is genuine as fakes have not hit the market yet domestically here.

In terms of pumping, speed is one requirement however the other thing I would recommend is to tamp your coffee just slightly harder, this should allow even with slower pumping to build pressure and get a better shot.

Last note, fresh coffee is key to a crema, if your coffee is 3-4 weeks old it will be difficult. Lots of local cafes will have espresso coffee fresh for sale. Give that a go and hope it helps produce a better shot!

The key is to pump consistently not fast. One pump per second. Actually the most important part is the coffee you put in it. I have one and get excellent results even with nespresso pods when desperate. Sometimes rival my home espresso machine.

  • Why buy this when you can buy a beautiful Italian espresso moka pot :)

    • +1

      Different styles of coffee results!

We do have some stunners here https://alternativebrewing.com.au/product-category/manual-co… and they do make some amazing coffee I agree!

Guess if you're after espresso, Moka Pot or another manual unit. If your after Black coffee, lighter, the AeroPress.

Both great coffee… which everyone needs! :)

Highly recommended. I have bought many of these for presents. I also recommend the Porlex Mini grinder to go with the Aeropress and take both on holidays.

  • Can buy from CoffeeSnobs for $29.50+shipping ($11.25 Fastway to me) and in the description it says it's the latest model. Had been ~$41 shipped for a long time IIRC, since I last looked they changed it to separate shipping (which could be considered better anyways if you wanted to buy something else as well).

    • Ive had a look at it, I know it does say latest but that colour being much lighter is one model ago, changed around 3-4 months ago. But still great unit!

  • Cheaper to buy Aeropress and metal filter separately than in the bundle? XD

    • Now it is with this crazy price you're right! haha Bargain LOL

  • Has anyone matched the handpresso auto with a portable 240v to 12v adapter? Surely that would be a killer combo?

  • +1

    $43.56 shipped with PENNY5 at https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Latest-Design-Aeropress-Model-Co…

    Very close though.

    • Cheers, that's even better with a metal filter bundle at $56.48 delivered!

      • +5

Happy to match! If you want :)

        • Dang, totally would have, but already pulled the trigger with the ebay coupon, have an upvote consolation though for all your attention to comments here!

        • What does the metal filter offer.

        • @kulprit: The filter is just reusable which allows you to minimise on paper, it also allows more oils to come into the cup. Best one is the Ten Mile, great value https://alternativebrewing.com.au/product/ten-mile-stainless…

          Hope that helps!

        • @kulprit: Better crema and lets coffee oils through, rather than being filtered out by the paper.

I have one, but the ease of ejecting the waste coffee puck wih the paper filter into the bin is hard to beat I reckon, especially when making in a caravan on limited water supply.

  • Any chance you can do a deal on the Hario Cold Brew in a Bottle? Great deals so far.

  • Is this all plastic ? What is the best way to brew without using plastic?

  • I got one of these earlier this week on eBay for $43 delivered: https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Genuine-Aeropress-Espresso-Coffe…

    Arrived in two business days.

  • I paid heaps more for mine ages ago, but it's worth every cent. This is only half the recipe though - make sure you hand grind your beans in a ceramic burr grinder (I use a Porlex) for the ultimate coffee experience.

    • *Ultimate filtered coffee experience.

    • worth it in savings rather then $5 at a cafe for coffee right! Glad you enjoy it :)

  • Agree with wolffram above, portable ceramic burr grinder is a great pairing, the porlex s/steel model fits inside the Aeropress like it was made for it, great for travel use

I have the original clear Aeropress, wonder why they tinted the plastic in subsequent models?

UV degradation is the only possible reason I can think of, but wouldn’t have thought that an issue with it.

  • Any deals on hand held grinders op?

  • +1

This good for my Blend 43?

    • +1

hahaha good enough to replace it…. ;P

  • Any idea when the OXO Good Grips Cold Brew Coffee Maker will be back in stock?

  • Have had the Aeropress for years and love it. Went traveling with the metal Able filter and lost it in the hotel room. Do you have a special on this?

  • OP, can you compare the ROK and Flair lever espresso machines?
I like my coffee at the coffee shop as a short long black. More volume than just a single shot.
Are either of the lever models able to hold any more than a tiny single shot?

And how would you compare them for a normal single shot?

    • Hey!

      Absolutely, happy to help.

      Both available here: https://alternativebrewing.com.au/product-category/manual-co…

the ROK is around 10 years old in design now and it makes an okay shot.

The Flair is much newer and its design allows you to honestly drop such an impressive shot its great. If you use nice fresh beans it allows you to get a consistent espresso every time. It has a 60ml volume so like a double shot at your cafe, but the end result due to water retention is around 45ml of a strong espresso which you can add extra water too.

The ROK I would say makes its own espresso, where as the Flair makes the closest thing to a espresso maker you can get on the market.

      Hope that helps

      • Thanks. Maybe worth saving up for.

This rep is mind blowing. Best I’ve seen on ozbargain. You makes others look bad.

gotta love how a coffee deal instantly turns a thread into a coffee geek chat.

      • From one deal, lots of deals grow…. ;P

        • This is getting out of hand level offtopic but World Aeropress Championship 2018 is here in Sydney.

        • @Penpinch: I know! I went to the Queensland one Wednesday… not a worlds but still some great coffee!

    • Can confirm, we have great coffee here keeping us going! Happy to help

  • bought one today. Cheers Rep. used localb to get another $3 off.

    • +1

Happy to help! Enjoy it and have the coffee ready!

  • Would be a sweet deal if shipping wasn't ~30% of the item price.

    • Super sorry! Not a small item to ship, but a great coffee maker :)

  • I can only use sensitive water and I have to know if the coffee beans were happy when they were brewed otherwise this is not organic.

    • Agreed! Both help

  • Quick FYI to anyone considering an Aeropress but new to coffee equipment, this device is mainly for black coffee. Makes a great cup if that's your style, but if you like something more full bodied and you like to add milk then a moka pot might give better results. There are attachments you can add to the Aeropress to increase the pressure but I haven't tried them myself.

  • How much better is AeroPress than a French Press? Does it provide more body/flavour?

    • It provides a much cleaner coffee, thats where you will notice a huge difference. The body of the coffee is a more smooth result due to the brewing process.

      hope that helps!

  • Having just bought an aeropress, how does everyone press? Any particular winning grind-water ratios, times, grind clicks you use? Much difference with the stainless filter?

Also thinking of getting a nanopresso, is it worth it? Currently have a rhinowares grinder and aeropress… breville smart grinder pro on it's way.

    • I just put a scoop it in, fill up the pressy part with water, pour it into the chamber and then press down. I'm lazy.

But yes get a metal filter.

    • My method for brewing is to invert the aeropress, add one heaped scoop of ground coffee, fill to the brim with water, leave for 15-20 seconds, twist on filter (paper), flip onto mug, swivel/swirl over the mug for 20 seconds then press for 20 seconds. I find I get better pressure, no sediment and easier clean up with the paper filter, still use the metal filter for my green tea every day though.
