    • You have 3 days after making the contract where you can call and cancel, If you did want the modem I'm guessing you could just apply again.

      • +3

Ah nah it's fine. I don't have a legit use for it anyway, so would feel bad about taking it from someone who might actually need it.

  • doh.. signed up on Saturday, any chance we can still claim a free modem now?

    • +2

      message the rep

    • Promotional offers cannot be applied retrospectively

      • yeah no dice

  • Can this be combined with the free first month offers?

    • +3

Think about it … free first month .. free modem .. no contract.

      • Telstra are doing that. With a free Telstra tv box.

      • It would be exploitable but it would also be a bargain too tempting to resist. I'm mostly curious if their system will allow it.

  • Long time member here.

My internet has been very weird lately. Some websites just stop loading but are trying to get there. I have to manually refresh.

Some websites randomly take a long time to finish.

Sounds like a possible case of packetloss, ABB, you got any ideas?

My location is Brisbane, New Farm.

    • Have you tried running a spyware/malware scanner on your PC? If not, I would give it a try.

      • Not an issue. I am tech savvy. It's something beyond my control. Probably beyond ABB's too, but just wanted to check.

        • Have you tried trace route?

        • @Munki: Yeah no packet loss. Strange O_O.

        • @StoneSin: What about different browsers?

        • -4

@Munki: I don't think you know what you're talking about.

Not that it has any effect, but I get the same issue across multiple browsers and even PCs.

        • -1

@StoneSin: mate you've suggested packet loss and then go on to say trace routes aren't giving you indications of packet loss, and without any further details, accuse me of not knowing what I'm talking about?

          You're a knob mate.

        • -3

          @Munki:

mate you've suggested packet loss and then go on to say trace routes aren't giving you indications of packet loss

Yes. I suggested packet loss prior to doing network tests which showed all clear. That's why it's strange and that's why one comment follows the other.

No need to get upset buddy. You don't know what you're talking about and it's obvious.

"Check your anti-virus and browser" lol, if you think that's "no details" you're off with the fairies.

Just my 2c.. Recently switched to ausbb and have experienced the same issues. Streaming vids and page timeouts. Eliminated a lot of factors, different devices, modems and configuratios.. Generally experience 1-11mbps evenings on a 100mbps service. Had a socket reterminated, next step will be line tidy &or leadin replaced. Haven't contacted support for the same reasons, it'll be out of their scope and put back onto me, or put on a stability profile when the node is directly next to my house and modem reports 94/41 rate W/ 97/43 max.

      Hobart poi, ip 180.150.96.*

      • I'm a bit better off than you. My speedtests are always pretty good but suspiciously good compared to my feel of the service.

        • +1

You'll need to test independently. Speed tests won’t be an accurate representation.
Ookla provided tests show me 90-100 but this is just the max speed achieved. Testmy.net shows 1-11Mbps (20 at best) and trying to download files from ISP/HQ mirrors results in download speeds from 100-200 kbps (clearly not a 100Mbps service @ 10-12MB/s).

I wonder if there’s a peering/pop issue for some customers. You said you’re in QLD, I’m assigned a QLD address but they may have just registered them all there.. Unsure if that affects routing at all, i'd guess not.

Switched from a very small provider who had aapt business grade backhaul (but didn’t offer more than 50Mbps) I had no issue hitting that.

    • Hi StoneSin can you PM me your details and I can have the team look at it? Cheers, ABB

  • Hi Rep,

I have entered the code at step 5 of the process, and the code is recognised but the checkout page still suggests that I will be charged for the modem:

    YOUR ORDER
nbnTM Internet Plan 25/5, 200GB Plan
    $59/month
Once off Costs Power Modem ($149.00)
    $149/once off
    Promo / Referral
    Free NF18ACV Modem

    MONTHLY:
    $59/month
    ONCE OFF:
    $149

    • Hi josho9, can you please PM me your details so I can confirm? Cheers, ABB

      • Hi rep, I'm not sure what details you need? You can reproduce the issue on your checkout page.

        • Have you already placed an order? If not can you please try again as we have tested and the code is working - cheers, ABB

  • -3

Worth anything to sell? Probably not…?

I bought a modem prior to this deal (tp link archer vr900). Haven't switched to NBN yet though.

I also would have preferred a free month. Maybe I'll wait.

    • -2

Fricking neggers. It was a serious question. If you can't respond with words, get farked.

  • ABB configuration is flexible and you’re not tied to the equipment like TPG. TPG you must use their modem for VoIP if you are also porting your landline.

  • From a modem perspective, would the Netcomm be much better than a Huawei HG658 in bridged mode?

  • Hi rep, I signed up online and the promo code was pre-filled, but my end total was still something like $164 incl shipping for the modem. This was on step 4, step 5 was absolutely nothing and just a page letting me know my order was filled and to check my email for confirmation. My confirmation email didn't say anything about how much I'll be charged. My NBN service isn't due until the end of September, so mine was a pre-order. If the free modem code was pre-filled is it absolutely certain I won't be charged for it?

    • Hi moneymoo, can you please PM me so I can confirm? Cheers, ABB

      • Hi Store Rep, i'm planning to sign up tonight. Can you please confirm there is nothing wrong with ABB checkout page? I don't want to be charged for free modem. Thanks.

        • Hi Cheapaschip1 we have tested this morning and it will be working fine. - Cheers, ABB

      • It's all good mate, it seems I jumped the gun a little bit, I got confirmation email with promo code applied about an hour after I posted my comment.

  • Got an email saying nbn is coming in a few months. Apparently my Fritzbox 7490 is compatible with FTTN. Will it work on the Aussie Broadband network?

    • i have the same modem and mine works with aussiebb, so i dont see why yours wouldnt.

      • thanks

  • Hi Storerep, My friend just signed up 4 days ago and bought the modem, anything you can do to help her out?

    • Hi Hoopzzy, unfortunately we are unable to apply the code retrospectively to existing orders. - Cheers, Tom

  • Heya guys, don't suppose you've got any upcoming deals on ADSL plans? Looking around at the moment, but ABB is highly rated by everyone at my workplace!

  • -1

Hey ABB, no love for you existing customers ?
I've been with ABB since more than 6 months and certainly their support is awesome.
Before that I was in contact with telstra for 2 years and comparing the two, ABB support is 1000 times better than telstra support.
However, one thing to note is that I have called ABB support more times in these 6 months than I called telstra support in 2 years.

  • What the hell is with having to pay 6 months upfront if you want to use bpay!?

    • @REP seriously. why?

      • -1

Just to clear this one up customers can use Bpay at any time provided the payment is made 3 clear business days before payment is due on their account and if not they are letting us know so we can put measures in place to avoid direct debiting of funds. If a customer wants to not have direct debit details on file and have Bpay as their primary method of payment they must have established a good 6 month payment history with us.

        • This seems OK to me. Can we adjust billing periods or will it just start from the date of connection?

  • Hi Rep,

I was trying to sign up and got this message after entering my address : "Please note: we have currently stopped connections in your area due to our policy of not selling above more than 80% of available bandwidth. We don't believe it's fair to sell you a crappy, over-crowded service. We have more bandwidth ordered in your area which we expect to come on board around 2018-09-21.
If you're happy to wait you can continue with the signup process below and we'll keep you updated via email on how the bandwidth upgrade is going."

My question is how do I select connection date since I'm not sure when the service will be available. I also need to give 30 days notice to my current ISP so I'm not sure how the porting works. Let's say I tell my ISP that I'm cancelling the service on 21/9, what happens if your service is still not available on that day? Does it mean I'll be without internet?

    • Hi tiara, if you can PM me with your contact details I can advise when the stop sell will be lifted in your area - Cheers, ABB

  • Hi REP - my work colleague placed an order on Friday 03/08 can you possibly apply this discount onto her bill?

    • Hi jc0rt3z, as per the terms of the promotion we cannot apply codes retrospectively and they cannot be applied to existing orders. - Cheers, ABB

  • I'm getting this:

Unfortunately nbntm have a stop sell on all HFC services, and we are unable to process your order at this time. We will continue to monitor the rollout on your behalf, free of charge and as soon as the rollout to your area begins we will SMS you to let you know. If you have any further questions you can call our friendly, expert consultants on 1300 880 905.

    • +1

Hi taitems can you please send me a PM with your contact details/address so I can look into this one?

  • Shame that I can't use this offer as Balga,WA receives NBN service in Sept 2018.

    • Hi Daac you can still pre order our services and apply this code. - Cheers,ABB

  • +1

FYI it seems the modems aren't shipped early to be with you and ready on day 1. It seems the modem is sent to you when you're activated, even if you've scheduled weeks in advance. So if you actually require the modem, expect to go a few days with no internet until it arrives.

    • Hi uncoelite the modems are normally sent within 5-10 business days of the nbn activation appointment. - Cheers, ABB

      • FYI 2 weeks early you said the opposite
        https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/396571#comment-6254533

        • Hi uncoelite, I don't believe this is the opposite, the modem is still sent with the intention it arrives before the appointment/connection date.

We are also at the mercy of Auspost and their delivery times/holdups.

          Cheers, ABB

  • Awww man. Literally signed up on Saturday and checked here first for a deal.

    Man.. what a day.

Saw the "wrong" numbers on the clock (long story).

Did my biggest f-up in years at work.

Chewed out from my wife for being lazy.

Discovered I missed this deal by two days via a Google assistant feed.

    • I also cut my finger while cooking.

      • Was it using OzB's favourite Global knives?

  • Waiting for your $20 off for 6 months before I sign up :P

  • Did I read you can only do 1 plan change a year?

I was after 1 month of unlimited nbn50 to download my steam library. After that, I'm a very light user. nbn25 200gb will be enough for our whole house (could almost do 100gb even, but that's cutting it fine)

I'd sign up on unlim nbn50 to start with, then change after a month, but I just can't due to time commitments (simply, all of my pc's need backup and formatting, my new nas isn't working right.. and fixing all this is a serious time commitment with 1 toddler and another child about to be born)

    • Hi justtoreply we don't have a limit on plan changes on our services. - Cheers, ABB

  • Hi Rep, Can i ask if my ETA NBN start date is 2 months away, will i get charge when I first register or when my plan start? as I am worried to provide my credit card detail when I haven't start NBN yet?

    • Hi LoveBargain your billing won't start until the service is connected. - Cheers, ABB

      • So when will I received the free modem if the billing wont start until the service is connected?

        • You will receive the modem within a 5-10 days of your connection date. - Cheers, ABB

  • Good promo, I've just signed up. After going through absolute hell with MyRepublic (seriously, they are by far the worst ISP I've ever used, and I've used Dodo), I'm looking forward to switching to Aussie Broadband.

    • Look forward to having you onboard Ben1985

  • @REP any chance I can get this deal even though NBN rollout says Sept 2018 for my connection date?

    • Hi letslogin, yes you can pre order your service and apply this promotion - cheers, ABB

  • i just tried to sign up and entering the promo code but advises that its invalid, is it because my connection is HFC?

    • Hi Snyper, you should still be able to signup as HFC. - Cheers, ABB

      • Can you confirm that what DACS said below is correct? That the coupon offer has been altered?

        • Coupon hasn't been altered as I have just tested online.

We have introduced 24 month contracts, but if you select the power modem on no contract and enter the code it will still be $0 for the modem.

          Cheers, ABB

  • Went through the sign-up process yesterday (standard service with no contract) and the coupon worked, but decided to hold off until today to pull the trigger. Tried again today and the coupon no longer works. Phoned them and they said since 1pm on 30/8/2018 the coupon is only valid for a 24 month contract.

    • We have introduced 24 month contracts, but if you select the power modem on no contract and enter the code it will still be $0 for the modem.

      Cheers, ABB

      • Thanks for the quick reply. My mistake/incorrect info from customer agent.
        Signing up now :-)
