  • I heard about 18:9 not 19:9! Was it a new ratio?

  • +3

    Looks like no B28? :(

  • Forgive me, as I'm on my phone and not sure if it's the mobile site or what, but im seeing ~$301. Am I missing an option?

    • +1

      Updated.

      • Thanks

        • :)

A good price, but I think I'd prefer the A1 (with a headphone jack!) at sub $200 if any are left before the A2 takes over

    • +2

A2 lite also has a headphone jack but A2 doesn't.

      • +1

OH, good spot! That is a nice phone then

        • +1

          :)

No B28, No NFC is a NO deal to me. NFC is a must have one for me as I use Google Pay more and more.

    • +2

Just put a bank NFC sticker/mini card on the back of your case.

      • I got myself a Sharp S2 and very happy with it. I don't play games on my phone so all good

  • Same here.. I'm on my laptop and I see AU301.39…

  • +1

How does the SD660 compare to this SD625?

I've got the A1 which seems identical to this. No point swapping over… A2 sounds great however no headphone jack and the smaller battery is a bit of a letdown.

Edit: wow, just noticed that it's a step backwards from the A1 with no USB C! How is micro USB still a thing?

    • +1

This is A2 lite not A2.

      • How is micro USB still a thing?

        I know, it's ridiculous.

2019: "Announcing the Mi A3 with unique mini USB port!"

    • This is a rebadged Redmi phone. Redmis still have micro usb.

    • You don't want the lite, it is below the A1/A2. Also the CPU is much more efficient according to reviews, giving more battery life out of a smaller battery.

  • and it's android one for the A2, what does this lite version come with ?

guess it will be while before we see Nokia 7 plus deals as that has band 28 and NFC and Android one and usb c

this lite A2 only has 625 processor, so its competes with nokia 6 which has band 28, nfc ….think id pay the extra and get nokia 6.

    • Android one is just Android without custom skinning and minimal vendor apps. It means you'll get faster updates, hopefully.

      • It means you'll get faster updates, hopefully.

I've read about Xiaomi's poor update policies regarding the A1. It appears it doesn't receive nearly as much love as their MIUI devices.

Remember when newer generations of products came with improvements? These days, manufacturers tend to take out useful features, reduce battery size and still expect consumers to pay more for them. The lite version is clearly the more interesting one out of the two. And how in the name of ten Greek gods were they able to fit a 4000mAh battery in the lite which is smaller than the A2?

        • 4000mAh

No USB c + nfc + b28 to make space for the extra grams of battery.

        • And how in the name of ten Greek gods were they able to fit a 4000mAh battery in the lite which is smaller than the A2?

          It's thicker

      • Yea this is proving to be pretty terrible. MiA1 just got 8.1, which has been out since Pixel 2 in Oct.

        • +1

we have an A1 in the household , it’s not treble compliant so won’t be as fast for updates, some phones that shipped with android 7 weren’t treble compliant as they wanted to go android one quickly, so you get oreo, but android P might not happen although phone is less than 2 years old.

nokia phones eg 7 plus and the 6 shipped with oreo, are treble compliant, android one and already you can get android P.

xiaomi have lost their edge especially for australian market which likes nfc and band 28.

@garage sale: To be fair, the A2 is still a great sounding phone. It's a huge upgrade to the A1. But it is a chinese phone. They don't use NFC in China much at all. Band 28 is a toss up, having had phones that do and do not have band 28 I can rarely notice a difference in cities, perhaps in country aus you might notice or with different/cheaper telcos?

If they can provide timely updates, it would be a great cheap phone. I would still prefer a nokia 7 plus though :-)

        • @OnlinePred:

Waiting for the Redmi Note 5 Pro from Taiwan with B28 to come down in price for me, unless they release a Mi A2 with B28 too ( here's hoping lol )

  • Nice price. Ordered. Good that BG are still shipping to Aus. (GB not currently shipping here)

  • Price is changing, think fluctuation in exchange rates. $260.29

    • AU Price is based on xe.com

  • When are these shipping?

  • Bought one couple of days ago. Where is the phone coming from? Still haven't been able to track my item yet.

  • For those buying A2 (no extra card support) or A2 Lite (SD625),
can I know why its better than Redmi Note 5 (extra card support + Sd636) ?

    • +1

As far as I know most people prefer Mi A1 / A2 because these phones run AndroidOne which is a clean android. Redmi Note 5 runs on MIUI and people don't seem like it much.
