    Nice find!

    Deal 3: Latitude 13 3000 13.3" 2-in-1 Ultrabook Touch $809.22(dell.com)

Is that a good price these days for a 6th Gen i5 (2 in 1)?
Edit: Comes to $698.21 if you uncheck the Windows 10 Pro box.

    • Do anyone know the diff between windows pro and home?
$698.21 seems to alright for the spec.

      • +3

        Main differences are:

        • Pro can be used as a remote desktop server and client, Home can only be a remote desktop client.
        • Pro can be joined to a Windows domain, Home cannot.
        • Pro supports HyperV, Home does not.
        • Pro supports Bitlocker, Home does not.
        • Pro has more control over updates compared to Home (e.g. updates can be deferred, can use Windows Update for Business etc.)
    • +4

Nice find! Looks like you can get $111 of any model.
Imo deal 3 is the best (1920x1080 Touchscreen being deciding factor). I don't think a generation difference is going to be an issue. Probably better than the i3.

      • +1

The 8th Gen cores are quad core compared to those 7th Gen or older which are dual core.
Also found Freight Charges can be decreased by $35 but unsure of what this means.

        • I heard 8th gen is a reasonable step up from 7th but this is 6th gen vs 7th gen.

        • +2

@FireRunner: well yes but it may be worth paying the bit extra for some in order to have an 8th Gen core.

        • How did u get a the extra $35 off from shipping?

        • @pennypincher98: Ahh, I see what you mean now.

        • @99altezza: Scroll down to freight charges and select FGA NB1-OS-BTO Freight.
WARNING: I don't know what this does but guessing it might slow shipping time.

        • @99altezza: scroll down to "Freight Charges" - the last one before 2. support my dell

        • @FireRunner: Seems like they fixed it now.

"FGA NB-OS-BTO Freight Charges(Australia)" is the only one.

Still works but the extra 5% isnt avaliable.

        • @pennypincher98: paying a bit extra? For a similar machine with 8th Gen CPU you are paying 3 times the price.

        • @Tiggrrrrr: Yes, paying a bit extra. Not from the Dell online website, but other places do exist where it may be worth paying a bit more ($100-$200) for a 8th Gen.

      • If you want to decode 4k 10-bit HEVC video (or Netflix 4k) in hardware you'll want a 7th-gen (Kaby Lake) processor.

    • +1

Thanks. I will add the $698.21 price for the Windows 10 Home option

  • Update: Updated prices for 'Windows 10 Home' option (reduces price by $111.00 for Deals 2 and 3).

    • Then you buy a $4 pro key off ebay. Worst case scenario the key stops working and you have to downgrade to home.

  • just sucks they only have,a 3 cell battery in them

  • I'm going overseas on Friday. I want to claim TRS. I heard that Dell ships from Malaysia? Anyone with experience know that if it will get here on time? Nice find OP!

    • I doubt it will arrive by Friday. I ordered a different Dell laptop in June and it was delivered 6 business days (8 total) later.

    • Give it 2-4 weeks for delivery.

  • +1

Thanks OP, grabbed the touch one for around $630 after cash reward and also the weird delivery method (-$35), finger cross its not gonna take weeks to arrive

  • +1

Thanks OP, just picked up the touch model. Should suit me well for uni work and taking notes

  • +1

Thanks Op just got a 2-1 model, been looking for a while for a good deal.

  • +1

Thanks OP, I also picked up the 2-in-1, great deal for the specs.

  • +1

Just realised I was looking at reviews at Deal 2 and had it in my cart before realising it's not the right one :(

At least I know that one has a 12hr battery life haha

I'm finding conflicting information about Deal 3 though with battery life. Some mention 4-5 hrs whereas some say in their tests they got over 8 hours.
EDIT: Just got off live chat and they are claiming it has a battery life of 4-5hrs max.

  • Would any of these be good enough to run Autocad or Solidworks 2017?

    • +2

They will be ok, but ideally, you want something with a graphics card. Probably better off getting one of the Lenovo E480's and sticking the graphics card on top. Otherwise, the graphics will be pulling off your RAM and will slow the machine down. We have one of the Latitude 7000 series with 16GB RAM at work and it is fine for CAD (but a little slow rendering) as there is plenty of RAM it can suck.

  • +2

Terrible reviews on the customer service from this similar deal that was posted, hopefully there won't be any issues this time around.

  • Looking for a portable uni laptop, and my other half was leaning towards a surface pro, macbook or similar, for size and portability. How does the Latitude 13 1300 compare?

  • If only the 2in1 was a 7th gen processor and an i5,

  • I made Deal 3 - Total $629.86

    • how did you make it $629?

      • +1

Changed the delivery, and removed the OS. -$111 and -$35 and also added the code 5OFF1399 and got further off!

  • Saw this deal on the website too:

    https://www.dell.com/en-au/shop/dell-24-monitor-se2417hg/apd…

Anyone used this one before to work from home? Specs seems more than decent!

  • Turd - How did you do the 5% off with 5OFF1399 when it applies to goods over $899? Did you add extra goods to cart or something?

    • nope, seems like they fixed it now

  • Yes Mandstar, they advertised this deal a few weeks back at a slightly cheaper price and Cashback even hit 10% as it ended, BUT Dell were horrible to deal with. Orders were left in libo, Paypal payments were not honoured and a lot of us had to ring India repeatedly without much help being offered other than to repurchase with a credit card where the cashreward would not work. I cancelled and the refund had to be dragged out of them.
I am a glutten for abuse and am tempted to have another go if I could get it a little cheaper.
Seashipping did not make a big difference to things other than price.

  • +1

Had to google the CPU from deal # 3 to see that its GPU is an Intel® HD Graphics 520.

  • +1

Thanks OP! Just picked up Deal 2. Was tossing up between that and Deal 3 for a uni laptop. I was tempted by Deal 3, but I did some research:

Deal 2 Pros: Better build quality, amazing battery life (12 hours!), little faster, super comfy keyboard and is a tad lighter.
Cons: Worse screen, its 768p lower resolution, smaller screen size, and duller colours. No touchscreen.

Deal 3 Pros: Great 1080p screen, larger screen size, nice warm colours, has a touchscreen and can turn into a tent. Seems great for Netflix.
Cons: Worse battery (4.5 hours), weaker processor, keyboard is mushy.

So uni students: go with Deal 2 if you want a workhorse, go with Deal 3 if you want a nice screen.

Personally, I own a Switch which I plan on using in my off-time in the library, and can always HDMI into my TV at home for movies. The fact that I don't need to bring a charger to uni is awesome too. Kinda jealous of that nice 1080p screen though. Ohwell.

  • +1

Anyone had theirs shipped yet? I ordered #3 on Monday but it is still marked as processing. Paypal hasn't taken the funds from my CC yet either.

    • +1

      Same here.

Money is 'pending' in PayPal. Order status is "Order Number: Not yet assigned", but 'processing' is ticked.

I ordered 'deal 3' to get the larger screen.

    • I’ve been on chat for 10 minutes now and the only response I have received to my prompting about my order is the word ‘yes’…

Probably going to cancel my order. Why offer PayPal as a payment method if you can’t actually process the payment? Ridiculous.

    • 'Chat' just told me they don't accept Paypal. WTF??

      • +1

Chat told me “We were not able to get the amount out of your paypal account and that's the reason the order is kept on hold".

If they aren’t going to accept PayPal why offer it on the website as a payment method?!

  • Yeah I've been told the same thing, but ten minutes after being told to "please stay connected" I gave up and will do it later tonight.

Edit: Doing it now as they close in 15 minutes.

  • Are there any Dell reps on OzBargain?

  • +3

I managed to place an order for #3 through live chat and have an estimated delivery date of the 13/08/2018. I'm pretty disappointed with the whole experience, not that I blame the OP of course.

    • +1

Live chat never gave that as an option. Did they let you use Paypal, or force you down the CC route?

      • +1

Yeah it had to be credit card.

        • Same here. Didn't have any problems with the chat rep who had it sorted within 10 mins with credit card payment.

Paypal stuck at Pending for the $698.21 - Rep said it would be removed in 24-48 hours.

Cashrewards says $78.05 pending on a $1951.10 amount so I don't know what'll happen with that, I guess I'll find out in 3 months.

        • +1

          @KentT:
          UPDATE:
Ordered Friday afternoon 27/7. Laptop arrived in WA Monday 6/8 delivered by StarTrack. Estimated delivery was Friday 10/8.

Took a week and a bit, all up.

          Paypal charge is still pending.

  • It seems like a Dell repeat of the last time they offered the Latitude 3379 and were painful to deal with. Maybe it is a tactic to avoid Cashback? Does the same thing happen if you pay with a credit card to start with? Did any of the previous buyers get Cashback? Did Turd get his 5OFF discount? The saga continues.

    • +1

Does the same thing happen if you pay with a credit card to start with?

I bought an Inspiron 15 7000 from a different deal, paid using credit card and had the cashback approved (payment is due in SEP).

    • +1

I think you're right about CR, as mine came up as $78.05 (pending)!!

    • My 5OFF code worked, I was gonna order but waited till I got home, then when home the code was fixed.

So I didnt actually order :( Should have though @ $629

  • i got keep on hold for 2 reasons, first the payment is not yet been made, which clearly i received an email from Paypal saying the fund is now holding until the other party decided to take the transaction. and second they said i didn't provide them with a valid ABN number. i called them via the help line listed online and just give them my internet reference number then they fix it up for me straight away by taking payment over the phone and update my account to consumer. my only concern is will i be charged twice in the end as paypal already holding the fund there.. delivery is a pain, looking for 2 weeks, finger cross

    • +1

Mine's all sort now too, via chat. They say there's a tech glitch between Dell and Paypal at present, so I gave CC detailed through chat (which had a nice secure function) and all good now.

  • +1

Thanks. I bought the $698 version. Had a $300 voucher so it came to $398 haha

  • +1

Bought deal 3, but the invoice subtotals are weird. It seems like the tax paid is based on the RRP. it says item $471, tax $191 total $660.. Weird.

  • Placed my order last night, received "Dell Order Acknowledgement" email. In the morning tried to check order status on their site, but my order history is empty. Manually entered ref. # to find my order, their system tells me "Order Number: Not yet assigned". Contacted support, talked to some guy named Deepak, he told me "I see the transaction has cancelled and you have to redo it. But the prices are already been changed" (which is lie, prices did not change). Asking him who and why cancelled the order, he ignores my question and instead gives me an email and phone number of customer care department. Just wow. I would not mind placing an order again if the first one was cancelled for some valid reason, but there was no order cancellation email and I don't think Deepak from support can be trusted.

    • Emailed customer care, no reply within a few hours. Called them, they confirmed that there seem to be a problem with the order, but did not know how to fix it, so they promised to call me back later. How hard it is to charge the customer and ship an order?

    • +1

had the same issue. I order one on Friday and paid using PayPal. Checked the status today, no order found. Called them and the support guy found the order but said it is not processed because they had issue receiving payments from PayPal. Asked me to pay using CC which I did and I can see my order is in process stage.

The only issue is, when they deduct the payment from PayPal too, i have to request a refund as I can't cancel the transaction in PayPal.

      • I just had a conversation with another Dell agent via chat, she confirmed 'an authrisation issue from Dells and paypals end' (sic), I asked her to cancel my order and placed another order, this time using card as a payment method. New order still does not show in Recent Orders, and entering ref.# results in the same "Order Number: Not yet assigned" message. Agent told me to "Check after 24 hours" and "check with customer care team after a day so that they can expedite the order". Wow, Dell's ordering process is such PITA. Basically nothing works as expected and you have to nag them multiple times just to find out what's going on.

    • Yeah i had same issue. It was terrible service customer. Guy said that now you have to pay $2K price and place order again manually.
The online is still there. Best thing to do would be:

      a. Ignore the old one. It won't go through. Easiest thing is to just place a new order.
      b. In new new order, Pay via credit card (this didn't work either). Then call and ask them to process it over the phone. You would have to give them your credit card details. Alternatively, try just calling to place new order. It is still available online. So, they should be able to process comfortably.

  • +1

It happened to me as well, I played using paypal and it didn't go through. I called Dell they said Information mismatch between Dell and Paypal. I think it's their MO not to use Paypal so sales rep get credit for the online sales. They're going to force you to pay via debit or credit card.

    • +1

Not only that, they force you to give your card details to a sales rep via chat or over the phone. Their system can't process the card details that you have entered on the website during checkout process. Seems like it's the only way to get your order processed.

  • +1

I think this is last time I'll buy from Dell. They service has gone really crap. So much hassle. I think lot of people are not aware that their order won't go through. Even their credit card doesn't work.

Let us know if someone found good contact to resolve.

    • Yep. Unless you've received an email with order confirmation (apparently, their "order acknowledgement" is not an obligation of any sort) and you can see that your card was successfully charged, it means that your order is on hold or cancelled and they probably won't contact you to let you know or fix the problem. I managed to get my payment processed yesterday, and got a confirmation with estimated delivery date 13/08/2018.

      • +1

Did you have to pay again over the phone? Who helped you? can you pm me. I might have to do the same. I placed another order on 12% cashback.

        • +1

I had to provide my card details via chat, only after that they were able to charge me. PM'd you the contact details of an agent who were able to help me with my order.

  • +2

Big thanks OP for finding this. My old laptop died just before your post, and I'd been looking around for a suitable replacement.

My order turned up on Friday (a week earlier than forecast), and I really like the machine (Latitde 13)!

    • How is the keyboard? All the reviews say it's uncomfortable to type on, text input is slow and with more typing errors than usual.

      • +3

I think it's fine. Better than my older Toshiba that wasn't much good for light typists.

Quite like the machine overall. Battery life is good (but not outstanding) which is fine for my needs.

The only gripe I have is the power socket is on the opposite side from where my powerpoint is, so I have to drag the cable across where I sit (first world problem) ;-)

Touch screen seems responsive and accurate enough. The glare noted on some reviews doesn't bother me either.

  • In case anyone missed out. See classified section for Sydney. I don't want the latitude 1300 that they sent as I bought their newer one.

  • Anyone else had their cashback declined from cashrewards for the 12% promo?

  • I experienced too many hassles trying to buy this model and purchased an alternative Inspriron 2 in 1 with a faster processor on the date your purchase must have been made.
The transaction was very straight forward compared with trying to buy a Latitude (at a ripper price). I paid with a credit card and the 12% cashrewards was acknowledged straight away and is still pending.
If Dell renegged I would be tempted to discuss returning my laptop to them.
