    Damn that's cheap!

  • Go Dell, bring 30" Extreme HD to the masses

  • Awesome price!

  • Great price!

  • +3

    Don't forget MoneyBackCo's 7% Cashback!
That brings this sucker to $1120.24! (or $1130.24 if you don't have a moneybackco account that's already paid it's annual fee)
    (It's a 7% cashback on the pre-gst price)

    • you can also get velocity points for this using the shopandearn store instead.

  • that's cheap but I wont be able to fit the monster on my current desk!

  • +4

    So cheap! I'll take 5.

  • Too bad would not stack with 15% off coupon.

  • +2

Good price but my whole PC builds are usually only around that price so I don't think I will be buying one any time soon.

  • +1

I'm buying two of these bad boys! As i missed out on the last deal and this is too good to pass up!

  • +1

There has to be a coupon code that will work with these puppies…

    • You should be able to use EPP with it?

  • +1

    when does the offer end?
normally there is a date there somewhere.

    • On the site it states that it ends on the 10th of Feb, This Thursday.. so its a 3 day sale.
You wont see this price again for a very long time so if you want one there's no better time.

  • +1

Wonder how people actually pay $1900 for a monitor

    • +1

Designers or people who need it for a career.

  • -4

the "normal" price & discount are meaningless. the "current" price is probably the normal street price one would expect after a certain period of production. it will probably be even cheaper in a couple of months time too.

their 27" monitor is $848, so, in my opinion, $1200 for a 30" monitor is an everyday price.

    • +3

Not really, The current cost of the 30" dell is a STEAL at 37% off and you wont see this price again for a year or longer… its all about what OTHER 30" 2560x1600 rez monitors sell for and they are all at around the 2k mark

HP 30" , Samsung 30", Apple 30" all around $2k .. so 1k for a Dell is an awesome bargain for those who want one buy quick befor you miss out because until value 30" monitors with 2600x1600 rez come out there will always be a premium price for these screens.

    • That's not how monitor pricing works (especially in the premium real estate 27"+)

      • Yes and the tech is costly! :)

    • +3

There are opinions, and then there are INFORMED opinions. Yours is very clearly the former.

  • Can i use this monitor for 3D GAMING/MOVIES?

    • +2

No you cant…its a Super FULL HD monitor … not a 3D TV :) with a "LOW rez of 1980x1080"

      • +1

        Thanks :)

I was just looking atnvidia 3d glasses you can use with your graphics card and was curious.

  • Would love to upgrade to this one day.. but I have 24" Monitor now, and find its more than enough to fill my field of visions, plus games are hard enough on video cards @ 1920x1080, let alone 2560 x 1600.

    • +2

I have to say I upgraded from a 24 to a 27 and encountered the problems you are experiencing.

Also, Windows 7 and the web just looks too small at 2560 x 1600 IMO. Yes I know you can enlarge the fonts/DPI etc but it's still bad. I have to Ctrl + all of my websites constantly.

Also my $550+ GFX card still isn't enough to play BF BC2 etc on medium at 25x16.

  • +1

Awesome deal just placed my order for two should be a nice upgrade from one 5 year old viewsonic 27"… thank's OP
I also went through moneyback co, will see if it works

      • +8

i "did" use moneybackco!, did you read my post? And nah, dont have a QFF card, not that i fly much! :) someone who buys two 30" monitors sound like someone who goes on holidays much?

        • +2

someone who buys two 30” monitors sound like someone who goes on holidays much?

I did LOL at that, good call! :)

        • +1

          ahh… I miss read..
Coolies. Shame about the QFF points..

          lol @ comment…
No wonder I have no real interest in this… :D

        • edit

        • +7

who needs to go anywhere when you have google maps street view and 2x 30" monitors :D

  • Good deal. Would've got this if I didn't already own a 3008WFP.

  • how come 42 inch plasma tv is cheaper than this ?

    • -2

Plasma is old technology. It is crap and cheaper…

      • +2

plasma is crap? do your research

    • +1

      42" inch plasma 1920x1080

      30" Dell 2560x1600

You pay for the rez, and yes the Dell is more advanced.

      • +4

Plasma may be old technology, but for larger TV panel sizes it is still cheaper than LCD.

You may get the fantastic resolution with the Dell, but the contrast ratio will be nowhere near as good as a dedicated TV. TV for movies and TV vs. monitor for graphics, photos, PC games, etc.

    • +2

Well, this isn't a TV. You'll also find that a few kilos of rice are cheaper than this, too, but again, there's a small difference.

  • +1

I can't seem to find this deal when I use the moneybackco vendor link. I only see the one for $1899.
moneybackco says that I shouldn't paste the Dell address directly into the browser or it may not be tracked.
How can I can purchase it thru moneybackco?

    • You must select the dell business link!
The home one doesnt have any specials going on at the moment.

    • +1

I purchased a 27" dell using the moneyback link nearly one month ago and still don't see any money back in my account.

  • +5

This is a hell of a bargain.
Just cant afford it right now.

  • Bargains like this kinda make me wish I had a use for something like this; but I most likely never will. Outstanding price given that it's only a little bit more than the U2711 @$848!!! :)

  • +1

OP, please update the post to show when the offer ends

    10th of Feb, Thursday

  • How can I tell that I am still have ref to moneybackco while it had been diverted to Dell during the purchase?

    • You cant, but i just tried to make sure i got the monitors as smooth at i can and without hitting back in my browser at all, fingers crossed.

  • +1

It's sad that I still can't afford it

  • -1

Not sure what the fuss is about - Dell's U2711 is a finer (higher-pitch) display.
It's fine to always want bigger things, but as proven by iPhone's Retina Display, the it's the quality (ie. pitch) rather than size that's actually important.

    • when you also use the monitor for movies sitting back away from your desk it really helps having that larger size.

  • "I ran this test twice as well because the results somewhat surprised me - 23 ms is a pretty substantial amount of input lag"

This seems to put me off a bit.

  • Hmmm… I think the 27" is a better deal, all your losing are 160 pixels vertical of vertical resolution, it doesn't have the horrendous ms specs that the 30" has and it has a better media reader. It's still a good deal if the extra pixel space is essential, but that is in rare cases or you're very spoilt.

      • -2

uhhhh… Screen size doesn't really matter unless it's a sufficient size (I imagine 27" is enough) and unless your using it as a TV. I was talking about efficiency of resolution and since there aren't that many pixels more, it is not a significant difference.

    • -1

There's a reason why people buy 65" LED 3D TV's over 40" LED 3D TV's and its not about pixel pitch.

      • -2

If your spending more than 350 dollars to have 3" more for the sake of using it for movies, I don't know what to say.

    • +4

I have a few Dell ultrasharp 23", 24", 27" at home and I can tell you, the 27" is a better monitor to have.
I have no doubt the 30" is better yet. It is very tempting to get it at this price. I have one more day to think this through.

      • There is a large difference in resolution between 24" (1920x1200) and 27" (2560x1440), whereas 27" (2560x1440) and 30" (2560x1600), doesn't have a large difference. So stick to your 27", the benefits don't outweigh the costs in moving to 30" unless your using it for work (Graphic Designer, Movie Editor, AutoCAD, InDesign etc.)

  • Im waiting for dell to release a special for the 27"; my brother has the 30" and it's just too big for all computing purpose (and light video-photoshop) use.

  • Awesome monitor. Got one a few months back as a replacement for a 3007FPW HC. Paid ~$1230 at the time. Thought I got a massive bargain until seeing this post! :-)

The first one had 2 stuck pixels and noticeable banding at the corners. Had to ring Dell to do a swap (at first they didn't agree, so had to refer them to the zero dead pixel policy - a bit of a hassle but all too easy) The 2nd one is perfect.

I hate Dell support but don't mind their products.

    • had amazing support with my dell monitors in the past and i have seen bugger all gripes from others too so im not sure how you ended up having a bad time. dell support are generally pretty bloody good in replacing lcds

  • Great deal finally. Been waiting since the U2711 was going for $650 in early Dec. Given the U2711 is smaller I believe it is more suited to TV movies etc. given the ratio eliminates the black bars you see on 16:10. As a draftee I value the height more than the width 16:9 is to squashed. Just today I saw a whole heap of new Dell 16:9 monitors at work certainly hard to get used to. One question though, never bought anything through Dell Business before is ABN number required etc.? Would seem odd if it wasn't required.

Thanks again for posting the deal.

    • No abn is not required its the same as buying from dell home.

  • I have been admiring a 30 incher for awhile, 2560x1600 pixels in one screen is unreal. But someone commented that 2 x 24" plus a dual screen stand would be more practical and also works out cheaper. Tough call!

    • Hey, I was thinking more along the lines of building a Jumbotron of a dozen or so 19" LCDs with the same money! :p

  • Just thought i would add that the EPP 15% off does not work.

I think I'll stick with my 24" HP Dreamcolor. Cost me $1600 or so back in April, built in 2008 but an ex-display unit with only 5 hours or so of backlight time - in other words, essentially brand new ($1,000 off new price!!). IPS panel with RGB backlight, far far superior to CCFL. And at 1920x1200, you don't need a freakin GTX 580 to run games at decent speed.

    • +3

lol sounds like you're trying to justify why you shouldn't get it, after all a 24" Dreamcolor is still a different beast to a 30" Dell

    • +1

      cool story bro

  • -2

    not 16:9, fail

    • +2

16:10 is better for most things it is higher resolution you git. 2560x1600= 16:10 2560x1440=16:9

    • +5

      Not 14", fail.

      • +2

        LOL not 1080p fail.

    • +2

Just when I thought the 16:9 v 16:10 argument was over some ill informed person had to go and say 16:9 is superior….. Trying very very very hard not to yell

      • It all depends on how big the screen is. I wouldn't want a 16:10 tv that is 54", i'd prefer 16:9 or 16:8 as long as the resolution is very high,
I like widescreen, hell id love a 2.39:1 tv as long as its big enough and Ultra High Resolution.
Also i wouldnt want a laptop that is 16:9 because such a small screen needs more vertical pixels etc, i use 16:10 laptops.

        • +2

Yeah agreed big screens like TVs used to watch movies and tv shows and what not 16:9, or ideally 2.39:1 (which i think movie studios are moving to now). But computer monitors 16:10 all the way (although 16:9 at 27" or larger at 2560*1440 or higher isn't as annoying as the sheer amount of pixels just make up for it, still loving my 27" Dell :D bought last June/July)

    • +2

Wow, that joke went over the heads of more people than I would have expected…and the subtle humour award goes to…mattlol! :p

…best supporting joker award for actually getting the gag goes to…mic cullen! ;)

      • -1

I don't think it's as good as my 'Is this a Macbook Pro?' one on the HP laptop. But I certainly got a laugh out of mattlol's comment.

      • I don't think it's as good as my 'Is this a Macbook Pro?' one on the HP laptop. But I certainly got a laugh out of mattlol's comment.

    • -2

      16:9 monitors are fail

  • I will wait for the U2711 to go on sale as I have realised that my old Dell 27" does not have the same pixel count.

  • +1

For those wondering if moneybackco will work with this offer…

Ordered last night, just checked my moneybackco account today & $76.31 is already "being tracked from dell" as they say.

Once again super deal, plus I get to claim it on tax even better.

    • Same here, $152.62 its being tracked from my order, :)

      • I tried moneybackco, went to dells small business site to order and… nothing.
        Did I do something wrong?

  • +2

FYI on my order that i placed yesterday (080211) i just got a call from dell today (090211) to arrange delivery for friday morning :) niceeeeeeee i cant wait to get my 5120x1200 rez eyefinity setup at home :)

    • Don't want to know how hard those 6970s of yours are being pushed….

      • rez was ment to be 5120x1600 opps.. and i only have 1 AMD HD6950 2GB with a i7 2600 @t 4.1ghz Stock Voltage

        I'll probably upgrade to a 6990 or wait 6 months for the 22nm HD7970, GTX680 whatever best value…will see

        • +2

Regardless I don't think any GPU would want to be your GPU when gaming anyway.

  • +2

I am gonna hit the trigger on this, but still waiting for someone to produce a Small Business Discount code that works with it.

Too good a deal to pass on but I'd like that coupon…

  • +1

I am still half minded over this monitor. The small pitch on the 27" may be difficult for my eyes and this 30" should be better.

  • +1

    I caved in.
Your Order Has Been Submitted! :(
This will be my 10th Dell monitors. Prior to this I was mainly using CMV monitors.

Why does Dell give discount to moneybackco?

    • cause its a form of advertising.

  • So whats the count so far of people on here that have fallen for the $700+ discount.

    +1 for me.

    • +2 … but what do you mean fallin? US price is $1499

      • Fallin as in trap, to tempting to pass by.

        • Yeah its more a steel then a trap… 37% off is as good as it gets!!!!

  • argh so tempting

    (typing this on 2 x 2408wfp 24") :/

  • I'm seeing people are starting to ebay these monitors for $1269 and making that $70 Proffit! + moneybackco $75 bux lol

Allot of work for $145 but if they buy 10, sell 10 they pretty much get a free one.
