NBN Unlimited Plans 50 / 100 for $69 / $89 Per Month for 6 Months @ Aussie Broadband (New Customers)

1991
WHIRLY10

Per Phil Brit on Whirlpool:
The good stuff…
Our new special offer here on Whirlpool is $10 off for the first 6 months on either of our unlimited plans. That means you can sign up to our nbn™ 50 or nbn™ 100 unlimited plans and you’ll only pay $69 or $89, respectively for the first 6 months of the service.

All you have to do is sign up online and use the promo code WHIRLY10 at the checkout to redeem the offer.

The catch…
The offer can only be redeemed via our online signup and cannot be used over the phone. Only new customers are eligible for this offer (so no cancelling and signing up again to get the cheaper price). The code will only work with our unlimited plans and not with any other plans. The offer will be available until the 31st of August 2018 or otherwise stated.

The code will still work with our small business broadband plans and will still work for customers in the pre-order window (up to 3 months before their area’s RFS date).

That’s it…
Yep, that’s it! A new promotion to get our 2018-19 financial year off to a flying start. If you miss entering the promo code or see this offer after you sign up, sorry but no backsies, you've probably chosen to join us because you've already heard about our services.

        • @Savas do you remember the great deal you just missed out on due to no stock. Well you need a good internet connection for that.
Classic Ozbargain- you need to spend money to save it lol.

          No idea abt TPG btw

        • @sn809: I never buy anything so I save even more money

Friends, dont lament if you signed up when it was one month free, that deal ends up being cheaper ($79/$99 saving vs $60)

    • Thanks friend

been with iinet for 9 years over 3 properties. Having bad latency issues for months at night while gaming, might give ABB a go.
Tried to compare other peoples speedtest with ABB and seems like iinet is 3x slower for 100/40.

    • Sounds like congestion to me. If it is, it'll likely be fixed with AussieBB. If its something else. you'll likely take the issue with you. At least you'll have a helpful support team to assist you :)

    • Do you know iiNet = TPG?

      • Yeah I did hear that TPG bought over iinet but didn't think it would be bad. I guess I feel it now.

Would there be any point in going for the higher tier speeds 150/100 250/100?

        • I am only using 50/20 with AussieBB, I tried 100/40 on the first free month but decided to use 50/20 afterward.

No problem streaming even p2p on 1080p, I don't have 4k TV to try not sure if 50/20 enough.

I can't do that with MyRepublic before.

    • +1

If you go with ABB I’d like to hear if it’s any better.

Surprisingly, according to the ACCC iiNet is the second best provider behind TPG, which was rated the fastest during peaks.

  • Got the last deal for first month free. Helpful and friendly Aussie customer support. Great range of plans. Highly recommend!

  • This deal https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/388600 Tangerine seems cheaper and no contract with 14 days satisfaction guarantee. Any reason to choose this over that? I am dying to get out of my 1Mbps with iiNet ADSL plan when NBN is finally available for my address now

      Vocus backhaul

      Enough said.

      • -1

Congestion problems? Or is back haul like the second teir? Kinda like Aldi wholesale telstra network?

        • The backhaul is the bit that connects from NBN network to the ISP's network.

    • -1

I regret I signed up contract with MyRepublic 1 year ago. At first is good but you know :(

So don't try those cheap one.

      • +2

If you're getting poor speeds and lots of congestion then go to the TIO and ask to be let out of your contract

        • -1

That will waste me a lot of time to deal with that.

If you are happy with your ISP don't move and don't waste your time.

  • I'm still waiting to be connected, have already sign up, am I still eligible for this since I haven't been connected yet? CS or Rep, any chance?

    • In same boat…waiting…waiting..

    • Yeah you can, i was in the same situation, guy on the phone had to go and confirm with his manager as he was unsure.. just rang up today, as i am not yet RFS they cancel it for you. Then you can signup again online using the code to get the $10 off offer.

I joined them due to fantastic reviews here and first month free offer. I opted for 100Mbps plan but never got more than 40Mbps although the advised potential was of 80Mbps. Support staff is polite but not of much help. All they do is some sort of 'Port reset' which solves nothing. Still I thought I'll atlest see through'free month' and then take a call.
After about 10 days I stopped getting any internet at all. Upon calling I was advised it's likely an issue at NBN node and appointment was fixed for 3 days later. However, next day I received a call someone has already looked the node yesterday (i.e.on day of complaint itself) and I should get my internal wirings checked. They won't even diagnose the issue i.e. whether signal is coming to my house.
I had two options - either to shell out money to get wiring checked (which I knew is perfect) and then give a report to ABB for them to further help fix or to simply leave them. I chose later and am so happy with my decision. Jumped to Telstra via JB Hi-fi deal and getting perfect internet connection on same internal wiring PLUS first 50 days free (first full month + initial part month free). ABB are trying to be new Telecube. Stay alert!

    • Good luck!

    • What sort of download speed are you getting with FttN now?

      • 45/19Mbps on the 50/20 Plan i.e better than speeds achieved on 100/40Mbps plan with ABB. Plus Modem has free 4G backup if internet services were to be disrupted for any reason.

        • One little point you forgot to add is you now have a 2 year contract. Unlike with ABB which you had none.

        • @randolpg: Telstra deal at JB has no contract, it's casual with first month free.

        • @randolpg: no contract but$99 for 50/20

        • +2

@TarquinOliverNimrod: Actually there are no restrictions to downgrade to $79 for 1000GB data plan, which I'll do just before the free month ends. I was confirmed I can keep the Telstra TV and Modem for free irrespective of whether I downgrade or cancel my plan. Ripper of a deal in my view.

        • @Dealhunter967671: So really if you really wanna be real ozbargainer, you could cancel before 1 month is up and get Telstra TV and modem for free? ;P

Anyone know if you could configure Telstra modem to use with other ISP?

        • +1

@singhdeals: no restrictions, but a $120 casual plan change fee will apply. But yeah it's still a great deal!

        • @Dealhunter967671: so to cancel or even upgrading plan, you would have to pay $120? Guess they're not so dumb after all

        • @Droid11: not to cancel, just to downgrade into a lower spend casual plan or. $79pm.

    • What is JB hifi deal you were talking about?

  • What if I've signed up and on the waiting list for NBN to be available in my area? Can I still cancel even though the service was not activated yet?

  • +2

I feel like I'm getting a pretty average deal at the moment on Aussie Broadband - $75 a month for 600 GB on 50

    • +1

You're definitely paying overs mate. If you can't get a better rate with your ISP I'd be tempted to jump ship than rejoin once a new deal was available for ABB.

      • Anyone manage to get a better rate with ABB? do they price match?/Any ISP's you'd recommend for a jumpship

        • Have a look at Exetel’s rate. They are cheaper.

  • -1

Noooo I literally just activated it today with my router :( anything I can do?

  • What's the best unlimited deals atm for FTTN in NSW Sydney at all speed tiers 12/1 25/10 50/20 100/40 please correct me if I am wrong.

Currently on $35/month 12/1 1000gb XL NBN FTTN plan with Telecube (special $5/month discount is now over ended start of this month July 2018)

Seems to be just right for my use case scenario but a solid unlimited plan would be very nice.

Also only using their free phone service that comes default to just receive all calls but call barring activated for all outbound calls landline/mobile/international/special numbers

(we switching everyone to individual mobile phone plans for everybody in the house but keeping the home landline/VOIP number open to receive calls just for posterity's sake)

All I need to find out is solid unlimited nbn plans and if I can even have multiple maybe in future for multiplying the speed or having our own nbn connections for each housemate.

    Life is good.

  • I wonder how this compares to the lightning deal posted the other day…

  • +1

Anyone know what the downtime would be switching from Telstra NBN to this? Also - could I use my Telstra NBN modem or would I need to buy a new one?

    • Keen to know this - are you talking about the Telstra Smart Modem?

I previously used my Belong modem with ABB with no problems, so it might work, but would be good to hear if anyone has tried it.

      • I would also like to join the queue on this info.
Had it with telstra constantly dropping out and telling me a modem reset is all that I need to do.
Add to that the 6pm crawl that sends Netflix or foxtel now into buffer hell.
I have 0 days on my billing cycle s OK I might ask them.

        • I switched from MR to ABB on last promo, submitted at night and switched next morning.

          BTW FTTN.

+1 to ABB, you speak to an Aussie rep every time

I’m set to get NBN July-sept this year, does this mean I can preorder?

Too bad they dont reward there loyal customers just new ones..

    • +1

Guess you didn't see this deal in March for existing customers?

  • +1

Ah just a little bit annoyed because I just joined them last week!

  • While I tend to have little to no peak congestion with ABB, I'm looking to start budgeting better and $80 for 50/20 is probably more than I want to be spending anymore.. is there any alternatives that will still be usable during peak times?

    • I have been with Mungi since Buzz went belly up. Paying 60 a month for the 50/20 and anytime I do speed test getting min of 46 so no issues there. no idea what support is like as haven't need to contact them but hear they are good. So saves you 20 a month and you get unlimited.

      • Yeah I’m with Mungi too (after the buzz fiasco). I’m getting 92/31 at 8am this morning, but the 6pm slow down is a real thing. It’s the only reason why I’m considering switching to ABB.

        • I guess that's the dilemma I'm having. Is it worth saving $20 but then have to deal with peak time congestion. My instincts say no.

  • Darn unfortunately I signed up only a couple of months ago with AB. Anyway, couldn't be happier got a speed increase and no peak slow down.

  • -1

Isn't the Optus $65 deal better?
They have month to month option too.
$65 for Unlimited broadband from a much bigger company, especially which has a store nearby that I can walk in if phone staff is not listening to my complaints.

    • +3

That is if you bundle with a $35 mobile plan right? Otherwise $75 just for nbn?

      • -1

I already have an iPhone X from Optus, so I qualify for the deal :)
How is Optus as an NBN provider? If good, then I might jump on the Optus wagon.

        • Don't know the quality because I am not with optus.

        • +1

Optus was ranked as one of the worst major ISPs for NBN in recent times. They even throttled Netflix at one point so people barely got 1080p. I don't even know anyone on Optus any more because their plans are also so incredibly uncompetitive in recent times.

        • @StickMan: Wow. This is scary. Worst ISP on NBN. I better hold on :)

    • +1

      And free World Cup telecasts!

    • The key here is that from the majority of customers ABB has excellent customer service and no peak slow downs. They pride themselves of not overselling any areas. If their backhaul is not ready for more connections they will not let you join till it is upgraded.

  • +1

Is this offer open for people who have left ABB months ago? Or must never have been a customer ?

    • Also curious. I switched over to Telecube earlier this year but the speeds and stability are noticeably worse (despite the overall speed theoretically being twice as fast).

    • As long as you've been away from ABB for more than a month, apparently:
      http://whrl.pl/Re5NYf

  • Sigh, just signed up yesterday.

  • Heya,
I signed up last week and I am not connected yet, can I get this applied?
Or do I have to terminate my signup and re-apply as I am not an active customer?

    • Has to be applied at signup

  • -1

    @Sunshine Moon

I'm interested in ABB or Telecube.

But we don't use much data. So $10 off per month for 6 months isn't going to make me pick ABB.

Need an ongoing deal (not 6 months) for the plans with data limits. Please consider. Thanks.

    • I am not a ABB rep, go to the web site, if you can't find an answer give em a call.

  • Wow it is up and running in under 2 hours. When I signed up for MyRepublic it took months!

  • ABB going down unlimited plan too? So we can expect another Optus or TPG in the making?

  • +1

    I had Aussie Broadband previously.

They were pretty good except for the occasional drop outs but not sure if that was more of a NBN thing.

Im with mungi atm ($65 50/20) but pay a $20 a month booster for peak time priority so its a bit expensive but can honestly say I have had no issues at all - and no Lag issues at all during peak times.

One thing I definitely noticed with Aussie Broadband is their peak times slowed down a fair bit (still very reasonable though compared to traditional ADSL) - but I wasn't paying for a priority booster and also not sure if it has more to do with NBN traffic.

    • Can't speak to your location buy ABB has a great reputation with the majority who join. And I avg 97/32

  • Signed up thanks, was looking to get away from Telstra's $130 unlimited nbn plan that I was on that.

    • Could you use your telstra nbn modem with it, or was a new one required?

  • +1

Been an ABB customer for a few months after we switched from TPG due to the glowing customer reviews on Whirlpool. We had to go on a waiting list for around three months until there was a place on our exchange. The maximum speed we can get is 42/10 (but obviously we don't generally hit that speed) so we are on the NBN50 plan.

I like that customer service is in Australia but I don't think the staff are as skilled/motivated as the TPG staff in relation to resolving issues. Our main problem is that our connection was more stable with TPG; we have many 'drop outs', and there are delays with the loading of webpages - the same pages which would load instantly with TPG. At present, we are thinking of going back to TPG.

    • -1

From all I have read the exact opposite it true, the ABB Aussie Reps are excellent and know what they are talking about and if the person does not he will consult with someone senior or with more knowledge to get you an answer. I will say that if your on WIFI they do not like to troubleshoot with you until you wire up to be sure the issue is not your wifi. If your having issues call them and report the issue. Chances are if they can't resolve it you will have the same issue with another provider.

  • 6 months of $10 savings is $60, so isn’t the first month free better? Or is that expired now

  • Still surprised people harping on about there being other plans "the same" for cheaper.

Nothing on the NBN in "the same", even if same speed and data inclusion.

AussieBB is in a league of their own when it comes to consistent speed (no PM congestion), low pings, fast routing (important for overseas traffic) and great service (if a problem arises).

I know his is a bargain forum, but sometimes cheaper isn't always better. Especially true with NBN (usually cheaper means something's gotta give).

I'm on FTTP, by the way. I can't comment on Node quality.

    • +1

ACCC literally reported that TPG is the fastest ISP

  • Just curious, how do you manage do switch to another provider ?

Just need to signup with a new one and they will manage to cancel the old one ? Or do you need to cancel first.

    • Signup with the new one and tell your old ISP after you are connected. If you have Home Phone it will take longer before you can cancel the old one.

      • Hey thanks for your help.

Don't have phone connection, so it's good.

What about the 30 day notice for the old ISP? Don't really wanna pay twice for a month.

        • You have to sign up before this offer gone. If you already on NBN should be very quick to move over.

  • +3

I’m with mate communicate and pay $59.99 a month for unlimited 50/20 with no lock-in contract (its $10 off per month for 6 months). Aussie call centre as well and service has been great. No issues so far and regularly getting 45/46 down and 16/17 up on all my speed tests, even at peak hour in Sydney. Worth a look

  • +4

Yesterday I checked availability in our area and I received a call today saying they can provide me the connection. I missed to mention about this discount and call them back they said it is online only offer. Then I said I don't want to go ahead then the lady from accounts offered one month free. I accepted and it is better than 10x6 offer. So ozbargained. Thankyou guys

  • Looking for a deal with the out unlimited…

We use less than 200GB PER month.

    What do you guys recommend?
