Global version. $226.53 included GST
Seems like the cheapest price that I can see. I would suggest to pay $4.34 AUD to ship by EMS (Much faster shipment)

Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 (Global Version) 6GB/64GB for USD $215.99 (~AUD$290) + Free Shipping via DHL @ AliExpress

    • Question. Would you rather Mi A2 or this?

you should have bought a phone before 1st july.
specifically when the 10% cashrewards was happening.
now cash rewards is only 5% AND GST is being charged.
      you really missed the boat.

Maybe you'd better go to hospital. (And how do you think they are funded?)

    • Yeah, paying tax really sucks, good point.

I wonder how Ali is going to balance their tax books with Australian Tax office. It is not an Australian registered business.

    • (1) collect GST.
      (2) put collected GST in to high interest short term accounts.
      (3) ????
      (4) profit.

      • hahaha… absolutely! At least someone is happy… Mr Gerry Harvey. He must be sleeping well in the night now.

Except he won't be, because it's still far cheaper to buy from OS, as we all said it would be.

I boycott him religiously like a true professional.

How does the Australian Tax Department collects this GST we paid to Aliexpress?
They can cook their books and declared a lower value at the end of the financial year and our GST paid ends up in Aliexpress pocket.
Australian Government is so not smart.

    • can they cook the amounts forwarded via card details which the ATO gets access to every year….just asking.

    • eGlobal have stopped selling things to Australia. I think others will soon follow suit.

      • they just consolidated their operation under the DWI brand.

        • +1

Ah. I take it they just adjust pricing to incorporate the GST then?

This is what eglobal have on their page:

          Dear customers,

Due to the new GST regulations that were passed in Australia, we regret to inform you that our website will be closing down, effective on 23:59 AEST, June 30th, 2018.
Rest assured, we will still process any enquiries and pending shipping orders as soon as possible. All after-sales services such as Order Status > updates and ticket submissions to our RMA centre for issues such as Warranty Claims, shall still remain open for assistance.

          @flaminglemon:

They probably didn't want to register both eglobal and DWI for GST. So they just shifted everything over to DWI.

They have always been the same mob.

  • When is A2 coming

    • The launch is in August or something. I'll be getting either that or the Redmi Note 5. The only thing stopping me from getting a Nokia 6.1 is the fact that Nokias don't have an IR blaster.

How do I tell Nokia a want an IR blaster? Twitter?

      • What's the best price for Nokia 6.1 or Nokia 7 plus you seen?

      • Twitter, their website, reddit, Facebook, Google plus, their tech support call centre and email and whatever other ways or avenue of direct message you can find.

If you really want you can even Google fu and news fu and reddit fu maybe even to find out who is the lead designer of their Nokia phones line-up and then have a nice chat with him etc.. Basically speak to the head of staff etc. The internet way of speaking to the manager per se.

Basically any way you can contact them and get the message across and tell them ask them your thoughts on what should be in it or not in it or otherwise etc.

Ring, email, message etc enough times and somebody will pass on the message it is just a numbers game unless they decide they really don't want it.

If they see high demand for an IR blaster they will include it but if I were I would just petition it along with the above methods of communication.

        • Alright. Twitter and G+ it is then. For now. I don't think anyone really cares about IR blasters. My friends on Samsungs didn't even know they had one until I showed them. Now they use it to mess with the TVs in the office.

        • @flaminglemon: be the change you want to see in the world.. I believe in you. You can do it.

P.S. flaminglemon is such a sick name.. could make a game based on that name haha lol.. not bad game dev company name.

        • @AlienC: Well, thanks. I always thought it was cool until I found out it meant "very lesbian". Still. I've had it way before I found out, so I'm sticking with it.

And you're right. If I were to ever make a company of some sort or a band, I'd call it that.
