Apple Watch Series 3 GPS 38mm $429; 42mm $469 @ The Good Guys

150

was looking for Apple Watch deal and noticed that this has never been posted. A bit more expensive than this deal https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/375699 but I believe this is the cheapest local stock at the moment.

I got HN to price match and paid for it with Amex to take advantage of $50 credit Amex offer to bring the final price of a 42mm down to $419.

Hope this helps someone.

      What pricing error discount?

      • from the note 8 order cancellation

  • Keep in mind the HN Amex deal excludes Apple products, but I don't think it is enforced (Amex don't know what you're buying anyway).

    • Yup I believe someone pointed out in the other thread that as long as the sale gets put through HN registers, the credit should come through without a problem…

      • HN Price matched TWG and paid by Amex…got credit straightaway and deposited in 2 days

      • Didn't happen for me. Bought a macbook air for my wife and I didn't get the credit. Asked amex and HN and both said it's because of the exclusion. YMMV

      • I can't find my $50 credit on my Amex app…!

Maybe it's the type of AMEX I've got.

How did you get notification of the $50 credit?

    • +1

I charge mine once every 2 days, if price is an issue for you maybe you shouldn't be looking at smartwatches.

some people have money and they like to spend it on something that they like.
this is as good as anything ….

also if people use Imessages with one of their other products, it’s supported on apple watch …
auto lock and i clock of phone based on proximity.

i’m an android phone user , and even i get why people by apple watches if they have an
          iphone.

a friend of mine had an audi convertible , he bought the special audi golf bag for it at crazy price from their lifestyle section … he said because it fitted perfectly in a particular part of the boot, he had the money, good luck to him how he spends it …

i envy people that have more than me but i don’t get bitter about it.

      Thanks for letting us know

I don't really see the battery life as a problem, it lasts over 1 day, maybe 2 depending how you use it. I charge my phone everyday so whats the difference with the watch?

It's a great smart watch, higher priced than competitors but can't deny the quality

      • -2

The annoyance is with a watch you have to remove it from your wrist.
A phone is lot more easier to charge without that extra annoyance
and many new phones have Qi charging which means even easier to charge it.

A phone is also considered more of an essential item than a smart watch.

Yes I agree, the apple watch is quite good quality in terms of their design of it
but I don't agree that this is justify in that extremely high price that cost as much a an ipad
        and does a lot less…

Considering that there are cheaper smart watches from android and Xiaomi that will do like 90% or more of what I need on a smart watch..

Tell me what the apple watch can do that those other android smart watches can't do?

Like I said, I am an owner of many of apple products including their ipads (which is a pretty good tablet vs android tablet) etc..
but I just think their apple watch is overpriced rip off

Their phones are also increasing in price each year…
now some their most expensive phone can cost up to $1500 to $1600+ etc..

That is just ridiculous, considering that it will be outdated with a newer model next year.

          you’re comparing a Mercedes Benz with a Hyundai Excel…

Unless you’ve owned and used an Apple Watch then you really have no basis for you’re agrument that the watch is overpriced. Also which Xiaomi watch are you comparing it with? That you keep mentioning???

In regards to features….For one the Apple Watch has the ability to install certain apps from the Apple store, it has Apple Pay, has Apple Health which connects to a lot of health and fitness apps. It has GPS and cellular to make phone calls and text….it’s water resistant…. interchangeable bands…. siri…. and completely integrated with all your other Apple devices which makes life so much easier. Most people I know who have an Apple Watch love their watch…including myself.

          @gdiddy7:

Mercedes Benz with a Hyundai Excel?
          LOL okay whatever man..
This apple watch is not mercedes benz, they are just charging it overpriced and you sheep willing to believe you are getting something special..
You just think you are getting a mercedes benz cos of the ripp off price.

I bet if they charged you $1000 for it, you will be happy to pay it.

Siri is a piece of shit compare to Google assistance..
It is just not as smart.
This is proven in many tests.

Alot of features are on the android watches as well, just not called apple..
What certain apps are you talking about?
Android also have certain apps as well..

Go Google Xiaomi watches and androids watches
Don't tell me you don't know how to google?

        • +2

          @pinkybrain:
i took google assistant off my android phone it is also a piece of crap ….

xiaomi phones …. apple have provided OTA IOS updates for much longer than xiaomi has for any phone, over 5 years of IOS updates for most models ,

warranty, i can buy iphone in usa or uk or germany and get fixed under warranty in australia …can’t get xiaomi fixed in australia .

        • -1

          @garage sale:

Google assistant is heaps more smarter than siri..
as the above user mention siri as a benefit.

Whatever the reason you remove Google assistant is your own business
but it is very useful for many people.

Siri on the other hand is dumb in comparison.
It has been proven by many sites/tests.

xiaomi phones can get lineageos, so it has more updates than IOS ever will

        • @pinkybrain: seems like you’re just after the cheap and nasty…. and that’s cool just stick to the cheap and nasty or just cheap for that matter.

And yes I’m familiar with Xiaomi Watches, so which one exactly are you comparing it with? I also take it you don’t own a smart watch….are you after a recommendation? If you have an Apple iPhone then buy an Apple Watch. I’m assuming you don’t have an iPhone so obviously you can’t buy an Apple Watch….enough said.

There’s some smart watches for around $20 on GearBest you should buy that one. You’d be really happy with it because it’s $20.

        • -1

          @gdiddy7:

What you mean cheap and nasty?
These android watches will do as much as what the apple watch can do..
What extra features that the apple watches can do? (other than have the apple logo)

seems like you’re an iSheep and keep buying overpriced rip off shit from Apple.

I bet that if Apple sold you a a piece of shit and call it iPoo
you would gladly lap it up cos it is Apple..

Get this through your thick head…in case you aren't smart enough to know the difference.
          I can buy the watch
I have bought their ipads cos they make good tablets

I just choose not to waste my money on an overpriced crap that will be outdated in 1 years time.

Go learn to google if you want to find the alternatives I am talking about.

@pinkybrain: the point is why you don’t answer other guy’s questions? Which smartphones and smart watches do u have? Or its on YouTube and Reddit? I have been through most of the smart watches from Xiaomi, Pebble, Android, Fibit and Apple. The best one is Pebble Time (except for health apps) then Apple Watch, fibit and Android. Why? It have all the stuffs that i want and i dont need to waste my money every year for a new smart watch!
Before you say something, please own a product for at least a week. Not watching it on YouTube, reddit and whirlpool.
Anyway hater gonna be a hater ahahahhaha

        • @pinkybrain: I can see why your username is pinkybrain…. seems like your brain is the size of your pinky…. after so many down votes from everyone you’d think you’d get the message through your small brain.

Obviously a lot of people don’t think it’s overpriced and still buy it. You think it’s overpriced…. because….god knows why…. just don’t buy it…. and don’t put stupid comments just for people to down vote. People like you are the reason why they created a down vote button for.

Open your mind a little and I’m sure you’d live a more fruitful life. Be gone now….

    • To be fair, I was concerned about the battery life of a smartphone as well when I was considering upgrading from an old Nokia to iPhone. But I got used to having to charge the phone everyday pretty quickly…

    • Key word being “most”.

      • -1

        keyword "overpriced" rip off

tell me what special feature the apple watch can do that most of these android watches can't?
other than have an apple logo..

also you need to charge it like daily or every 2 days..vs android which has a lot longer battery life.
this is the biggest annoyance about the apple watch.

        • Messages.

My Apple Watch outlasts my former moto 360 sport and Huawei w1 so I don’t know why you’re whinging about battery life.

        • -1

          @coxjon:

          messages is nothing special
it is just only useful for apple only products

I can install other messaging apps that is not limited to apple products..

You are comparing it to these products moto 360 sport and Huawei w1
but there are other android watches with much longer battery life than these watches you said..
and it is not charged at an overpriced rip off.

But I am sure, if apple sold you an iPoo
you would gladly buy it cos it has an apple logo on it.

        • @pinkybrain:

it is just only useful for apple only products

Guess what: I have apple products (Not the ipoo) and want this feature which cannot be provided by any other smart watch.

If I’m going to take it off at night, how is charging once a day a weak point?

Reasonable price. I was fortunate enough to get the cellular version 42mm for $468 recently from Amaysim with a 20% eBay offer on top. A good deal if you see it (I think Amaysim forgot to price jack). If I hadn't got that…I might be hitting this. Sure…they're pricey…but I had a Garmin tracker before with phone integration (messages etc) before…this is so much better, and we're pretty much an Apple household anyway.

    • That’s an awesome deal

I paid $419 (after $50 Amex credit) for this and would totally pay $49 more for the cellular version!

  • $399 for 38mm at dick Smith eBay 😀

    https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/387231

    • Yeah pretty sure that’s grey import though…

  • $424 at Costco

    • That’s great!

      • With costco lifetime warranty supposedly

  • HN price matched. $380 after amex credit for 38mm non-cellular one!

  • Anyone else also waiting for theirs?

    • Amex credit? Nope mine came through within a few business days.
