    Thanks Scoop!

  • Are pods for this prohibitively expensive?

    • +2

      For the environment? Yes.

      • You can use terracycle

        • Pls explain

        • +1

@Bellpop: Pods are normally $8.50 for 8 or 16 dependant on variety you choose. I get them in bulk on ebay pretty cheap. Terracycle allow you to collect the pods in a box and they give you free postage labels to send to them for recycling or they have drop off points you can drop the used pods in to.

    • Yes, I just purchased this for guests, looked up the cost of pods, cancelled the order..

You can buy resealable pods, fill your own coffee, costs peanuts

Coles and Woolies often have them on special, 50% off

Oh, and aftermarket [ebay] sell its own pods too

        • when you say 'coffee' do you mean instant or ground beans?
i bought the dolce gusto eclipse and want to look at refillable pods…wondering if you can use lavazza, vittoria ground beans etc or only instant stuff?

        • You can use those reusable pods to make hot chocolate, right?

        • link for resealable pods?

        • @franco cozzo:

is the eclipse use the same type of pods as this one?

        • @pinkybrain: If it's branded "Dolce Gusto" , yes.

$8.50 for a 16pk. If you get a pack that has milk/coffee pods (i.e. some of the pods are dried milk), then you get 8 cups, since you need 2 pods for a cup, 1 milk, 1 coffee.

The main advantage of this machine is that you can use it without milk. Just use a coffee pod and milk pod and away you go. It also has cold pods for iced tea. So I use it upstairs away from the kids and life is good. There is not much choice in pods though - limited variety apart from what they produce themselves. If you want a real good coffee, don't get this. But if you want some convenience and don't make coffee often, good bargain.

      • True although some pods have milk in them already such as Cafe Au Lait so you get 16 coffees.

I purchased one of those Aldi Milk Frothers which works well when buying the espresso varieties.

      • Ah thanks mate. I’ve currently got an Aldi one I like. Does the job. Was thinking this might be ok for my office…

        • are aldi pods more cheaper?

        • @pinkybrain: haha pretty cheap $5.99 for 16 is the everyday price

        • @Bellpop: so why not get another alid machine then?

          how are the aldi coffee?

btw can we buy refillable pods?
