    4-cell (60Wh) Li-Polymer battery

will my game load before the battery dies?

    • +1

Let's be honest the battery on gaming laptops like these are purely for when you need to change the power point that it's plugged into. You're not gaming on the go with this thing.

  • tempting … i guess that 1060 not max-q but full-fledge version ..

    how's gray's refurb ?

  • If only it was brand new and not from grays, id be happy to pay more :D

Well today's your lucky day! Here you go!

      • thats a lot more o.o

  • Not a bad price

My last refurb from Grays had a sticker on the back saying guarantee will be voided if opened. Had to open it to change hard disk to SSD.
Not impressed with their refurb PCs for this reason.

    • You should send a photo of that to the ACCC

FYI, those void stickers have no legal standing. They're just use as a deterrent for those that don't know any better.

      • +4

They have no legal standing however, if the seller were to void warranty on this basis, the cost to fight & sue would be far greater and time consuming so no-one bothers. As such, they get away with it all the time.

        • the cost to fight & sue

You wouldn't sue them, you'd lodge a complaint with Fair Trading which doesn't cost any money.

      • Is that in Australia though? I know that's the case in the US because I heard Sony and Nintendo were getting in trouble for doing this..

That and what the guy below said, the effort to fight them over this wouldn't be worth it so people let them get away with it.

    • Mine has this too. Got Lenovo Miix 510 from them last week but other than that was in absolutely mint condition.

My last refurb from Gray was a Dell Alienware and the warranty was provided by Dell (registered thru Dell website) so that was pretty good. I don't think this deal is that great as I don't normally trust a reconditioned with warranty provided by seller and not manufacturer. Factory/Manufacturer Refurbish with manufacturer warranty is what you should be aiming for.

  • I gave it a try, hope I won't get burned

I got the Y520 from the big ozb deal a while ago… At less than $200 more for a serious graphics card upgrade, double SSD, double ram, and local stock, you can't go wrong - it's a great laptop

  • I bought a refurbished Yoga from Grays in April.
    https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/371582
Absolutely brilliant … not a mark on it, accessories in the box hadn't been opened, still had plastic wrapping around the hinges. No sticker regarding warranty being voided if case opened.

Noise issue mentioned in comments hasn't been an issue - maybe my hearing isn't as good as it used to be.

if you are looking to buy a gaming laptop don't waste you money on GTX 1060 folks , specially a refurbished one!!!!!!!!!!!
No game should be run on battery technically but come on mate, 4 Cells?!?!?! my iphone has better battery life.
CPU should be at least HK series to justify buying a refurbished.
I won't recommend the specs for a refurbished go but may suit some people :)

    • my iphone has better battery life.

My Nokia GSM phone has better battery life than your iPhone.

(you're seriously comparing the battery life of a gaming laptop with an i7 HQ processor, GTX1060, and 15.6" screen to your little phone?)

      • Mate,

Not that hard to read my sarcasm , btw what model is your Nokia GSM? 5500 ….lol

        • If you can find better, we are all interested

  • 3.2kgs!! wont need a gym membership if your carrying this bad boy around all day

  • Bought a Lenovo Ideapad Miix 510 (surface pro 4 clone) for $543.30 with local warranty. Absolutely perfect condition and super super happy with it. Included accessories and everything.

  • Waited too long, out of stock.

From online reviews I saw Graysonline lenovo products were reported multiple times for malfuntioning after a few months. Plus their lenovo products are without manufacturer warranty (their own "warranty" does absolutely nothing from my experience). A no for me.

    • From online reviews I saw Graysonline lenovo products were reported multiple times for malfuntioning after a few months.

I do have to say, you need to be careful basing your opinions solely on online reviews, especially sites like productreview.
It's not really the sites themselves, it's more because humans understandably complain more than they praise.

If someone has a problem with something, they will likely shout from the hills making sure everyone knows that they are unhappy with the item. But if they're totally happy with a product, they're far, far less likely to search for a website or forum just to write a post telling everyone "everything works fine". You're probably satisfied with your phone, fridge, and microwave… but have you posted a positive review about them on productreview?

I know lots of friends who are completely satisfied with their Virgin Mobile service. But they only have a 1.8-star rating on productreview - because only people with problems bother looking for a place to vent. My friends who are completely satisfied don't bother posting because everything just works.

So the end result is, you'll always find lots of complaints online. If graysonline sold 20,000 laptops in the past year and 19,800 of them were 100% perfect, you'll still hear 100-200 people complaining loudly, leaving 1-star reviews on productreview. Meanwhile the 19,800 people who are completely happy don't bother going to productreview because they have no reason to.

FWIW, I've bought a Lenovo tablet and laptop from grays and they've both worked perfectly.

  • Just received mine today, still have plastic on screen and on speakers, I haven't found any scratches. Looks fine, works fine … hope it will stay that way (it's indeed on the heavy side and just wished the screen had more "screen" and less border)
