LG G6 H870DS (Dual Sim) 64GB Astro Black $412.20 Delivered @ qd_au (TW) eBay

540
PLAYFUL

Not a bad price for what is still a great phone. Note this is the dual sim model which has LTE band 28 for Australia. You can get the H871 cheaper (no dual sim or b28), or the H870 (no dual sim). This ships from AU "unless low stock" so it may ship from HK.

it is not local stock. QD is Taiwan based.

    • I have ammended my post, agreed, they are a bit dodgy saying it is shipping from Australia in the description.

Tucked away in the details it says it will ship "express from overseas" if it is low stock.

      • +11

QD still has a better returns process than most other grey importers - you only need to ship it back to Sydney in the event of a warranty claim. Good price, good phone.

They do ship from Oz if there's stock. I have had wonderful experiences with them on a G6 that seemed to have been opened.

They sent me a brand new one and refunded $30.

      • Recently I bought a LG V30+ from them, the phone came three days after I ordered and phone just as they described. I feel they are great.

QD is pretty great. Made a few purchases with them, all great

Just wanted to chime in and say warranty claim was a breeze with QD for a LG G4, of course it took a bit longer than anticipated (3 week turn around time from the shipping day) but they were upfront about it as the G4 has had manyyyy recalls… would shop again from them!

But this phone hasn't dropped as dramatically as G4 in terms of price… it was around $500 last year a few months after release.

    • Lucky you got G4 covered by qd. Mine died 10 months past the 1 year warranty and I got nothing from them. Not that I blame them thou.

      • +2

wow, must've been lucky as I was out of the 12 month warranty by a couple of months. I just mentioned to them that it is a widespread issue etc… they just accepted it straight away. The phone is still working to date!

LG are starting to pick up a loyal following base after the success of the V20, gives them scope to remain steady on their prices.

      • But sadly they didn't follow the V20 path… there is no phone to replace V20 currently! nothing that is half decent with a replaceable battery :(

        • Its the trade off for having waterproofing…

        • @pointnlarf: not really, the older Samsung galaxy Actives had removable battery and were water proof.
Besides "waterproof" is overrated if it's not covered by warranty.
What all the manufacturers want is planned obsolescence, nothing more nothing less… Everything else is an excuse!

        • @OpayuOnam: They also had huge flaps to cover ports….people want waterproofing and its easiest to dispense with the removable battery. It takes me 10 minutes now instead of 10 seconds to replace a battery… So yeah for sure for regular people it might make their phone obsolete…lazy gits :)

        • @pointnlarf: fair enough but these water proofings are still a bit faux, have heard many Sony Xperia Z phones die from water and Sony claiming it's only still water proof….

Also *10 minutes and you lose warranty and water proofing…

        • @OpayuOnam: Yeh most companies dont cover for WP so it doesnt matter much if I open it after 2 or so years when the warranty has expired anyway for a battery replacement…although WP on most phones does work quite well in normal use…maybe not on the sony.

        • @pointnlarf: fair enough, but to my experience phone batteries start showing age after a year and around 1.5 year mark is when they are down right frustrating. I'd expect things to even be worse with current phones and all this quick charge business…

I also can vote for them, had a G4 that a few weeks out of warranty, started boot loop, contacted them and they're happily replace it with a new one + a spare battery. I just had to send the phone back to their store in Sydney.

Hence, I just bought the G6 from them from the last 11% site wide sale.

I bought an s7 from them in 2016 which had issues. They paid for return shipping and sent me a new phone. Pretty quick turnaround.

My 1 yo LG G6 just got Oreo today

    • so did mine :) Hopefully my battery life doesn't suffer because of it (like some other phones have with updates). I have been really happy with my G6 and my battery life has been excellent.

    • +1

Yeah mine finally got it yesterday as well. For all their talk about improving update speeds, LG are one of the last to get Oreo out. 10 months or so after its public release.

  • This is a good price. I sold my G6 for $400 about 2 months ago, and this is brand new.

  • Anyone kindly give me some ideas between G6 and HTC U Ultra please, thanks

    • G6 has very good wide angle camera, if you like taking lots of pics with the mobile, then it is a must have. It will also sound better with headphones than HTC. What else do you want? Just take it and enjoy.

    • Ultra got glass back panel.i broke mine and now getting new phone.

  • +1

And just received Oreo on mine today so you'll still be up to date on Android…

  • Got burnt by QD LG G4 deal before. Their repair process is shocking. I got a half repaired phone blocking its infra-red sensor

  • how important is Band 28? there are a lot of the H871 models with wireless charging for around the $350 mark

    • It's the most important thing, for someone using it in Australia.

      • is band 28 only telstra and optus? i'm with Vodafone will i notice is not having it?

    • Don't forget this also had quad dac whereas the versions with wireless charging do not. If you listen to headphones it'll make a huge difference to your experience

      • i dont listen with headphones and would prefer the wireless charging. im also on vodafone so which apparently doesnt use band 28 so im temped to get the H871 which is about $70 cheaper

Grab your shoes and start running (away)

    Maintain distance from LG phones..
However good they look… They are worst.

    First hand experience.

"You can get the H871 cheaper (no dual sim or b28), or the H870 (no dual sim)."

Nope, the DualSIM variants are all grey market and they are all cheaper than the Standard Variant.
This is one of the cheapest unlocked models I could find:
    https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/LG-G6-64GB-H870-4G-LTE-Unlocked-…

    …and its $584 (shipped) for the 64GB model !
Whilst the H870 is the superior model (r00t, TWRP, Fulmics, RessurectionRemix, Magisk), its not quite worth it for this price.
If it was the LG V30 for $500-$600 sure, but not worth it for the G6. Yet, even the V30 is a stretch with the 1+6 and S9+ out there.

    But Good News Everyone!
I just got the update from Android 7.0 to Android 8.0 today, and along with it a security update. It's 1.8GB, but its coming from LG's servers so the download takes around ~20 hours (nothing you can do). However, its still 1 or 1.5 major releases behind and the security update is 2 months behind… and I'm pretty sure this is the last and only update to receive. Contrary to other phones like OnePlus 3, SGS7-Exynos, OnePlus 5t, Nokia 7 Plus etc etc.

    • Here's an update:

The Android 8.0 Oreo upgrade went smoothly and I don't think I lost anything. I can't comment on the battery life yet (some said it went up slightly, others saying it drains much more quickly). However, I have noticed the animation speed is lower and in-general the device does feel snappier. Not as fast a iPhone/Nexus, but not as laggy as a typical LG/TouchWizz/MIUI device.

I just wished this update came in Q3 2017 as it rightfully should have, hence why I'm jealous of the Nokia 7 Plus (AndroidOne) family of devices.

Cannot unlock bootloader, root or put custom roms on these.

  • I would recommend QD for sure for mobiles anyway, I got my mobile shipped sealed in box. I had the LG G6 and never had a reboot issue. Reboot issue is software, not hardware. Loop boot issue = As it's certain apps that interact with the kernel and the way LG setup up their GUI/integration into Android causing the Android to loop boot. If you ever get loop boot reset to factory! ( and keep it default and standard approved apps )

The express shipping option is a must as it took less than 3 days to get to mine from the courier. Also qd refunded the difference after LG had a price drop within days of the order, ages ago, last year ( who does that, these days they did hence service is pretty good for grey imports). So one of the few stores I trust for grey imports other cheap but nasty dodgy eBay places selling grey imports lower then 99% eBay stores.
