    No 3.5mm jack

Not true. Both pictures and specs mention that its present

I'm not sure what your perception is of a flagship device. Tell me what other flagship devices from 2017/2018 sold/sell for around $700 at launch. The specs of this phone are nothing short of flagship grade. That's a lot you're getting for $700.

      • -1

IIRC the LG G6 opened at $800.

Not at launch, but you can currently get phones like the Xperia XZ2, Galaxy S9 for about $60 - $70 more, or phones like the LG V30 or HTC U11+ for less. All of these phones have better cameras, better displays, better weather proofing. Not saying the OnePlus isn’t good and doesn’t have advantages, but its not the value proposition that it once was.

Dunno why people keep thinking they're doing budget flagship killers. That ended many many phones ago and hasn't been advertised since.

I have a OnePlus5 after upgrading from a "flagship" S6 almost a year ago. My opinion - this is the best phone I've ever owned, and I've had mobiles for almost 20 years.

I would never go back if they keep these specs and quality up.

  • I am not upgrading from LG G6. Its a freaking solid phone and does everything i want.

Thanks for letting us know. Really adds to this discussion of a OnePlus device.

Bit of a toss up between this and a Xiaomi Mi Mix S2, which is a tad cheaper (<$650) and similar specs. Most importantly is the Snapdragon 845 chipset.

    • +1

Do you prefer AMOLED displays to LCD ones? Are you opposed to having a notched phone? Will you find the extra 100mAh of juice in the Mi Mix 2s useful? Do you need a headphone jack? These (amongst others) should help you decide. Cheers.

Do you hate MIUI? (There is only one correct answer).

        • can you put lineageOS on the xiaomi?

    • This is 64gb compared to xiaomi 128 at a similar price though

  • Will this be subject to GST given it would most likely arrive after 30 June, even though the purchase occurred earlier?

What's with the "EU" version? I thought there was only one version?

    • I'm interested in this as well. But the supported bands on this phone looks like it will work perfectly in australia:

i searched for the difference between EU and "regular" before posting. I could not find anything to differential between the models.

EDIT - comment below indicates that it is just the inclusion of a EU power adapter

  • Great price and I'm tempted but I'll wait until the early teething issues are sorted first

Its too expensive and long waiting time, whoever is interested in EU version (it just contains EU power adapter plug) should hed to Amazon.de they have it on stock, shipping is quick and considering they remove EU tax price turns out to be 530 usd delivered.

  • How come Kogan is expensive @ $849?

  • Never Settle for a notch.

  • Didn't Apple sue Samsung (and win) because their Galaxy S1 was too close looking to the iPhone? How are they not able to sue the dozens of phone makers for copying their notch?

I personally thought they shouldn't have won the case against Samsung, because patenting their design is like patenting round wheels. But for the sake of consistency, if the Galaxy S1 is derrivative enough to infringe, why would the notch not be treated the same? Apple is a company that patents everything they can even if someone else actually did it first (but didn't patent it), so I'd be surprised if they didn't patent the notch.
