    • Ohh yeah ..just realised..updating..

    • 59 is leasing and 69 is own

    "Seems like good plan"

plan is NEVER good. buy outright and get postpaid non contract sim card.
the value of freedom is priceless.
if you cant afford apple then buy orange or grape

    • +10

i like oranges and grapes.. don't bring them into this

      • Any banana lovers out here?

    • Agree. Still on $15 p/m non contract with 1.5GB data, plenty for me and I use my phone for emails and browsing all the time. Hoping for a good deal on an outright S9+ under $900, then I might be tempted to sell my phone and upgrade.

    • +2

Get a hex debt, get a puppy, marry, have kids get a 30 year mortgage, refuse to get 24 month phone contract to remain 'free'.

    • I used to believe that, but in recent years there have been good deals on plans with phones. It's mostly because plans without phones have gone up in price. You used to be able to get by on less than $20/month, but nowadays any half-decent plan is $30/month. I used to only buy grey-import phones, but with some Ozbargain specials of late, it's because worthwhile buying phones on plans.

      • Agree. To make this plan of equal value to going sim only, the phone must be bought at $700 or less.

  • So this is a $5/month drop in price for the S9+ compared to the last deal.

  • Same as last deal? Seems like just an extension of the last deal.

  • LEASING? No thank you.

    • +3

Have updated description. both options are available

      Own A phone Price : S9 64GB/256GB $69/$84 or S9+ 64GB/256GB $74/ $79pm
      Lease A phone Price : S9 64GB/256GB $59/$74 or S9+ 64GB/256GB $64/ $69pm

  • good deal.

crazy that for $10 extra a month you own the phone. Lease would only really be worth it if you can tax deduct?

  • +2

Good deal I believe. My only turn off is no overseas minutes. One of the many cons of being an expat :(

    • +1

There's a $5 extra for 150 mins in 40 countries. But my country is not included. Maybe yours is. :(

Edit: I think you have to add $10 by calling Optus, maybe they're removing international calls after 21 May 2018. Found more info in here

  • Do you still get $10 off for an additional service?

    • yes.. nbn .. cable net or fixed line phone

  • International (Australian) S9s apparently not as good as American version, just a heads up. Reason why I got the S8 on a deal recently instead of S9.

    • -4

That's not true. Infact the international version is better cause it can be rooted and loaded with a custom rom. If you did your research you would know this.

"If you did your research you would know this."

Hey Sam91, why is it people can't stop being arseholes to other people?

The Exynos 9810 supplied in the Samsung S9 International version is being recorded as not just being slower than the Qualcomm 845 in the American version, but slower many times than the S8s E8895 in multitasking:

        https://www.anandtech.com/show/12478/exynos-9810-handson-awk…
        https://www.anandtech.com/show/12520/the-galaxy-s9-review/6

        https://www.anandtech.com/show/12620/improving-the-exynos-98…

There is my research, it is faster in single threaded synthetic benchmarks, but in real case uses, multitasking and gaming it falls behind the Qualcomm 845, and many other chips including sometimes the S8 chip. I was trying to bring awareness before people spent a lot of money on a premium phone.

        • That's the spirit.

        • +1

          Nice reply my man!

Seeing as you seem to be a bit of an expert or at least at researching. Do you have any info of the power consumption difference between the 845 and 9810? I am not too concerned about performance but more battery life.

        • @knobbs:

According to the articles, the Exynos 9810 consumes a lot more power at load and generates more heat than the Qualcomm 845 and the S8s Exynos 8895, that is why Samsung have introduced the down clocking of the 9810 during many operations so that it runs more energy efficiently. Regardless it still consumes more power than the 845. Though in the article it mentions an options in the settings to run 'CPU Limited Mode', reduces speeds of CPU and almost halves the energy consumption if that is any help.

Definitely not an expert, I do enjoy researching some subjects, such as phone CPUs. I wouldn't do this for the phones cameras or audio.

        • @FabMan: Ohhhh yes I will have to check in on that. In developer options I am guessing?

  • I know it's in the other deal but it might be good to mention that this isn't available for Trade Up or Flex Upgrade Customers :)

  • How long till these hit the $59 mark with international calls.

  • The international calls offering is now a donkey on the new plans compared to the old plans, excluding unlimited calls to the Philippines to a 10 buck pack with only 300 minutes.

    • Username checks out, but your comment does not make sense.

      • If you remember the old plan you would have noticed that Philippines was on the included unlimited international calls countries.

On the new plans Philippines is now off the list of unlimited call countries. To call someone in the Philippines on the new plans you need to purchase an additional 10 dollar international call and text package from Optus again otherwise you will pay Optus their expensive flagfall rate by the minute/s.

This new additional call and text pack only has 300 minutes to Philippines with unlimited sms per month.

        • I never recalled unlimited calls to Philippines

  • My lease is almost 1 year and I am due for a new optus trade up. Is this available for trade up in store as well or online only?
