This is like paying for a box to watch Netflix (only) on that is the price of a whole new Smart TV…

I'm sure there is a cheaper way to find recipes and cooking methods.

    UMM WHAT THE HELL

Do you get a trial membership for a year?

    • 6mths trial when you purchase the cook-key

So this is an expensive WiFi adaptor for your expensive thermomix that lets you upload recipes from a website you need to pay $49 per year to access? I gotta try something cooked in a thermomix, must be amazing.

    • I gotta try something cooked in a thermomix, must be amazing.

      It's awful.

    • The adapter is made even more expensive because for some stupid reason, it is incompatible with 9/10 ISP supplied routers, and a lot of access points. My brother has one, had to regret to 3G just to use it as why should he have to buy a new router to use it…

We have one (well 2 actually) and love it, but the whole cook key is a joke.

There are a group of people who hack the cook chips and recently the cook key. The chips are just small usb drives and this is just a cheap wifi adaptor. there is no justification for the price + subscription fee.

Do thermomix still explode and burn people?

  • Thermomix Cookie. Sounds delicious.

  • I bought one and love it. Its not just the recipes it is guided cooking

The Thermomix is the worst POS kitchen appliance you could burn your money on. Seriously. The only way to get one is to go to a 'Thermomix Party'. It's a damn cult.

To add insult to injury, the food out of one tastes awful. I've tasted better food on an airplane than one from a Thermomix.

For the same amount of money, you could get a Vitamix and a Kitchen Aid, and still have spare change.

    • -1

Well, it's not a cult. If you wanted to purchase a M'Benz, would you go to Ford? no, the same way you wouldn't go to Bellini to buy a Thermomix.

Are you neging the item or the deal?

      • -1

Yeah, but I don't have to attend a party to purchase a Mercedes.

Negging both because they're poor value.

        • -1

You don't need to attend a party to purchase a thermo… same way you don't need to attend a tupperware party to purchase items…

@Belistic: It's sold by door-to-door sales people who hype up people who have nothing better to do with their lives. I'm sorry to have made you regret your expensive, not so useful (and potentially lethal) purchase, but that's purely what it is. Many of us can make chocolate custard in equipment that costs less than $2500.

          @antler:

lol… I'm far from regretting it… but if you enjoy simple custard, good for you… I'm happy for you !!!

@Belistic: Good luck learning how to cook!!

      Thats rubbish haha

  • Thermo mix was on 3aw there is a recall on thermo mix as they explode and the company is in the prices of huge fines for misleading its customers about all the defective devices

I’ve got the key and do not understand why you can’t look for recipes via the machine? It’s cumbersome. You log in to Cookidoo on your computer/phone etc. You pick the recipes. And then it gotta be synced to the machine.

There are forums out there with heaps of recipes and they’re also rated so you know what’s good and what’s not. Only shortfall is it’s not guided, which is one of the key features of this machine. I guess it’s somethjing you gotta weigh up - price vs guided steps.

I'm waiting for the up-grade that tells you when it's dinner-time.
