if my graphic card had DP output, my display had DVI, do I need extra adapter to connect them?

  Probably suggests you are using an older model monitor and there would be no reason to use a DP cable.
  
  The monitor will still perform to its specs regardless if you use a DP or DVI cable.

    Thanks for the suggestion. I am having 3 displays & wish to had digital output to all of them. Most of the budget graphic cards I saw had 1x DVI, 1x HDMI & 1x DP, that's the reason I wish to use the DP port.
