    I'd rather punch holes in the walls and send my cables through than pay $120 for this.
    This is against ozbargain spirit.

      I'd prefer to do my own cabling… But, yeah yeah I know it's illegal.

      You're should get at minimum 300 Mbps throughput, so should suffice for most.

      I am in a rental so that isn't really an option. Especially when they put the damn phone line in the kitchen.

  • I'm using Netgear PL1000. Speed varies between 45-65 Mbps (iperf).
    It really depends on your power cables, I'm renting a pretty old place.
    Still better than wifi.

      AV2 is a huge improvement to AV1, I bought one of this last week, paid much more for it. my place is also quite old 30+ years, im getting 1330mpbs during I could get 120MB/s easy

    Also on the side note, I work in the IT distribution industry, the word is out that Wireless1 is closing down or going into Administration.

    My experience with this device - I have upstairs to downstairs:
    1. too wide to occupy a single socket in a dual outlet - I lose the second socket;
    2. I get max 50Mb/s, iPerf with 10 simultaneous streams (aka "client threads"), and about 30Mb/s with a single stream.

      50Mb/s or 50MB/s?

  • I bought one a few days ago to replace the wireless for my new TV and wow what difference it made.

    I'm now able to watch Netflix 4K without constant reload. Great improvement, very happy.

    Good units, just beware of the width. See image for reference (credit balster_neb)

  • Should I get the AV1000 (at almost half the cost) or AV2000? I would probably be on NBN in a couple of years (if lucky), would getting AV1000 become my bottleneck? or would it be fast enough even for NBN? I'm coming from wireless N (2.4ghz) and just wanted to improve gaming/stability over wifi…

    I'm really hoping I can get the cheaper AV1000…
