  • How would gaming go on this laptop?

    • The GPU is an entry level chip, alright for simple games and general use.

      Wouldn't handle demanding games.

Pretty terrible as a gaming laptop. Benchmarks

Older games are fine but even a semi-modern esports title like Overwatch struggles.

Also this is an older generation GPU, and isn't based on Polaris. Its not as good as say the RX550 found on the Lenovo E-series

Don't game on a laptop. This needs to be said on every thread smh

      • +3

Why? Nvidia 10 series GPU's are only 5-10% slower than their desktop counterparts. They're perfectly capable of 1080p 60fps on max visual settings. Not everyone wants to or can sit down behind a desktop to game all or part of the time. Get with the times.

FYI I have a gaming laptop and desktop, and they perform equally well in games. Obviously the experience is better on the PC due to to the superior peripherals, though technically I could hook my laptop up to those same peripherals for the same experience. The only real advantage of the PC is superior airflow for cooling and the fact they're like Lego when it comes to upgrading or replacing components. But they're also not portable…

Its roughly on par with a 940MX. Technically these are not gaming GPU's. If you're sticking to mobile/tablet type games it'll be fine, but even something relatively light like Dota 2 or Overwatch will require a few compromises regarding resolution/FPS/visual settings.

    Call Lenovo's telesales number on 1300 557 073

I don't think that's right, I just called them and asked for Tightarse and they put me through to GrindR support.

Really scraping the bottom of the barrel now, aren't you?

      • -1

        lmao

      • No, I can go much lower.

        • Go on..

        • Be careful what you ask for, he might post another Domino's deal.

        • Oh really? You posted the exact same comment the last time this deal was on.

        • @Lorindor:

It wasn't the exact same comment.

  • Ahh if this was touchscreen

Benchmark test results indicate this piss weak GPU offers almost no improvement over the Intel iGPU so seems pointless to pair these items together unless all you are trying to do is offer another laptop with dedicated graphics in name only.

    • Dedicated vram means alot please.

  • If only GPU was RX 560 2gb Desktop version like! Would be perfect

  • Can you claim TRS when you buy at lenovo online?

I read somewhere that you need your name on the invoice if you purchase more than 1k ?

    • +1

when you buy it enter your name

  • Can some one please comment on the portability size and the screen? Eg can you see clearly from the side up down

    • Yeah, easy to read. I got mine 3 days ago and pretty happy with it. The backlit keyboard is an absolute joke though - lights around the keys, not through the letters as you would expect when it is typically $50 extra for that feature.
Also delivery will vary from 3 days to 3 weeks, so enjoy that gamble.

    • youve been to the upside down? danana nanana nanana

  • I wish they had offer for the 8250U + 16GB RAM.

  • Honestly the difference you get from these dedicated graphics cards vs the integrated intel graphics is barely noticeable or it's so throttled in actual usage it's hardly worth it. Better off just buying a thin & light and getting an external usb-c gpu to run games at full speed

    • Well you wouldn't be considering a Radeon 530 if you were also considering an external 1060/1070/1080 now would you? You'd be cross-shopping a laptop which already has those GPU's within it, in which case the performance differentials are "barely noticeable" provided your laptop has adequate cooling.

Bought one from last deal. Nice machine but the fan is running constantly and there is no way to turn it off. Very annoying.

    • Have you checked for a bios update?

      • Nope. Will check that. Ta

  • Forget the RAM I want the spill resistance & backlit keyboard

  • Just bought this, let's hope it's good!

  • Hey guys,

So I've read it's not a gaming laptop. How would it go with Civilization 6? That's the only game I play.

I'm comparing this vs a Dell XPS 15 which has a 7th gen i7 but better GPU.

    Thanks!

      https://www.notebookcheck.net/Civilization-VI-Notebook-and-D…

It ranks pretty low on the chart, and it shares it's rank with the Intel HD graphics. Not very playable.

For the $1100 price range you can usually find laptops with better MX150 GPU's, and around $1200~1299 you can find GTX 1050 Ti's which are several times faster than this.

this isn't a gaming laptop. The Lenovo V series are "Value" and budget oriented models. They do have a "Y" series which have better guts and the Legion series which are comparable to Dell Inspiron Gaming series.

  • anyone know how the cooling on this is? I was actually going to get the new e480 but i looked up that the thermals under load was just astronomical for that one so just a bit worried about thermals for this model

  • Now showing as $1099

    • +1

Correct. Price is only reduced after you apply the coupon, as stated in the OP.

      • Thanks, got confused with the Lenovo deal discount with this coupon code.

Any coupon for other Lenovo models such as the E480?
Missed out on the E480 deal

  • What's the quality of the screen like? My Asus has so much lightbleed I cry everytime I use it :-(
