Can this be used as just a wireless router behind an nbn (non wireless) modem?
Edit: this may be the answer according to specs… one (1) Fast Ethernet port can be used as WAN port to connect to cable/fibre modem … and one of the rear ports says "LAN2/WAN"
Yes but speed may suffer depending on how fast the internet service is, how many devices are using the network and what the devices are doing (more connections adds more work for the router processor).
“Yes but speed may suffer depending on how fast the internet service is”
It’s NBN, how fast can it be?
it's satellite NBN, so the router certainly won't be the bottleneck ;)
Yes I have this router and am using this way. You just need to change the one setting under WAN Setup "Use port 2 as" WAN.
Anyone know. Can this be used as a modem only, ie dmz or bridge mode?
No nbn?
If you have FTTN I can't see why not.
Because FTTN uses VDSL, and this is an ADSL modem?
If you've got FTTN NBN (VDSL) this won't work. Technically you could probably get it to work but it'd only sync at ADSL2+ speeds (20/1). You can use it as a router only with a separate NBN modem, or just buy an all-in-one FTTN modem/router
Using this exact router for NBN. You have to change one WAN setting "Use port 2 as" to WAN.
It has one wan port so should be able to use it as a wireless router for your hfc nbn
Used one as a wifi router in front of a dm200 as I got a lower sync on n300, worked fine, go from lan port modem to the dual wan/lan port on the n300, worked straight away.
Would this work for NBN FTTP?
Afaik FTTP does not require special router. When I was troubleshooting my FTTP connection I was asked to connect the laptop to the NBN device to test connection.
Yup you can ethernet straight into the UNI-D port on the NTD to get a connection.
This router is fine. Stick a cable in the WAN port and you're good to go.
How about as a repeater / range extender?
Just got one, seems to be an improvement on the speeds of my ancient bob lite.
Here's a pic of the manual included… I assume this means you can use it as a repeater?

Had a look at the manual says can set up as repeater.
Awesome, cheap for what is probably a lot more powerful than a wall plug or USB type unit
Is this good as a stand alone ADSL modem or is there better recommendation at similar price?
Is there anything at similar price now !?
The ASUS 4-port for $15 delivered was better, but a rarity.
Anybody else having trouble with Paypal on HN site?
Have tried 3 times and the process completes with 'Order Now' and nothing - no debit from PP and no emails to indicate.
Just bought one using Paypal from HN site. Transaction went through seamlessly via mobile. Weirdly order confirmation didn't come from HN yet, but order number is displayed online. Hope I get a call tomorrow for collection.
I think it was because I was on a VPN.
Very good price but I would suggest to keep eyes on the firmware update availability.
Netgear is notorious to keep up with security patches.
im not familiar with tech game but arent modems+router in the range of $100. (since even sh*tty ones from tpg are in this range) Is this an equivalent product or something completely different?
Clearance price for old model.
No AC wifi. People want the latest shiny things, even if they are on 6Mbps adsl, and the wifi makes no difference.
Stupid website changes the item to $59 when I go to cart.
Can you use this to connect to hdd?
No usb
Excellent price!
