Was looking for a new mesh system to replace my RBK50 that recently died and found that the RBK853 is selling for ATL at 3x Camels. This system has been around for a while so it is not the newest tech however it is adequate for me as I am only on a 250/25 plan.

Also to note, the Orbi RBKE963 ($1,529.15) is also at ATL on 3x Camels if you are more of a power user and require the extra bandwidth.

  • For most Australian houses…I'd just go for 1x cheap router.

    No need to pay $787.

Depending on the construction of the home, for brick veneer I’d say it would be enough however for double brick or concrete homes with a concrete slab on the first floor definitely more than 1 unit

that was exactly the same mistake I was doing for years! Then I upgraded to the 2-pack of this and never looked back. Connections are far more reliable, fast, and it can handle 50+ devices without struggling.

    • Entirely depends on how your house is setup, data point locations, etc. but I'd say most houses would definitely benefit from having two APs.

  • Great mesh router. I got the 2 pack when it was $379 and very happy with it.

Recently upgraded from a 2 mesh system to this 3 mesh system. It’s pretty reliable and range is okay. Works well with my smart home / CCTV system.

The main difference from 2 to 3 was it removed a couple of dead-spots in my home, which was worth the upgrade.

At this price, wouldn't you go for a WIFI 7 mesh combo instead? Honestly a bit rich for a WIFI 6..

  • You could buy 3 GL.inet Flint 2 (MT-6000) routers for that, each of which could run rings around these.

  • I believe Netgear is charging an additional monthly subscription fee for parental control.
