@wikiwiki: I legitimately just spent 10 minutes on Google trying to figure out if this means noon or midnight. I still am not sure.

        • +1
        • @BargainMac: thanks for the straightforward answer. Google was not so accommodating.

        • @BargainMac:

12pm is noon as a standard everywhere.

          May be.
But as 11:59pm is about midnight, for a 24 hours clock person it is not so "obvious".
Yes, after memorizing it is. Been there, done that.
But it is not obvious. As 12:00 is … ;-)

  • Maybe you can update that sitewide doesn't include the services mentioned on the main page.

Not in title so not a dupe.

    • +1

Think you will find if the deal isn't in the title it can be posted seperatly. Can't be bothered finding it in the rules for you though.

  • When does this end.

    Thanks!

I'm servicing the car this weekend, so perfect timing.

20% on oil is above average price. I typically pay $6/litre on full synthetic oil. Stock up when there are bigger promotions on… also filter etc are cheaper on smaller online stores (sparesbox etc.).

      • where when how, please explain :)

        • +1

5L Castrol Edge packs (various viscosity values) come regularly on sale around $30 on either SCA and Repco. This happens approx twice a year. I stock up when this occurs. Have 10+ 5W30 and 2 of 5W40 currently in stock. Same goes for other brand synthetic oils, if you're not from Castrol camp.

For Filters I've found these typically cheaper at Sparesbox.com.au and buy 4-5 at one time (oil, air, cabin etc.) to get the bill over $50 to get free shipping. Also sometimes Sparesbox has a coupon of their own as well to bring it down further.

You'd probably have to spend a bit more than this deal but it'll cover a lot of services you'd do in future. Also all these bottles take up some space in garage that's all (so be prepared to have an argument with your partner).

But would suggest against deferring the service to save a few bucks, rather doing it religiously as soon as it becomes due.

      • I dunno about sparesbox. they've often sent me the wrong part or taken an order on a part they can't provide. I do agree though about buying at the right time. SCA had some really good deals on Castrol fully synthetic a while back which has been very helpful.

Definitely agree with being patience and prepared. Saves a fair bit in the long run.

        • I always found sparesbox delivered. However in your case where you may have gotten the wrong part they will pay return shipping and refund or replace under their garauntee for the right fit.

        • I haven't had issues with sparesbox either, perhaps because I only order servicing parts on popular cars.

        • I bought from Sparesbox numerous times. They always delivered the right things and their online help is very responsive.

      • I too stock up (have 50L of full synthetic oil at home) to service my 3 cars.

But this time, servicing an new (old) car for my niece so need some parts asap.

Usually I order Mann filters from sparesbox/runautoparts. But due to shipping, if I only need a filter or two, it's not worth ordering online.

I bought a SCA branded oil filter, I would never use it on my own car, but this car is pretty old. I read the oil capacity for the engine is 2.7L including filter! lol

        • +1

I recently bought Mann filters from Amazon.de … I was surprised how much cheaper it was.

        • @OldBugger:

Thanks for the tip! I'll remember it for next time. I enough oil/air/cabin filters for the next 2 services for all 3 cars :)

I checked out the prices on Amazon.de for oil filters and there's minimal savings but the air and cabin filters are definately cheaper. I will have to do a bulk order to make it worthwhile due to shipping charges.

        • +1

          @OldBugger:

Check this out for a laugh.

          https://www.amazon.de/Mann-Filter-HU-925-Oelfilter/dp/B000CB…

New for EUR 7.16 or used for EUR 3.35

I'm not so sure I'd want an used oil filter. It could just be carton damage but it doesn't clarify how used is used.

        • +1

Hey just used sparesbox for a fuel filter and it came out best especially with free shipping over $50. Mann filter was actually $40 so I threw in a couple of spark plugs. Plus got 5% from cash rewards.

Anyway, thanks for the tip, JB

        • @OldBugger:

I bought some brake pads and brake rotors this week.

Brake pads where cheap locally. But even with shipping the 14kg brake rotors were cheaper from Germany!

        • @JB1: yeah that's madness. From Amazon.de?

        • @OldBugger:

Skandix who sell Volvo and Saab parts. Ironically not based in Sweden.

        • @JB1: hey JB, how long does it usually take for your sparesbox items to arrive? I still haven't received mine and it's expected in another week totalling 17 days. My Amazon order from Germany arrived sooner. Maybe they get their parts from overseas?

        • @OldBugger:

My previous orders from SparesBox were between 3-5 days. Perhaps they didn't have it in stock and have to order it in.

  • bought three times their top quality car cover but all ended up cracking at the end…. anyone has better options? maybe somewhere else?

    • +1

You can go get a heavy duty tarp and put it over the SCA with the soft insides.

Even the best(i can google) tarp is warranty for only 3 years. Australia has one of the highest UV radiation in the world.

  • Where do you put the coupon in? i cant see a spot?

    • nvm, found it, add coupon button, it was a little mushed in chrome.

  • +1

Thanks OP - got the prorack rails and mounting kit i've been waiting to buy until the next sale :)

    • what did it set you back OOC?

      • Fitting kit ended up being $64 and the S-Wing Rack $260

        • same kit for my car is cheaper on ebay without a sale.
$220 on ebay vs $399 at SCA (before sale)

        • @wikiwiki: Yeah I have been watching this for a while hoping that a sale on roofracks will coincide with the 20% off but it's been futile.

  • any suggestion for a decent aftermarket reverse camera/screen combo? thanks!

    • Probably look at ebay rather than SCA, their car electronics are usually overpriced (besides their car stereos when there's a sale stacked with the 20% off

      • +1

        thanks jackson!

        • No worries, just beware that quality can be all over the place on eBay, but on these specialist car electronics items often cheap crap is bought from China and sold in mainstream shops for huge mark-ups, so you may as well go to the source and get it cheaper

  • Entertainment Book gives you an additional 10% but it might limit on using more than 1 gift card. Really tempting to get a Maxtrax

  • Um….how do you apply the coupon 'AFTERPAY'.

Do you have to use Afterpay to get the 20% off?

    • You use coupon codes when you're about to checkout. However, this code expired at noon today.

  • Bugger…I thought it started at noon today.
    Thanks zachwright95 for replying

  • Bugger, I set a reminder in my calendar for the 15th, but didn't realise it ended at noon. :-(

Next time in title or description please

  • The last armour dashboard protectant I bought had a nice coconut odour but I can't remember which type it was. The original seems to be odourless.do you know if the law shine one has the coconut odour ?
