[QLD] Free Tow Bar, Tow Ball & Wiring Supplied & Installed for Selected Vehicles @ TAG Towbars & Towing Accessories

1100

Was looking at getting a tow bar and came across Tag. Decided to click on the pop up that said vehicles needed / lend your car, get free towing products. All it costs you is your time to drive there and back for them to spend time on your vehicle for a few hours, and again for fitting. I'm currently waiting in their lounge area working remotely on my laptop while I wait.

I see it as a good $800-$1000 saving.

If you are located around Brisbane and interested in providing your vehicle for development please email [email protected] or call (07) 3208 3022. All developments are undergone at the TAG Fitment Centre, Unit 1/64 Compton Rd, Woodridge QLD 4114.

Our Australian made Towbars are proudly developed in Brisbane, and from time to time, we seek access to vehicles to aid in the development of new Towbars and wiring harnesses. Those who provide their vehicle for these development purposes will receive complimentary products from that project.

Vehicles required for a towbar and wiring generally require: 1 Vehicle Required for 2 Separate days (1 day for scanning, 1 day for proto test-fit (can stay on vehicle if test-fit is okay). Then another vehicle required for 1 day (Final Test-Fit).

Click on the link to see the vehicles they need:
mainly BYD, GWM, LDV, Skoda and VW. There is the odd Audi Q9 Haval H6 HEV, Mercedes Vito, Mitsubishi Pajero, Renault Koleos, Toyota Camry Sedan.

Danny (store manager) is super friendly and great to communicate with.

This is an email I received from him:

No catches or tricks just the time to wait is a bother for some customers.

Warranty on the Towbar will be forever as long as you own the car. Once you sell the car there is no more warranty.

So what's in it for them? I'm confused

They get to use your car to test their product on and get to scan the exact dimensions of it to refine their product before they try to manufacture and ship it to others for installation. Saves them from having to hire an equivalent car to develop the product for, or "wing it" and then have to process returns/redevelop the product when it doesn't fit the customer's car after they ship it.

Need one of these in Sydney

      • Normal practice for smaller manufacturers/retailers of aftermarket accessories.

I got a free pair of roof racks for a VW Golf back in the day when i was one of the first to buy a new shape one in exchange for lending them the car for the day. IIRC the stock photos on their site are still my (old) car haha

Research and development of the towbar and wiring. essentially you are a Guinea pig.

      • and don't forget the bumper cut

They can prototype a towbar for a car they don't currently have a design for, without having to go out and buy the car

Mustn't be in rental fleets yet!

  • Interesting, we shall see what comes of it. Thanks.

I just left. 1st visit took 3 hours. I told them I posted their offer online and to expect to receive an influx of calls and service guy gave me a free towball cover lol.

Obviously cannot speak for the product but the guys there are fantastic and I definitely rate them.

Your car was returned with its engine?

    Bonus.

I suppose they'd already have a towbar for my 1965 Fiat 500, so can't expect a freebie. Dang it.

I've been a qualified mechanic for over 40 years and have fitted many towbars in that time. I bought one of these TAG bars for my Isuzu D-Max X-Terrain and it seems to be very well built and was easy to fit. If all their bars are the same quality as the one I got, I can vouch for their workmanship, very reasonable prices and great fit. Great Aussie product!!

do they still steal your shoes in Woodridge

I'm a tow bar fitter mate. I fit tow bars.

    • The first thought that comes to mind is that they want those specific vehicles to swap out parts, that's what might be in it for them.
As the saying goes, "if it sounds too good to be true, it probably is".

This made my day, you are a star!

      • I wonder if parts for the likes of BYD, GWM, LDV, Haval would be worth the risk.

  • Opposite Lock do sorta similar internally and with friends of friends etc for developing bullbars. Generally, if theres a new model they're quickly looking for people with the car to scan and test fit things.

  • Now just need to figure out how to get to Brissy to obtain this deal :)

    • In case you were wondering and trying to coincide a holiday in and around Brisbane, You'd have to leave your vehicle for several months and/or travel twice. Once for measure and second for installation

No love for us outsiders then lol…
