Does the deal start at midnight?

    • +1

      6PM tomorrow evening. (AEST)

  • I heard in the review that it still has micro USB rather than USB Type C. Is that correct?

    • +1

      Correct

    • What's so bad about micro usb compared to usb type C? Always see people complaining about this!

      • +2

They can't get iPhone like experience.

      • With Micro USB you always seem to have to try and plug it in 3 times before you get the connector the right way haha. USB C doesn't matter which way, like iPhone cables.

      • usb type c is much stronger and more durable

you can get one of those usb c flexible arm charging stand things that support itself on just the port, the same product cant be made using microusb

      • +1

Yeah i dont get it either. Most of my devices are still micro usb, i dont really wanna replace all my cables just for a reversible plug on my phone.

Charge speed is still the same, and from what I've seen transfer speed is still the same. Next to no benefits when it comes to phones

        • Correct. For some reason I can't find a QC3.0 charger that has two QC ports so I can charge one device with microusb cable and other with type C

    • yep thats true. its also only usb 2.0 and no fast charging :(

  • Is this full vision with 'to die for' bezels?
Why these specials never come on my pay day.

    • Nowhere near the Mi Mix series grade I would say, but the price diff makes up for it.

  • How does this compare to my OPO?

    • +1

      Depends. What's your model?

      • OnePlus One, not an OPPO.

        • Ah, well. In that case, even without knowing what your model is, I can tell you your OPO has better parts. The Redmi line is Xiaomi's budget line. Their Mi line is their premium line.

        • @flaminglemon:
Even though my phone is three years old?

        • @Shiny Mew: https://www.gsmarena.com/compare.php3?idPhone1=6327&idPhone2…

Depending on which benchmarks you look at, the OnePlus has slightly better performance.

The photos of the OnePlus seem to have better colour, and can take 60fps videos. I'm surprised the Redmi 5 PLus can't, to be honest.

          The battery is good upgrade.

If you want a similarly performing phone with a bigger battery, get this. Otherwise, check out the Mi line of phones.

  • Just ordered "Xiaomi Redmi 5 Plus 4GB 64GB Mobile Phone Snapdragon S625 Octa Core MIUI9 5.99" Full Screen 2160*1080 4000mAh 12.0MP"
amount deducted in AUD eventhough it shows the amount in USD. Total amount detected is 252.25 AUD (202 USD after 4$ discount for first time order in ali)
    Thanks :)

    • +2

The sale is supposed to be at 6pm tomorrow for 188AUD, cancel this order and buy tomorrow.

      • +2

He bought the 4G/64G version, not the same one listed here.

      • How do you tell the sale starts at 6pm tomorrow? (i.e. Tue, which is now today)

That would explain why the "go to Deal" link shows prices as "US $174.99 - US $246.24" (not OP's US $150).

and maybe why I can't select a bundle or colour, nor add to cart, nor buy. Or are those problems with their mobile site (I'm on a phone)?

  • +1

Many other phones going on sale in 12 hours time.
    https://sale.aliexpress.com/__pc/2018_phone.htm?spm=2114.110…

  • But the same link shows 5 plus for the price of 169USD

    • +1

i think deal start at 6pm as per comment above

  • Are there any Xiaomi phones with onscreen buttons? So I can swap the back/menu buttons

    • You can change them on note 4x

  • +1

    this or note 4x?

    • +2

Do you like the menu/back/home buttons visible or do you like the 5.99in screen but have to swipe the bottom edge for the menu?
Are you fine with medium quality pics or good pics with the new camera on the redmi5?
That's pretty much the difference, everything is virtually identical

      • I think I will go with the 4x, don't really worth to spend $50 extra.

  • Will this work with both optus and kogan 4G?

    • +2

Optus - yes, but you're just missing band 28
Kogan - yes for all available bands

  • +1

21-29 days via DHL? That's so long

  • +1

Site says 'Estimated delivery time' via DHL is 21-29 days for Australia. Someone above mentioned 8 days, I'm confused, where is 8 days mentioned for Australia delivery?

    • +1

If you click through the seller's ads of other phones, some say 8-16 days, some say 11-19 days and some 21-28 days, all with DHL. My experience with DHL is closer to 8 days than 29 days with this seller.

      • It's nothing about DHL time frame, it's about how they allocate stock

  • I waited nearly 7 weeks for Bluedio headphones, mind you that was over the Christmas period, but yeah expect a long wait

  • Ok, last question:
This phone OR 'Global Version Xiaomi Mi A1' ?

    • How much is A1?

      • USD 197.99

        • Role Gold only
          Yuck!

  • If you want stock android experience then you know the answer

  • gsmarena says Mi5 Plus has a fast battery charging 5V/2A

  • +1

    Showing full price still

  • +1

    Looks like sale start 7PM

  • Why can’t I get that price?

    • It hasn't started yet, 5 minutes to go..

  • -1

Rose gold only at this price guys

    • Yuck

      • dont blame me

        • I'm not :)

    • Rose gold is showing up at 174.66 USD. I'm only getting Gold at 139.99 USD. Do you mean Gold? or are we seeing different discounts?

    • Sure its not gold mines showing that

  • Only the gold for 187

  • +1

Damn, I am ok with the back to be gold since I will be using a case at all time. But I do want the front to be black, not happy.

  • +1

Bought a gold one. I will be using a case so it won't matter and the front bezel is white which makes it look like an iPhone. I was due for a phone upgrade :)

  • Bought black one at 178

    • +1

      Proof

    • Well done. You must have got in early then ha. Showing $230.99 delivered via DHL for the black now.

      • Got diff specs

  • +1

    Is the gold sold out?

    • +1

      Looks that way.

      • +1

        LOL that was quick!!!

        • +1

Well, Chinese New Year is coming soon, I am sure there will be another round of specials. Not in a hurry… Mi Max 3, when will you come out?

        • @maogua: What I love about this phone is that you are getting flagship specs for a budget/lower tier price. Xiaomi has surpassed Huwei as the budget king!

  • +4

    Well… that was a joke.

  • +1

    yep sold out

  • +1

I added it to my cart and it was 221… Even after showing 187 in the previous page. Went back to the previous page and tried again… still 221. Then it was sold out.

  • That sold out quickly

  • What a load of poop… 20k unit yesterday and all sold out in 30 minutes… I guess they only had a few units on sale…

Just got this email from the seller re status of my order. Good to see they have pre-loaded it with their patented Xioami spyware so the Chinese govt can keep a close eye on my ozbargain habits.

"Thank you very much for placing order in our store!
We are contacting you regarding the Global ROM. We have to unlock the bootloader before flashing. It shows "Unlocked" when it just starts to boot after flashing. It has multi-language and Google Play. It can upgrade by OTA.
    Please be advised!
    Kind Regards
    Mi Global Store"

    • +2

Does it mean not in sealed box?

    • I've not got such an email for my order. Only mail I've got is Currently, your payment is 'Being Verified'. Payments are usually verified within blah blah

    • I've got the same email. What does it mean?

      • Not exactly sure.

        • +1

Do you know the difference between Multilanguage and global Rom. The prices product page says Multilanguage custom Rom in my order and This is the reply from seller.

For your better use, we will unseal the box to do "Quality Control",flash the Multi-language ROM and install Google play, after that we will seal it again perfectly!!!
But if you want a factory sealed box version, please leave me a message before I send it out.

Idk what they mean by quality control in quotes.Do you think I should ask them to send factory sealed version.

        • @sivshen: I thought you purchased from LITB. I'm not really sure what they are going on about here. TBH I don't mind either way as long as the product looks original and is untampered.

        • +3

@sivshen: this phone isn't the global version cos the global version comes in the box sealed with global ROM.

The reason they are flashing the ROM is because the global ROM for this phone only got released in the last week or so, and would need flashing over the top of the Chinese ROM
