24" LG 24MP59G IPS LED Monitor - $204.05 Shipped @ Computer Alliance on eBay

PICK5

Saw this when searching for a monitor and I thought it was a pretty good deal.
It's the lowest price available according to statice: https://staticice.com.au/cgi-bin/search.cgi?q=LG+24MP59G&spo…

Key specs are
- 5ms gtg/ 1 MBR (Motion Blur Reduction)
- 75hz
- 24 inch
- IPS
- Very decent colours for the price

Minor issues include

  • IPS glow
  • Blues/oranges seem more pixelated (This seems survivable considering the price and quality)

  • This is simply not a bargain, even if it's the lowest price for this particular monitor.

    • May I ask why?

      • A monitor with specs like this should be ~150.

        • Can you find me an example then?

        • @currentfad:
Im just kicking myself that I didnt grab that $150 ultrawide the other week!

        • @currentfad: Some of them aren't 75hz/ips/5/1ms.
But I get what you are saying. Similar quality for much less. But at this moment of time it's the best

        • @currentfad: Any better current deals around?

        • @Lockster: Except for that AOC Gaming 24"

        • @BTRaynes: Yeah true there are probably better deals but I couldn't see any active rip

        • @currentfad:

for those that aren't tech savvy if we don't know what models are what - what sort of specs or type of monitor shoudl we focus on when trying to get something cheap that has a decent screen to browse and do basic computing - i.e. videos, office work etc. no gaming or professional work. just to pair with a cheap refurbished SFF like the one advertised but sold out today:

        • @currentfad:

          thanks.

given this SFF style refurbished desktop has a display port - is this what works with that LG which takes DVI? Or can you get the same quality display by using a display to HDMI adapter???

          https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/201750264845

        • @SaberX: Doesn't really matter - DP, VGA, DVI, HDMI all the same for these types of monitors. It only matters when you're dealing with high resolution and/or high refresh rate monitors.

        • @currentfad:

ok thanks.wont bother looking at the display port vs hdmi vs vga then. May i ask what determines if I can hook up 2 monitors for dual screen display? Would it be the monitors compatability or the mobo of the SFF pc? or is it simply just a cable that splits the display port type into two heads for both screens?

So a standard resolution of 1920 x 1080 would be decent/expected for this pricepoint? and refresh rate etc. what should be a decent amount for one in this price range for everyday browsing etc and nothing intense.

        • @SaberX: If you aren't running an external GPU, your motherboard determines how many displays - from your link it says "Video OutputVGA + Display Port" so that's 2 monitors. Thus, one monitor should connect via VGA (on both ends), the other should connect via DP (on both ends).

1080p is still a good res, but if you do things like video production for example, it may be wiser to get a 1440p/4k just so that you fit more on your screen at one time.

For office work, your standard 60Hz refresh is just fine. Only matters when you game.

Ideally, you'd want a 27" 1080p at most, otherwise it's not sharp since it's a monitor and you sit close. I'd say anything <$200 is a decent deal.

  • Considering you can get a 32" Philips 60Hz IPS monitor for ~260, this seems like a pretty ordinary deal ($199 in boxing day sales from JW).

  • does it have mounting screws on the back. I need one for a arcade cabinet (must be 24")
