So why Xiaomi, you asked? Why pay 26 bucks for an ordinary looking black colour umbrella, with a fancy single button to 'automatically' open and close? I've seen those in Costco! Nothing new here. So if I'm buying this then I must be a certified Xiaomi fanboi!?

No - I actually was contemplating on the Blunt umbrella deal posted yesterday. I was willing to shell out more than double the Xiaomi one, at $68 so I looked for reviews and comments, just to convince myself it is a really high quality umbrella. It does what it advertises (according to one user, here and here), however, at that price point surely there have to be others that are as good, even if they aren't marketed as well.

What really got me sold on the Xiaomi was the fabric. It is not water resistant. It is water repellent. Credit to BlazinPast's comment from the previous deal. Here is the Youtube video with water repellent demo.

So for $26 it does a better job than the average 'ella and I'm happy it has other extra features (automatic button, ultra-lightweight, aluminium + fibreglass material, wind-resistant structure etc.). Honestly, I don't even care, it's just an umbrella after all. I only need it to work properly and not go out of shape after one use.

      Don't trust the specs provided on the website. According to DealExtreme, it is 90cm.

      Also, this umbrella may actually have the name "Mijia" - Xiaomi Mijia Automatic Umbrella?
