  • Cheers, just added another 3 years to my pro account.

    • +3

Are you able to let you know why you go for a 3-year plan over the Lifetime for an extra $15.60?

Are there any features you miss out on the Lifetime plan?

      • +1

        Save money till another offer

        • +1

I don't understand this as well. Isn't it cheaper just to get the lifetime?

        • @jjh7: if you have the money and want to stick with them, why not.

Thing is, there might be another offer like this or there might be other better offer from other providers in the future, so it's all based on your personal preference.

        • +3

          @jjh7:

World will end within 3 years and yippy will be a winner.

  • +1

    Working with US netflix?

    • +1

You may have to try 2 or 3 different US servers each time but I seem to have no problem 80% of the time

  • Cheers @r0xz. Been using these guys as a backup VPN past 2 years & whilst basic, have had no probs. Has killswitch, iOS apps, very quick on support and speeds are good with a good choice of servers. I think this may move them into my main VPN.

    • -1

      Has killswitch

      Does it kill everything?

      • Kill your internet connection.

  • +2

Any differences with the lifetime and the limited ones? New to this and have been looking for a vpn service sales

  • Thanks for this. Good value and great post directions r0xz!!

NB: After 10 years, you will need to email Windscribe's support team in order to have access for 10 years at no additional cost.

  • Can someone please tell me if they have Norwegian servers available?

  • My existing VPN is about to expire so great find with the 3 year deal!

  • this or PIA?

  • Do most people just buy a years worth as company's change to much for lifetime subscription?

  • Can anyone tell if they support torrens?

    • +1

      Yes

      • Thanks. How do you find which countries support it?

        • +1

They don't block torrent traffic. https://windscribe.com/guides

        • @r0xz: Cool. Thanks

        • most countries servers allowed for torrenting a few when you select from the list have a little "No p2p" icon

  • It looks like the subscription is for one device. Am I right?

    • I have their free version on a laptop and a tablet on the same account and have no problems.

      • Thanks. Which countries you need to choose for torrents?

        • I use their USA west (which gives the best connection on their free service) but have torrented with the Hong Kong connection too. The paid version has Aust connections and you may not be able to use those for torrenting

        • +1

@robbyjones: Yep. I thought, AU may not support it. Will check out
UPD: AU sever does work too

        • @bob19: No problens with torrenting thru Aussie servers and I find these the fastest. I only use Aussie and NZ servers with occasional German ones without any issues or slowdowns. No problems with accessing BBC iplayer either but as with US netflix, may have to try a few English servers before you get on.

        • +1

@Samdell: I tested AU and USA servers and US server was about double the speed for download.

    • Unlimited

      • Thanks

  • I dont have a vpn but use kodi regular,im trying to get itv player to work but i believe i need a vpn.
Is this a good vpn to have compared to others it looks cheap but is there any reason for that?
Was thinking of the 3 yrs option as less to pay.

  • forgot i had the free 50 gb pro from another deal, i know some one before said us netflix works but i tried all servers 2 times and didnt work , ymmv ofc

    • I tried the East Coast server but it didnt work then the US Central & worked fine. I just noticed that they now have a dedicated server for UK and US netflix called Windflix UK and Windflix US on their desktop version and tried both twice and they worked all 4 times. Not sure how long it will last but make hay whilst the sun shines. WooHoo

      • can confirm this server worked :D (windflix us / uk)

  • Hi guys, compared Windscribe to GetFlix Full VPN. Which one is better and more reliable?
    Thanks

  • So can you use it on 2 devices laptop and phone if I purchased lifetime.

    • +1

      Unlimited device, so, yes.

      • +1 for me too. I use it on my iPad, laptop and Desktop all at once as well as my son on his Surface. Works on 4 devices at same time no probs.

  • can someone kindly advise me, when you use this windscribe for torrenting, do you turn off the windscribe firewall?

everytime i turn it on, the torrent wont work. any advise, please. thank you

    • I have the firewall turned on all the time. This helps the killswitch kick in and I have no problems at all. Whilst Windscribe is connecting I dont have any web access but as soon as it connects, it is all systems go although I do sometimes get a message that I dont have internet access when I always do. Check to make sure that Windscribe is set up properly in any other Firewall/Security suite you may have on your system.

  • Does this works in China?

    • +1

I have used it in Tiawan, Hong Kong and in the border city of Shenzhen and it works in all three but I havent tried any Chinese cities other than HK & Shenzhen.

      • Great, thanks
Can't access Google from China which is really annoying.

  • doesnt work on amazon prime video, its able to detect that my browser is using proxy.

  • subscribed last night but not getting good speed, also it leaks DNS. any advice guys ?

  • have been using it since last year, no complaints. got it last year from ozbargain as a deal. so good, so many countries and 1 vpn for entire house, it even has an android/ios app. Also lets you access US netflix via browser easily. You can also use two instances(one in app and one in browser) of windscribe to hide your IP,

    • are you using it on default settings or made any changes ? desktop or the extension ? I am using PIA for last 2 years and never had any issue with the speed . On IPleak , its still showing australian when connected to canadian or any other server

      • no, i am using it on default. just turn on firewall on windscribe to make sure that it does not connect to internet without VPN, i think you visited IPleak when the windscribe was just turning on the VPN which resulted in showing Australia even when connected to other server.

  • new to VPN. will this slow down Xbox Live connection for gaming? Thanks.

    • +1

depends on your current speed & the VPN server location. Connect to the nearest local VPN server for better performance.

    • +1

In theory, yes. Using a VPN will slow your connection. The big question is: will you notice? Sometimes the download speeds are acceptable, sometimes not. You need to try using a VPN.

Windscribe has a refund policy. But you must request for a refund via email within 3 days as per their terms of service.

  • I've just signed up for 3 years, very simple process, got the code right away and was up and running withing a couple of minutes. Installed the Firefox extension, desktop app, and Android app on my phone, works very well so far.

Edit: Not the greatest speed on the "Best Location" Aussie server. My typical 50Mbps just went down to 10Mbps :(

    • have you made any changes to the settings or is it on default ?

      • default for now, tried with both firewall on and off…

        • it's been slow for me , tried both desktop app and extension as well. with PIA i never faced any issue regarding speed and DNS leak. This one still shows the Australian one when connected to other server locations. The last one or sometimes 2nd last ip is Australian.

  • There is also pure vpn and vpn unlimited on offer. do you know which ones are the best among all these?
    https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/346052

  • So this is my first attempt at a VPN and am impressed by the ease of use…having access to a certain pirate site is also a bonus…

  • Thanks OP! Just upgraded from the previous free 60gb deal.
Been happily using Windscribe on a number of devices in the house for a number of months now.

  • thanks. windflixus and uk servers work for me. nz server doesn't seem to be workign. hopefully that gets sorted soon!

  • Has anyone used this with Kodi? I am after specifically LibreElec distro. Tried to setup the free account with LibreEelec but no success. Can someone using this mention their experience and the speed and the quality of the video.

  • This so called lifetime is a 10 year license. Not really lifetime.

    • Read the fine print;

After 10 years, you will need to email Windscribe's support team in order to have access for 10 years at no additional cost.

      • I see. That's cool then.

  • this deal is still working and should be un-expired

  • Windscribe is real good for value, speeds are not too good tbh but it can torrent and it does it relatively well so think its a real bargain for the lifetime plan.

  • EDIT: Still working! (derp)
