Be nice to get away with it #winning

Hi just wondering before buying would be possible mount a graphics card Nvidia gt 1060 gigabyte , the mini itx with one fan, inside of it?I am talking about the the computer in the picture.
        This card:https://www.google.com.au/search?
        This one:http://www.mini-itx.com/58681523
        Thanks

How to get that voucher & where to apply?
I think eBay doesn't allow multiple vouchers.

      • +1

you're right, firstly 15% off didn't apply to eBay vouchers

secondly, you can only use either voucher or discount code at checkout, no double dipping

        • +1

          This isn't Myer after all.

  • The Dell Optiplex 9010SFF i7 would be good for an HPTC. My only issue, is my receiver is so old I need optical out. I wonder if you can pass DTS HD and Master Audio through HDMI on one of these.

    • Usb-> optical is easy and cheap

      • Definitely will not do the DTS MA /Dolby HD though.

        • I didn't think optical out supported the HD streams at all - USB or otherwise?

        • Optical spdif won't do either of those, but you said you need optical out….

Both the 900 series and 1000 (or even the 700 series if you find a used card) series nvidia gpu's will do DTS MA and Dolby HD via hdmi

      • Where would one get a USB to Optical out?

        • Umart msy etc

    • I was thinking of getting this and then buying a HTPC case and transferring the guts over.

  • Code not working for me.

Plenty of good info in prior posts, including this one by @scrimshaw and this one by @Lorindor.

Re Windows 10, note esp this and this.

    Here's some basic benchmarky stuff.

    This message approved by AngryChicken.

    • Also more info here

  • What is the warranty like with these machines?

    • +6

By standard we supply a 3 Month Return to base warranty. However we typically look after everyone regardless of what issue you have. If the issue is basic and we can diagnose remotely (faulty HDD for example) we will just ship the replacement parts.

  • +1

    It's a tight fit but I put a passive GT 1030 in the 9010sff for a 4K HTPC.

Quiet and capable PC that does everything I ask of it with ease.

    • +1

Do you need a dedicated GPU for 4k? No chance the i7 would be enough?

    • +1

Doing a little mining on the side? ;)

      • With a 1030?! Wouldn't even fkin bother

        • Maybe with one of the new crypto's. Fcuked you need a 15k rig to mine Bitcoin these days.

  • Do any of these machines have capacity for an SSD + HDD?

    • +5

The Dell SFF's can take 2 x 2.5" Drives by defualt with out removing the optical drive.

The 800 G1 has a space under the optical drive for a 2.5" HDD and a space for a 3.5" Drive.

The 9020 USFF can take 2.5" drives IF you macgyver it

      • +1

Also I'd say with a bit of self adhesive Velcro you're really only limited by the physical space and the number of data ports rather than the number of drive bays.

      • So the 800 G1 can take another 2.5" HDD coupled with the preinstalled SSD?

  • Would a GTX 1060 fit in one of the models on offer?

    • +4

I doubt it as they need a dedicated power plug. Upgrading the PSU on these is not possible.

      • Why is it not possible to upgrade PSU?

@Calmago what is the current PSU attached in the 9020 SFF?

        • +3

          They are propitiatory.

          9020SFF has 255w

        • +3

Not only is any upgrade not really on, but if the power supply dies it's not straightforward sourcing another one.

One of the risks with these boxes…

        • +2

          @Calmago: Maybe proprietary?
However propitiatory is appropriate to the season.

        • +3

          @AngryChicken:
I've bought about 20+ of these (not from this seller) and find them to be a capable office PC for most standard users.

Parts are readily available on ebay, Power Supply for instance:
          https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/DELL-Optiplex-390-690-790-990-90…

I have one with the CDROM drive replaced with an SSD caddie.

          GC

        • +1

@GC67: Oh yes, not as hard as i'd expected…

        • +1

          @AngryChicken:

Totally true but considering how cheap they are you can buy a new PC and swap the good bits over.

    • +1

No, they only take half height cards. See AngryChicken's links to previous posts for more discussion.

    • +3

      NO

      1) SSF - no low profile 1060 avaliable on the market atm
2)PSU is not good, small 255w PSU
3)if you want to upgrade, you have to buy "HP Z230 Z220 PSU Main Power 24-Pin to 6-Pin Adapter Cable" and upgrade the case AND PSU as well such as https://www.moddiy.com/products/HP-Z230-Z220-PSU-Main-Power-…
      4) There is poor air circulation in the case. A overworked GPU will surely overheat other components as well.

On the positive note you get RAM (which is very expensive at the moment), the i5 is about the same as a low end ryzen and get a motherboard that supports graphics cards.

      • I double that NO. Come back with at least a further 30% off and these very valid negative points ~may~ be able to be overlooked. YW.

    • +1

1050ti in these are about as high as you can go without stripping out the entire thing into a new case.

  • +1

Is there room in any of these for an additional 3.5 inch drive?

    • +2

There is only room for a single 3.5" drive. I can't see if it comes with a 2.5 or 3.5" drive in the description.

See page 14 - Dell Optiplex 9010 Technical Guide

      • +2

That's right - i've got the Optilex 9010 Desktop and there's only room for 1x 3.5", plus a 2.5" (SSD in my case). But i do have 3x SATA, so you can probably stuff another 2.5" in if you're keen. Pretty sure the SFF is the same … check the manuals…

        • Thank you both.

        • @Peace Maker: Actually 2x HDD only, as the third SATA port is taken up by the CD-RW. Oops.

  • Is there any way to transfer win10pro license from your PC to my second machine at home ?

    • I doubt it - once the OEM licence is activated it's tied to the hardware (motherboard in effect), though i stand to be corrected…

      • +1

You are correct, though if you ring Microsoft and tell them you bought the license bundled with a processor and memory and you have moved that to a new motherboard, you will often get a new key.

This was about 5-6 years ago though.

    • Unfortunately as it would be a OEM License, No it's only possible on retail licenses.

  • Purchased first item, thanks. Now need a bank loan to pay for Christmas grog, ham etc. Time to cash in my flybuys money methinks.

  • The 9020 SFF and the 9020 USFF… do both of these support upgrade with a low profile video card, or would the SFF be a better option?

    • Not the USFF only the SFF

      • Thanks for that - is the hdd upgradeable in these too, whilst keeping the license? (I assume the RAM is user upgradeable)

      • Oh crap, I bought this thinking it was SFF. I have made a request to cancel this and have put in another order for a SFF model.

  • any recommendations for entry level graphics card for Optiplex 9020 SFF?

  • In relation to the first one, i've asked the OP to clarify whether it's the SFF or Desktop (the eBay header includes both). It's either one or the other.

  • In regards to the HP Elitedesk 800 G1, I have a few questions;

Does it come included with an optical drive or would I need to buy one, and if so, what sort of optical drive could I install?

Is it possible to install a graphics card, and if so, what sort of graphics card could I install?

Is it possible to upgrade the CPU?

What kind of PSU is included?

Do you guys offer any upgrade options to the buyer? e.g. more ram, bigger SSD?

  • +1

    Anything with a bigger case?

    • +2

Hoping for the same. Was hoping for more 3.5" bays so can micro-server/HTPC

    • +1

Just buy a bigger case and transfer over the parts.

  • From these options, what would be the best choice for a home office user: word, excel, powerpoint, browser/youtube. Little or no gaming (ie solitaire!)
Output to a 1 x Full hd screen only, and plugging in a USB extender for multiple USB's, external HDD, etc.
Thinking anything with the SSD - so option 2 3 or 4.

    • All 3 would do it fine, option 3 is a smaller USFF PC vs 1,2 and option 4 is an i7 vs the i5 in options 2,3.

  • +4

I bought the i5 version of this last time it was posted on OzBargain for ~$200.

Computer was missing a rear fan. Very solid after sales support. Took 2 emails, a photo of my computer, 2 days. And a new fan arrived. Computer is going strong for a good 4 months now.

  • +1

"Just to confirm, 1050ti's are reported to work perfectly fine in these machines.
We sell a configuration with that card and these machines and have never had any reported issues."

Can't find where this configuration can be selected - what's the price for this to be installed?
$15 USB wireless option - capable of N or AC speed?

    • I can assure u that 1050ti works perfect with 9010 sff

  • Bought a 9010 SFF the last time it was posted.

Just FYI: even though it has a VGA and 2 DPs, it won't run 3 monitors despite what numerous people say online (they say that it will run it as long as you don't use DP adapters).

It does, however, support running outputs off both the integrated and discrete graphics at the same time, so you can run 3+ monitors if you pretty much get any graphics card.

  • hey guys does anyone have a link to where i could find a cheap 1050 ti low profile.

    • Gumtree might be your best bet for lowest prices but finding the low profile version might be difficult.

For reference I found a $130 GTX 1050ti in my area Sydney.

But it wasn't low profile iirc.

  • +1

I bought the Elitedesk g1. Looks like 1050ti Low profile cards are the way to go (https://forums.overclockers.co.uk/threads/hp-elitedesk-800-g…).

Thanks OP! Hopefully you can ship it today so I can get it ASAP!

    • +2

Thanks for your purchase, we have been smashed today. Hopefully you got a tracking number to say its been shipped today, if not it should go tomorrow.

      • I did get one in the afternoon! Hopefully AusPost will be as quick as you guys!

      • +1

Please check DM and ebay return policy email. Just got my item today and the power supply fan is damaged!

  • This isn't mine, but someone in Perth should buy it if needed asap as it'll $hit all over this 9010 :)

Throw in a GT1030 and you'll have a lower-end gaming system and and excellent media/productivity PC.

    https://www.gumtree.com.au/s-ad/henley-brook/desktops/dell-7…

    • GT1030 is a pointless card, get a 1050 minimum or if you don't need that much performance buy an older generation card.

      • GT1030 will do hardware h265 decoding, so not pointless for media application.

      • You won't be able to physically install anything more than a single slot low-profile card in to these Dell's due to the placement of the PCI-E 16x slot right next to the power supply, so a GT1030 is it. Specifically the:

    • Thanks mate, I missed 4770 deal and found better deal than this in Gumtree. I totally forgot it until I see yours..

  • Hi guys how does these used desktops’ performance compared to the popular lenovo e570 laptop with core i7 (video editing and gaming)?

  • can these cpus be overclocked? I mean do these motherboards support it?

Do you think it will fit a Noctua D15?

    • They are all non-k CPUs so they can't be overclocked, no. Intel stock cooler is sufficient for a CPU running at stock clock speeds, so I wouldn't bother trying to fit the D-15.

    • No, no, and… no.

  • Any chance of the fourth option getting restocked, really want to grab one for my parents.

    • No sorry.

  • -1

    255W PSU

    I lol'ed.

  • hey peeps, is this a bit overkill/underkill if I wanted to get one for a mate who only browses the net with dual monitors?

    • I'd go with the 9020USFF. More than enough power for basic tasks, has two display port connections for the monitors. Small foot print to keep things tidy

      • hey, would the 9020USFF alone handle dual monitors via DVI adapters, at 1920x1200? (sorry noob question)

        • Yep no worries
