i was gonna buuy it but then i saw it was single use only. better if it was a $50 voucher.

      • +10

What you've said doesn't invalidate what oswade said… a $50 voucher is better.

Maybe easy for you, but say you often eat alone often eat with just a partner/friend, spending $100 on a meal is not easy.

        • +7

          @easternculture:

Yea I never said that you're wrong. Just pointing out that you've responded to oswade as if what you've pointed out "solves" his problem or invalidates what he's said.

In addition, fine dining if you have an occasion that calls for it, sure.. but on a day to day basis then you're not going to pick an expensive place. Liven has cheap places too.

          It's called Ozbargain.

          @illumination:

well im sure its only one voucher per account , so it is an occasion lol

        • +12

          @easternculture:

Just accept that a $100 voucher is not as versatile or as good as a $50 voucher.

Besides, it's nothing against you, but you're defending it as if it's your own company and you have a personal agenda.

What oswade says still stands, "better if it was a $50 voucher." and I don't see how you can dispute that.

We do this on Ozbargain all the time anyway don't we? We help each other out by leaving comments like these (and ideally have these sort of details added to the description) so we are aware that things are not as good as they first seemed. It's helpful to have this sort of information!

        • +3

          @easternculture:
$15 won't get you close to a main in any 'fine dining' establishment.

EasternCulture, meet Western Ozbargain reality, ur deal sucks

Planning to go to Sydney next month but single use is no good solo.

      • -2

Flip. How cheap is everyone? Do they have no friends? $100 is a small amount to pay at a good restaurant with four people! Heck, even two people at a really nice one! Totally on ECs side with this. Why complain?

        • +5

It's pathetic to berate people for not spending as much money as you do in restaurants.

It's beyond pathetic to do that on a site like Ozbargain…

If I spent $100 in a restaurant, I wouldn't appreciate it any more than I would if I spent $20 and made something myself. It's therefore a waste of money to me. Is that ok with you?

  • +5

There might be a bargain here. Not sure, OP is doing a terrible job selling it.

  • You should finish doing the maths and tell us the savings

  • +4

It's a good deal - $50 for $125 worth of food. All you need is 3-4 people to make it really worthwhile or just goto a 'high end' restaurant. Also keeping in mind this is the Dominos and HJ vouchers crowd so prone to negs.

  • Is there a list of the restaurants?

  • +1

It's been a while since I've been able to use Liven without going out of my way. It's so hard to coordinate where to eat with friends and our usual places don't intersect with Liven supported restaurants. Sometimes I've been lured by those discount codes and it's ended up to be such a crap restaurant that it negated the discount. I would have purchased this if it wasn't single use.

    • +2

I know that feeling. Luckily a lot of places use it in the city, but at the same time there have been quite a few issues. From them not accepting it, charging more when you use the app, machine doesn't work, etc.

  • +1

Anyone know when the voucher expires?

  • Awesome deal, bought, thank you! Has anyone successfully received the confirmation email yet? I haven't received mine…

    • Same I have not received any email after purchasing last night…

Accidentally clicked ‘pay securely’ twice because the website took time to respond. Charged twice on credit card but so far no email confirmation..!

      • +1

They just sent through the promo code with an apology. Code expiry 29/10/2028

  • +1

Like any food or coffee based app, not for everyone but I agree completely with OP, I have found it excellent value (Melb CBD). This deal if planned and used correctly is very good and Liven has a real charity focus too, you always can choose to give your cashback to charity. I have used since they started with no issues. I even had a restaurant refuse to stack Liven and Ent book which is fair enough. I didn`t proceed with Liven but got a friendly call straight away asking what happened. I think I am just so happy after my Liven lunch today with Sumo salad. I may get this deal if I find a place I can use it first.

  • +1

Good deal, but I never spend anywhere near $100 in one hit with Liven at the places I use it at.

    • +1

Same here, I use for lunch mainly…but with a group etc it could be good..

  • Looks like a good deal for Melbourne but not for Sydney due to the limited number of establishments in the Liven app.

  • bought a few hours ago and still have not gotten it. :^(

    • -1

they may need to process them manually

      • The link says "it should take less than a minute to receive an email" which I assume is the one containing the voucher?

        • Same… I am still waiting to receive my voucher. I’ve received no email, no order number, just a confirmation screen that tells me:

‘thank you for your purchase. Please check your email inbox for your voucher and instructions. Feel free to use the voucher yourself or forward the email to a friend for the ultimate christmas present.‘

        • @nightfever:
They're slow? Would be nice if people update when received!

        • @oldrocker:
same experience here. Any update will be appreciated!

Places I'd recommend… Yes I have personally eaten at all these places.

Barolo (we have never paid full price - also don't order anything seafood)
Europa (but that's a lot of cake/bakery stuff!)
    Kobe Jones!!
    Mama Marija
    Marmara!!
Mason Dixon - weekday lunch only, picnic?
    Massi/Mister Bianco
    Sardi (brunchy)
    Sugo
Three One Two One - burgers and freakshakes
    Ya Souv - Greek
    Yuzu!!

    Nope

    Hungry Nights Indian
    Kaaoli (doesn't accept liven)
    Kokido
    Phancy Cafe
    Sauced
    Swiss Club

    Top Picks

    Kobe Jones - Jap
    Marmara - Turkish
    Yuzu - Jap

I wonder if it's valid for takeaway and how much of it I can freeze…
Recommend spoiling yourself and going for something you would never pay full price for.
eg. You could easily go over $100 for two people for Teppanyaki.

    • +2

      I can recommend:

Yuzu and Truman Cafe (probably the best breakfast I have ever had in Melbourne)

      • Thanks but there's no Truman cafe.

There is TU cafe? Is that it

        • Damn it looks like they have been removed from Liven :(

    • Thank you! I was going to ask for recommendations

  • never use this, would like to know when spend $150 can i pay with ($100 liven cash) and the rest with cash?

    • Not sure about the $100 voucher but you generally pay through the app so any extra I would say you pay via your registered credit card on the app..so no hard cash:)

    • Large majority of payments are through the app which is better. There are a few exceptions where certain restaurants don't have the tablet/app and you'll have to pay them directly via CC/Cash/hugs/lapdance.

      • thanks

  • Liven is not in QLD right?

    • Just looked into it and youre right, only syd and melb. Brisbane may be soon though, liven has expansion funding as of earlier this year

  • Does this come to you as credit in the app, or a voucher code (which renders it unusable with other codes)?

    • +1

I’ve got a feeling this would be a voucher code, as it can only be used once and they can easily set an expiry date to it and not affect the rest of your existing liven cash balance.

I prefer credit, though. I agree with others, it’s hard to spend $100 at one go when you don’t have enough friends 😂

      • You only need one friend if you're going jap! Just realized there's a lack of mexican places…

  • Actually the 15%/25% pay with app special is not a discount but rather a liven credit bonus - at least for most Melbourne restaurants. Not sure if you can use them in a separate bill though.

    • yeah it's a discount off your NEXT purchase. When they first started it used to be an actual discount but they changed it.. possibly good for their cash flow. It's no big deal if you plan on using the app again which I have time and again.

  • bought $500 credits for family special occasion meals counts christmas, x4 birthdays. Perfect

    Thanks!

  • Anyone received their voucher yet?

  • Single use kills it for me. Not sure why they’re promoting single use when you’d think they want to increase repeat usage of the app at multiple venues.

  • +2

Voucher received. Redeem in app within 3 months. Spend within 10 months. So they’ve given plenty of time to use.

  • Received 1, and got others get refund. got treated as wrongly charged.

  • Check your junk mail, mine ended up there.

  • +2

Check your cc statements!! I purchased a couple of vouchers and now I'm seeing an additional random $64 amount on my pending list. I'm going to wait a few days to see if it goes away but just a caution to others.

    • Mine was sorted - Turns out they use the same payment processor as something else I had 'purchased' for $64 which wasn't Liven's fault.

  • I emailed them as bought two but only received one voucher. Was told that you can only buy one voucher per account and the other would be refunded. Would've been nice to have had that clearly stated before wasting my time…

    • Yep agree. Do you think you can create a second account using a different email address? My only concern is that registering account requires you to use a phone number.

      • yes it does… use another phone number (spouse, friend, $2 SIM etc)

  • Do anyone know, can you use more then 1 voucher at a spend?

    • no

  • Has anyone used their app to pay for their bill in Sydney? I have been emailing around (Rabbitholebar and Olivio) all I get back is how many people would I like to book for. They totally disregarded the fact I asked about using the app as a form of payment.

    • +1

I used the app at two sticks etc…

What you do is when you are about to pay and you are at the store, perss the pay now and it will give you a code, tell the operator you are paying via the liven app and your code is XX then they will process it.

  • anyone have issue verify phone.

  • Is the voucher used automatically on next purchase? Because I cant find a way to activate it or anything. Actually, when I go to promo codes it says active. So I assume next time I pay it'll use the code?

    • Yes, next time you pay it will use the voucher, and if your total is over $100 it will be taken from your funding source
