  • Has a pen too, want this but Aussie stock with the updates done first at this coin.

Still has bugs and issues, multiple reports of this:

    • At this coin of $640, you're getting pretty awesome hardware. The same hardware with Windows or os x would be $1000.

      • lol, no, no

      • "Intel Core M3 Processor 6Y30"……. awesome CPU

        • It is awesome for Chrome OS but nothing else…

        • What do you expect in a 1.1kg ultrathin notebook?

You can, of course, buy a 2kg brick with better specs but you seem to conveniently ignore.

        • @matt-ozb: xiaomi. much more expensive, but $1000 is agreeable

  • Having bought a cb a while back, there's no way I'd recommend one

Having bought one a few years ago, i'd never go back to Windows. What I like about ChromeOS is that you just get on with what you need to do, there is no operating maintenance.

    • How long ago?
      Were you using Android apps?

      • samsung one. emmc was crap. battery stopped holding charge after a few months and had constant login problems with google and wifi

Let me guess, you expected it to be similar to Windows/macOS?

Having purchased a Chromebook for myself, my wife, and my parents each - none of us would go back to Windows or Mac. It's amazing.

There are only a few reasons to not switch.

      1. Gaming. If you want to be part of the PCMasterrace it's never going to happen on ChromeOS even with Crossover and Android apps.
      2. Specific software, pretty much if you edit videos. Or you are using something that MSFT requires windows for.

Anyone else will find that the adjustment period is real, but after that, going back to Windows and Mac just feels painful.

Compared to what? Just about every major O/S apart from Linux has privacy issues.

Probably the best Skylake Chromebook. If you want Kaby Lake, only the Pixelbook has it.

    The display is really good.

  • does anyone know if its possible to have two-way dropbox sync on chromebooks?

I know there is a plugin, but id much prefer saving locally and then have it sync.

    • You don't like Google Drive?

I haven't used Dropbox in years, so maybe it's amazing now, but I'm curious as to why Drive isn't an option?

      • I use drive for my own personal files, but i use dropbox as i have shared folders with family and work at the moment :/

        so unfortunately it's a necessity.

I did find an Android app called Dropsync but i can't find any opinions of people who have used it on a Chromebook

I'll try it for you now!

I just tried it on my Chromebook Pixel LS.

It's not optimised for chromebooks, but it still runs and runs very quickly. It didn't seem to use a lot of resources or slow anything down either.

In saying that I would try Foldersync (I just tried it too) - it's optimised for chromebooks etc it seems. It has a much nicer UI for the larger screen.

Anyways - hopefully this helps you out. I would say that ChromeOS works quite well with Dropbox android apps.
