i really hope mine was faulty as it was horrid. there's always mixed opinions when i say this though. i always get people agreeing and disagreeing.
I can only imagine it was faulty. The main scroll wheel is as smooth and free rolling as I can imagine a scroll wheel can be. Of course, you have to make sure you turn off the magnetic 'ratchet' mode.
When I first got it I actually hated the scroll wheel, after a few days of using it my opinion had done a 180, now I think it is the best thing since some French dude put a loaf of bread in a guillotine.
I was really tempted to get one for work due to the extra scroll wheel for excel and other productivity apps but my work laptop won't allow installing the logitech software, which you need to fully benefit from the features of this mouse 😒
You can ask them that it's only a mouse driver. I told the it guy this and he uses one as well. The mx master 3 is a game changer
Unfortunately I've already asked with my current mouse (M720 triathlon, which is still pretty great), and they said no. I also work for nsw govt and they're very antsy about external software due to the constant cyber attacks.
@choosk same i have asked too and answer is straight no.
the solution is to get mouse with onboard memory, so the setting will be stored inside the mouse and no software is required (apart for the initial setup which you can do on your personal laptop)
The side scroll wheel will still work, not being able to install the software doesn't change that.
I have the same restrictive IT at work, but this mouse is still great, and is still worth it IMHO. The front/back buttons, horizontal scroll etc all work. I think it is just the one button that is beneath your thumb that doesn't do anything without the Logitech software.
Horizontal scroll in Excel is a game changer. I'm thinking of getting another one of these so I have one at home when WFH.

MX Master is too big for me, MX Anywhere is too small, Can't they made one for medium size?
M720 Triathlon. I've been using mine since 2019, uses AA batteries and is the sweet spot in terms of size.

Noice. Got one of these and it’s a game changer for spreadys with the horizontal scroll wheel. Works so much better than a tilt scroll wheel.
