  • What are the reliability like of these things given its price?

    • Interested too.

    • THey warn against using cheap chargers for your phone, I know its wireless but I wonder if there is a risk with that as well.

  • Any good for fast charge samsung s8??

    • nah its "for iphone 8 and x" only cause only iOS devices exist in the world that use QI wireless charging apparently

      /S

      • yes! Better ones out there though with higher W

  • Edited

  • unlikely something for apple will be this cheap.

Iphones take different wireless input compared to other phones

They don't. Apple is using the Qi standard (Yay), Any Qi charger will work fine with the iPhone.

They can maximum take 7.5 Watt which is why Belkin made that for iphone only. Iphones are not technically Fast charging devices and samsung S8, etc.

Apple notes on the product pages for both the Mophie and the Belkin charger that fast wireless charging will be enabled via a software update due later this year. As of now, actual charging speeds will be close to the same speeds garnered from the 5W Power Adapter included with the iPhone 8.

Although the latest Qi specification (version 1.2) supports 15W wireless fast charging, the iPhone 8 and iPhone X will only support half of that. This appears to be either a software or hardware limitation, or a combination of both.

Once the “fast charging” update is applied, charging wattage will increase by 50% up to 7.5W, which should provide a subtle, yet noticeable increase in charging speed. We will be sure to test the chargers again once the update goes live, but technically all of them, sans the Anker Wireless Charging Pad, supply enough output to support 7.5W fast charging. The issue, however, may have to do with secure encryption. We’ve heard through unofficial channels that only supported partners (in this case Belkin and Mophie) will support the faster 7.5W charging.

@asa79: Gotta encrypt that power yo. Wouldn't want anyone to know how many hertz I'm getting!

        • @asa79: Oh my.

Not that 10W actually matters for the iPhones right now. They can only charge with 5W max untill iOS 11.2 which will allow them to charge at 7.5W.

  • Anyone used this before?

  • Coming up as $13.89 AUD for me

  • +1

Code only dropped it to AU$13.89. Was going to buy but wont pay the extra $2

  • Code doesn’t get it down to $8.88 anymore?

  • While we are here. What is the best wireless charging pads atm? Will only use it to charge overnight so don't need it to be super fast or anything, just reliable. Don't really want to spend over $20.

  • +1

I find it kinda hard to trust anything this cheap for something I paid $1500 for..

    • It's pointless. The phone can only take up to 5W until the next update making it 7.5W. This charger is a fast charger. You honestly don't need a fast charger for a device not compatible with fast wireless charging

      • It says Output: 5W / 10W. It does not say its 7.5W. There must be switch to switch between 5 and 10w.

        • Therefore only 5W output for iphones

      • I don’t think the speed is the appeal. It’s the wireless charging.

        • I don't think you get it. You can get many other Qi wireless chargers which give out the same speed for cheaper. This speed is ridiculously slow. 10W itself is already so slow to charge a whole device. Speed matters in wireless charging. I think you should get one first

  • Wireless charging is such a gimmick

    • Until it can charge while staying in your pocket, maybe.

  • Code CHARGSJ works for AU$11.85

    • Did you get one? Intrested to find out What the quality is like?

      • Yes I ordered one.

        • Probably get something that will support 7.5w for my iPhone X once Apple release iOS 11.2. I’m not sure this one will.
