Xiaomi Smart Wi-Fi Socket Plug Standard Version USD $7.89 / AUD $10.19 Delivered @ GearBest

11.11GBPeter

EDIT: Hi everyone another 100 units have been added. Go get them!!

Hi everyone,
I have been working on this deal with the Rep for over a week now. This is the Non-Zigbee version of this plug so can operate with the app on your phone and does not need the Home Gateway. My original code was posted previously by another user, but I didn't think the price was good enough before, hence why I didn't post it myself. I got another $2 USD shaved off and is now possibly the cheapest we have seen on OzBargain.

As always it is limited to first 100 (99 now!), 3 times per account, AU, NZ only!

Main Features:
• Original Xiaomi mi smart WiFi socket for daily use
• Mobile phone remote control, you can switch power supply optionally when not at home (Mobile phones must be connected network)
• Overload protection, safe to use
• High temperature resistant, 750 degree high temperature fire resistant material, safe to use
• LED indicator: Hidden lights, with downy light at night, easy to notice
• Timing switch, close some home appliances in long-term standby state, also can make some household appliances intelligent, east to control
• The case is made of 750 degree high temperature flame resistant material, interior is made of 0.6mm high quality carobronze, plug is made of 1.5mm brass, very safe
• Easy to use stand-alone application: Xiaomi smart socket can use phone APP available to implement its action, which not only has a simple interface, but it is also easier to set up
• It is small and light weight, intelligent and safe, you can take it along during your travel
• Suitable for phone, charger, kettle, fan, TV, lamp, cooker, etc.

Edit 31/10 8am: New code 11.11GBPeter (thanks team teri)

      • I haven't actually cracked it open yet, but I believe it can be used as a interface between many of the Xiaomi buttons and sensors, as well as a doorbell and a radio. I'm planning to mostly integreate it into hass.io though.

You should get the Zigbee. The Wifi componant via HASS is not very stable and only allows 1 socket to be integrated. You also need to dump the app from your phone to get the key to integrate. Zigbee is auto detected and works as soon as it is configured using the xiaomi_aqara componant

      • Thanks for the tip! Cheers. Definitely sounds like Zigbee is the go. Gotta go get my head around Hass now haha. Oh boy.

      • Ouch, that's bad news, I've ordered more than one. Well, maybe that's a good place to start helping out with development - making that WiFi component stable…

      • Just received mine and you were wrong on that count. I have 3 Wifi sockets running very smoothly.

  • I have a question. If i have the xiaomi gateway why would i bother getting the Zigbee version if this is one is a lot cheaper? Are there any disadvantages?

    • ZigBee version uses a lot less power on 'standby' and can also record power usage. It is also way easier to integrate into home Assistant as it is auto detected via the gateway component. Wifi requires a lot more work to integrate

      • You are are correct. Getting my V20 to output the database to get the token just wouldnt work. After many hours i tried an old android phone and it worked fine

        • I struggled initially. Turns out the ADB command needed inverted commas on some phones. It should read $ adb backup "-noapk com.xiaomi.smarthome -f backup.ab"

        • @pacsman: Il give it a whirl next time i have to export the database

  • Would this still work if internet is down?

Thinking of plugging the router into this. So whenever the internet drops out and I need to restart, I can just do it over the phone.

    • Wouldn't you need the router to access the plug? If router off you can't turn back on?

  • I just received mine however they are completely useless!! They only accept 3prong plugs :( The plug wont go in if its only the two pronged plug, Its made in a way that you can only plug in the 3 prong plug!! This sucks as most lamps/fans are 2 prong plugs.

Is there any way around this?!

You need to use a toothpick etc to disengage the safety mechanism of the earth as you plug in the power. Obviously you would get the cord in first before you plug the socket into the wall ;) Once you work out how it is done it is easy to replicate

yep a few annoying things about it .

      1. u mentioned.
      2. the spring loaded mechanism doesn't always release properly when trying to plug any 3 prong. You have to angle wiggle the earth pin till it disengages the dam plastic thing most times.
      3. another oversight is the fact that when u plug it into the common wall socket, they did not anticipate there is the power switch above the sockets.. so the dam miplug doesnt sit flush into the socket cos the stooopid body rests on the wall switch. Easy fix would've been to relocate the internal electronic circuitry on the bottom end of the plug!!!

but hey.. for those oversight its cheaper than the wemos.

for another topic. Totally failure the Xiaomi Dafang camera! The majority have problems getting it set up. ie cant view it. A couple of firmware releases upon set up did more bad to it. Mine currently connected to the wifi (stable blue light) but am not able to access it with the app..

You forgot that you need to set the time via the app relative to China time, not local time

      • Just to address 3, they did in fact anticipate this. You're forgetting that

        a) this is a chinese plug
        b) the chinese plug form factor is inverted!

i.e you are attempting to use this upside down from the chinese designer's POV.

Since in china you'd be plugging it in the other way around it would not impact the switch above it..

I scratched my head about this for a while too before working it out.

A simple fix is to use a double adapter to recess the device just out enough from the switch - or use a power board.

I'd say there would be a market for a 3d printed (or mass produced) device that was a 'pass through' just to bring this out enough from the wall where it doesn't sit flush, or alternately to invert the device orientation..

  • Also anyone got a good setup tutorial? I cant connect to mine in my Mi Home app :/

    • You need to use the mainland china server

      • Yeah tried that but still no dice. Shows up, but cant set it up as it times out. I have a bunch more stuff coming in the coming weeks including a gateway so might just wait and set everything up at once instead.

    • I'm also having the same issue.
Just received my order y'day and tried to set it up with no luck!!
I'm already using Xiaomi app with other products (Xiaomi Mi Robot Vacuum, Yeelight & WiFi Repeater/Amplifier)
I was able to pair them successfully in the past but couldn't do it with this smart plug. It's not even available in list of products.
      Any insights please!!??

      • Try a efferent device? I know it sounds silly but have heard of it working

  • Ok. Stupid wuestion. I bought it. But the app says I need a gateway? The other plug (broadlink) didn't need one?
Do I for this or do I have wrong app

    • Double check you were sent the correct version on the box. It should not be the zigbee version. You may also be selecting the incorrect type on the app
