    Sizzler still exists? :-/

    • +6

Came here to say the same thing. I made my local go dry by taking advantage of the unlimited soft serve which was identical to Maccas.

      • +2

soft serve not available at breakfast

    • Non-perishable

  • There's at least one left in Sydney as i drive past one recently somewhere near Rockdale.
I recall hearing that there was two franchisee's in Australia - one went broke, the other has survived but much smaller. Perhaps someone can confirm?

    • +2

There are 4 in WA, 1 in NSW & 9 in QLD.

    • +2

Theres one left in NSW and thats in Campbelltown http://www.sizzler.com.au/restaurants

      • Oh what? That means the Kogarah one has closed??

        • +2

I just found this news article: http://www.theleader.com.au/story/4566486/its-official-sizzl…
It looks like it only closed in April, which would explain why it's still got all the signage on and looks like it's still operating from the outside.
No doubt a developer will buy it and put apartments on the site.

        • +1

          @newdad:

It wasn't at Rockdale - it was at Carlton/Kogarah @ St George Leagues Club.

It closed several months ago, and the signage has been off since the closure.

As for 'developers' = nope - it's a carpark in the club - so it wont become apartments, unlike the rest of the Kogarah ghetto.

  • They are still quite popular in queensland.

    • +5

You know what they say… Queensland is a few years behind

      • You got negged for quoting single digit. ;)

      • Agree, went to gold coast early this year and found the buildings are rather outdated if compared with nsw and vic

Their kids pricing is just plain stupid.

  • +9

Didnt your parents make you bend ur knees a little at the counter and tell them you're 5 when your're really 9? Mine did lol

    • +2

Nah I was sitting on the floor by the time we got to the front of the queue. Too tired just for a freaking meal.

    Loved Sizzler as a kid

Used to be naughty and use the cups only for tap water and fill them with lemonade which has an appearance similar to that of water.. got away with it every time!

Heres a love letter to Sizzler from the SBS

  • Although I'm sure it comes as no revelation to anyone, the quality is pretty bad. However, $19.95 for 2 people all-you-can-eat breakfast is hard to pass on…

  • +3

Dammit :( Pregnant for at least the next 37 days and can't eat there :(

Goodluck with the delivery, hope it all goes well.

  • I guess it will be very crowded. :(

  • +2

I miss their bread that they'd give you when you'd first sit at your table. I remember waiting in line to get a table because the place was packed. I remember someone leaving a big tip at the table when they left and thinking anyone could easily take it. This is were I learned what minestrone soup was and always had to have it before anything else with croutons, of course.

Now Sizzlers is a Hungary Jacks

    • Now Sizzlers is a Hungary Jacks

I wouldn't go that far. Sizzler is a thousand times better.

      • +3

I think they meant that their local sizzlers closed down and literally is now a hungry jacks store

    • +4

      Hungary Jacks

      I should czech them out.

    • -1

You can take that to Tamworth because it sounds like a line from the chorus of a country and western song.

      "Baby's been and gone,
I miss the days we were together,
Loved her though she gave me salmonella,
Now Sizzlers is a Hungary Jacks"

  • Bring Sizzler back to Melbourne!! And Denny's too.

    • +1

There was a Denny's in Melbourne??!?? Wow I love that place in the US. Didn't know they tried entering the Aus market.

      • +1

Yes, it was on Albert Park Lake back in the 1980s. Used to go there as a kid with the family. They even had photos of the meals on the menu just like the US restaurant. I don't know if there were any other locations aside from that one. Of course, since trademarks aren't international, it's possible that someone here just opened a restaurant with the same name as the US one and copied their style.

I thought sizzler was food served on a hot plate that has been fitted into wood. Normally ordered at Asian restaurants.

  • I haven't heard good things about the sizzlers still running in Australia, but I have heard the ones in south east asia are really good.

Such a shame that they neglect the stores here.

  • Can I use one for next time?

  • +1

Great post OP. I will be going back to Sizzlers for the first time in a decade.

  • +1

Thanks OP! Taking the family there this Sunday! Cheers!

  • Mermaid beach Qld. Yewwww! Yummy!

  • +2

Thanks OP. We had breakfast at the Riverton, WA restaurant this morning and it was very busy. Got there at 8:00 am and had to queue for about ten minutes. There was a continuous line out the door and if we had got there any later I'm sure we would have been waiting much longer. The breakfast was pretty good and excellent value for $10 each. Get there early!

    • +1

Same! We must've been there at the same time!
      OZBARGAIN MEET

  • Memories of the pan bread are still strong!!

  • The kids pricing is a little silly, I'm sure most 16-17 year old boys could out-eat any adult

  • +1

    Great experience today.

  • Not really. Thought there would be queues at 8pm but no. Left at 8.15 and it was half full.

  • +1

    Deal over? Link is a 404 error…

    • No wonder every other Sizzler in NSW has now closed down, if this is the sort of dodgy crap they pull on their customers..

It was supposed to be valid for another for 3 weeks !!

  • This deal has been erased from existence on their website..

Dammit I was gonna go tomorrow, but I'm not driving all the way down there for them to say they have no idea about the deal

    BS !!

  • +1

Went to Sizzler Logan this morning and apparently they have taken down all in store promotion about this 2 for 1 breakfast. But upon showing the screenshot of this deal, the cashier staff honoured it with no problem at all. Thanks OP!

  • Tried to ring to see if deal still valid. You can’t speak directly to customer service at their restaurants, it seems. They say they check their message bank twice a day. Left a message, unsurprisingly no response. Lousy service.

  • Offer is still valid guys and girls :) link still works and just saw a sponsored Facebook post promoting it
