Comes extremely close to previous best deals taking the new 3% cash back on cash rewards into account now.

Very good deal for someone who wants a good quality coffee machine.

    • 3% isn't off the ebay site as well though right?

      • My mistake. eBay is just the standard 1.5% cashback.

Im going to have to look up what cash rewards is all about. I see it mentioned on a lot of deals but I have NFI what it is.

      • You buy something from an approved store. Instead of going to the website directly you click on a link to their website going via the cash rewards website. Cash Rewards get a kcikback from the store as an incentive because they "increased business to your store" and of that kickback the customer gets a small portion as well (0.5-3% usually). You get access to the cash back refund after 3 months.

I purchased my BES920 for $699 from HN and the grinder for $169.

This is not the best price, it's OK, but can be beat especially with Chrissy around the corner.

3% I believe is direct with GG.

      • Wow that's awesome! I thought the best was $798 + $169.

I might hang out until Christmas time and see if I can pick one up for that.

Was one of the best bargains this site has given me!

For what it's worth, it is a great machine and well worth the money. I'm a coffee snob and can say it produces as good coffee as any cafe.

        • @tightm8: is it reliable? As per my bottom post I really cant decide between the much cheaper but raved about em7000 and this breville.. please help ^_^

        • @ninjataki: mines been faultless although the descaling process is a bit clunky, and i cant get the reminder message to clear, but it works perfect and its well thought out in terms of design

i wish the red or black one went on sale though

        • @ninjataki:

Get this, you won't look back mate, best purchase in my kitchen so far.

      • Same here but still if your after a great combination for near a grand, this is a great option.

Get extended warranty with this machine. My four year old machine has been in for repair twice, and need to go in again.

    • thats crap. Others having issues?

      My em6910, 1 repair since 2010.

    • I usually don't like to get these extended warranties but I got the 5 year extended plan for this after reading few forums.

      • Yes it's not just electronics, lots of mechanical issues that can arise which the shop can claim is normal wear and tear. Much easier with extended warranty.

        • Absolutely. There are elements that gets pretty damn hot, it generates some good pressure inside the boilers and there are many valves/pumps that are more prone to wear. Also 1 year warranty for this machine is a joke though you can get up to 2 years from the manufacturer according to ACCC.

    • That's disappointing.

I do know breville's quality control on these is very hit and miss.

I've got a BES860 - Came out of the box from Myer with a US power plug (WTF?). Returned it and got one with an AU plug. Been perfect ever since and have had 0 issues with the machine after 7 years of use making about 10-15 coffees a week.

My brother got a BES860 as well about 2 months later. The diameter tolerance (rim thickness) on his group handle is too thick and it's very hard to get any filter baskets out once they're in without pliers. Ended up recommending he file it down as he didn't want to return it. His machine carked it after about 18 months and he had to get it fixed. Espresso was OK but the machine wouldn't generate sufficient pressure/heat for the steam wand. Working fine now after 7 years but I think he only uses it a few times a week.

Mother in Law got a BES870 - straight out of the box machine had poor pressure and couldn't get a decent shot of espresso out of it. Pressure dial also wasn't functioning properly. Ended up returning it and getting a replacement one. New model has been fine for past 4 years.

Visited Good guys last weekend, said they were "able" to order the 920 as a single now from Breville (not in the duo pack). Expecting to see them available from Mid November in selected stores I was told.

Price for the single unit was $990, so this deal is good in relation.

Still sweating on $800 deal before i pull the trigger, making do with an older machine at the minute but not far away from having to buy no matter what the price.

If the above was in the Black colour I may have been swayed - nah I'll wait for a better deal.

  • Or you could get one of these:
    https://www.jetblackespresso.com.au/shop/p/Lelit-pl042EM/

Has consistently delivered brilliant espresso and is bullet-proof.
I am not related to the vendor, just love the product

    • While I don't exactly disagree, I think they kind of have different target audiences. The Breville is more generally aimed at someone who will predominantly be making milk-based coffees, and for that use it does a pretty good job, relatively easily. If it was primarily for black coffees then the Lelit would be a no-brainer - much higher quality machine, you'd get many more years out of it. The Lelit does take just a little more 'work' to get the most out of it too.

      • I only have milk coffees with my Lelit

    • omg had no idea lelit made a 2 in 1

i have a bes870, but looking for an upgrade

is the lelit fast in terms of switching from espresso to steam wand?
is the built in grinder any good?

Nothing has beaten the 920 i got for my mum since its a dual boiler

my bes870 jams when i use small beans

  • How does the BEP920BSS stack up against the Sunbeam EM7000, especially in the reliability stakes? I can't decide between the two and this one is a lot more costly thats for sure.. is it justified??

    • Yes. The pressure of the shot is managed well with the 920. Boiler machines are a step up from thermal block units though don't get me wrong, the 7000 will not disappoint either.

      • Okay im sold. Will hold out for a $900 total.

        • or bargain in store and buy a even better grinder elsewhere

        • @TALLBALLER: Almost killed the poor grinder this morning with a very light small bean this morning. Though better than Sunbeam in grind quality, the motor is not as powerful. The 480 could grind diamonds :-)

    • DUAL BOILER VS DUAL THERMO BLOCK
BOILER IS GENERALLY BETTER THE THERMO BLOCk
both dual machines so can steam and brew from seperate heat sources
920 is a home appliance of a 2-4x more expensive machine
