And if so, would this be everything needed, no other equipment necessary ?

  it's only a router, so you would still need a VDSL modem.

  Don't know about best (best value maybe?) but I have been using a TP-Link VR600 VDSL Modem router for some time and it is excellent. I would wait until they go on sale though they are pretty expensive at >$160. TP-Link often have bonus offers (smart bulbs, wifi extenders, etc) could be worth waiting for that as well.

Beware this router has an unpatched critical security vulnerability. If you want to run a guest network, think about getting something else.
I was considering buying this last week but decided against it given half a year later, Linksys have patched later models but not this one.
