    $249 from Microsoft
    $13 from unknown source
    $0 from torrent websites

    Anyone confused?

  • +7

Odd. Your previous $9.99 US deal is cheaper anyway compared to US$10.98 why would you post this?

    • +1

Both companies the same? Then this counts as a random dupe
(coz I'm betting they're owned by similar people)

    • There is no payment fee at g2deal.

      • so bought one but the cd key does not work…

  • -2

INB4 all the usual comments we see when this sort of thing gets posted…

  • $3 from ebay

  • +4

more expensive than deal posted and still current https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/328106

  • Serious question that i am trying to figure out. How can this possibly be this cheap? is it legit? do they expire? are they stolen?

    • they are CD keys from faulty motherboards which can be attached to only 1 more motherboard and not transferrable (limitation)
and the second part is that the faulty motherboard is probably from a 3rd world country making the price point even lower
microsoft has not region locked windows 10

      • Or perhaps originate in a similar way to the iTunes card scam.

        • +1

Or they are selling volume keys.

        • @PainToad:
          Or MSDN keys

Now that I think of it, if you sold each key for just $20 you could make a lot of money. What is it, five keys for each software title?

      • That is incorrect. OEM (a windows license key issued with hardware) cannot be transferred from the original hardware. Taken from Microsoft:

OEM versions of Windows are identical to Full License Retail versions except for the following:
        - OEM versions do not offer any free Microsoft direct support from Microsoft support personnel
        - OEM licenses are tied to the very first computer you install and activate it on
        - OEM versions allow all hardware upgrades except for an upgrade to a different model motherboard
        - OEM versions cannot be used to directly upgrade from an older Windows operating system
What happens if I change my motherboard?
As it pertains to the OEM licenses this will invalidate the Windows 10 upgrade license because it will no longer have a previous base qualifying license which is required for the free upgrade. You will then have to purchase a full retail Windows 10 license. If the base qualifying license (Windows 7 or Windows 8.1) was a full retail version, then yes, you can transfer it.

Taken from their website or old knowledgebase answers?

          https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/Useterms/OEM/Windows/10/UseT…

I bought a key from ebay a year ago. Activated without problems.
Upgraded PC "My PC died and was repaired".
Couldn't manually activate so rang for activation and they didn't even ask.

        • jess, lol go do your research before down-voting people

        • @RainbowHands:
Rainbow, I have a licensing background with Microsoft. Just because it activates doesn't make it legal. A lot of licensing is based on an honesty system. Good luck if you ever get audited.

        • @jesse085: well i never said it was ethical in the first place. let us be - you don't need to be so judgemental and righteous! zzz

    • Oem keys are cheap and Microsoft wants everybody on win 10…..hence free upgrades fron 7 and 8.

Notice no cheap office 365 …..that is their target state subscriptions you pay them anually.

All this other stuff is enabler ….eg office 2016 has a deprecation date …..

      • I'm building a PC and have a free Win 8 key, will I be able to upgrade to Windows 10 for free?

  • +4

Bought a Windows 10 key from G2Deal a month ago at a similar price, it wouldn't activate. Had to escalate for a refund.

  • And the thing is win 10 works just fine not activated. So if you can live with the water mark on the desktop save your 10 dollars.

  • +3

$4 on eBay and you can use PayPal

Nothing about this is a deal

Windows should be free. Pretty much everything is SaaS these days anyway, the OS is merely the delivery mechanism. Its in microsofts best interests to get everyone onto 10 from a support perspective.

    • +2

Hence why they are still giving away free upgrades. Just click the button claiming to be using accessibility tools and then bam, free Windows 10.

      • +2

        shhhh they'll hear you :)

        • They know, it's no mistake.
They are happy giving it away for personal use really, they just don't want $0 to impact their corporate market which is still worth huge money.

I expect next generation will move to a free base version which sells monthly subscription for increased features.

Shame on the mods for not shutting these posts down. These are all dodgy keys. Anything anywhere near these prices are dodgy.

I'd save your money and download a torrent because it's just as dodgy. People seem to sleep easier at night though knowing they paid something for he dodgy software.

    • -1

Yup, I fully agree with everything you have said and I work in the industry!

      • You work in the OEM and Technet Subscriber Illegal Key Selling Industry?

        • +1

"OEM and Technet" - yup, deal with them every single day as part of my job.

But thanks for the troll response (as per your other comments on this site)! Grow up, you're not funny! :)

  • i wouldnt recommend buying these keys, like others have said, most likely from faulty motherboards or enterprise keys.

IF you must buy these sort of keys from 3rd party sites, buy windows 8.1 and immediately upgrade free to windows 10 then you have a legit win 10 key.

    • +1

No that is specifically covered in the agreement. If that first version is dodgy then the W10 upgrade is dodgy.

      • damn i did not know that.

  • Dunno about shame on the mods, the comments are quite educational on ozbargin, you do need to have a bit of common sense.
I guess for repeat offenders and obvious scams could be an idea to shame the posters with a badge like there is for associated that says sometjing appropriate…. suggestions welcome i.e. [Suspect] or worse😀

    • Id want that badge so hard…
