    Woah this is tempting

    • +3

Buy and take advantage of Coles android pay offer. That should make it $19 cheaper;)

      • It's more like $229 + $20 as it's more of a bonus than a discount.

  • +39

Damn bought this 14 months ago for $309.
    Should have waited :(

    • +2

      LOL!

    • Claim purchase protection?

    • I bought mine 13 months ago (via Kogan) and it just died last week. Really liked the Nexus but I have the S8 now.

  • +12

    Bootloops

    • -1

There are fixes for this now on XDA.

      • +6

< 1 day battery life when idle since 7.1 update.

      • What is the fix? I have tried many things with no avail.

      • +2

        You sure about that?

I thought it was a hardware issue.

Even LG have given me brand new phones when I've gone for warranty.

I'd only buy this if the warenty were easy to deal with.

It'd be a great phone if not for the bootloops. Brilliant camera. Battery is very average but at least it's quick to charge.

        • vaguely remember reading that it disables part of the chip which causes the bootloop

      • Doesn't get the phone back to original working condition

      • +4

I tried the fix. Disable big cores. Worked temporarily then started freezing again. Will not purchase another LG phone again!

    • Much like the inevitability of death, bootloop is just a lottery.

      • +1

I wish the real lottery had the same odds as my Nexus 5x's did. First one died at almost exactly one year, then the replacement one died six months after I got it. I won't be buying LG again anytime soon.

    • +1

Yeah. Fantastic phone when it's working. But I got the bootloops too…

  • Would rather Redmi Note4Global for same price.

    • +5

does redmi have band 28 …… does this one have band 28?

  • +5

These are great phones for the 9-12 or so months until they inevitably die. (search for Nexus 5x bootloop)

    • +1

      Would still buy again.

  • +12

I bought my Nexus 5x from JB Hifi for $525 dollars, bootlooped after the 20th month of ownership but thankfully, JB Hifi sent the phone to LG for repairs and got the motherboard replaced. I was left for 2 weeks without a phone (bought a Galaxy S7 in the interim)

this phone is on the way out now, so if you need replacements down the road there might not be any more spare parts for refurbishment.

Snapdragon 808 is not very efficient, runs a little warm and it sucks battery down like a thirsty camel. Battery life not great compared to S7 and also loses to the moto g4 plus.

If you have only 300 dollars to spend, there are still very good phones you can buy in the midrange category.
The more recent Snapdragon 600 series found in mid end devices such as Redmi Note 4's and Motorola G5+ are much less power hungry and give you much better runtimes. And if you want SD820 flagship performance there's also Xiaomi Mi5 to consider.

    • +2

I bought mine from JB as well, but insisted on a refund when it boot looped - Not of merchantable quality. Replaced it with another 5X from officeworks, but backing up regularly.

These are the cheapest anywhere from Shopmonk by about $30 from my looking around. A steal if it is real?
Xiaomi Redmi Note 4X (Grey, 16 GB, RAM 3 GB $135au delivered.
    https://shopmonk.com.au/xiaomi-redmi-note-4x-grey-16-gb

    • +1

Looks legit that is a steal mate. Probably this low because Redmi Note 5 is just around the corner (Redmi 5A announced the other week so can't be too far away)

      • +2

The Note 5A that was released only a couple of weeks ago has a smaller battery and processor.
It will be interesting to see what the additional versions of the 5 contain? Will Xiaomi go for lower specs to get a cheaper unit in the market with the Note 5 series? Time will tell.

    • Will this work ok with optus network?

      • I ordered one identical from another seller a couple of days ago so i hope so. All i have read say they are fine. Only mising band 20 & 28 which is not necessary they say.

    • +2

amazing deal to get 3gb ram SD 625 phone for only 135 delievered i just bought one. You should post this as a deal man, it will get at least 50 upvotes

      • +1

Ya beat me to it ya dog LOL

        • +1

yeha lol. I think that deal is much better than this TBH. THis device only has 2gb ram and it bootloops and this one has massive bezels for a 5.2 inch device

        • +1

          @nathan-drake:
Bang for the $ the Note 4x Xiaomi is the go, have to spend a lot more to get better.
The only common drawback I have seen is that the screen is cracks easy but that is the case with all 5.5" phone screens. They are not made to bounce or sit on :-). I would not use one without a flip cover anyway.

I feel like it is a bit late to buy a 2 year old phone, particularly given the bootloops.

My family has two and I do worry quite a bit about bootlooping.

    • Yep my wife's just bootlooped while travelling. Very inconvenient to say the least.

  • I have had this phone for almost 2 years. I have never had boot loop issues.

It's an ok phone. I would not pay more than $200 for it these days tho.

    • Yeah I'm using my nexus5x that I bought from JB over 12 months ago and thank goodness no bootloop. I have been looking for an upgrade, but it's still ok.

I think it should receive Android Oreo soon.

      • +3

You can get Oreo instantly by enrolling in the beta.

Right after installing, you can then unenroll from the beta and you will be on the public release without having to do anything further.

  • You can get a moto G5 plus with an SD slot for this kind of money. Its much better build quality and has better battery. My wife recently bought one after bootloop refund from Officeworks.

Disadvantages of g5 plus would be system software. Pretty sure it's still on 7.0.

If your desperate for a phone and can live with 16gb storage, maybe ok?

  • I've found it to be a great phone, but I'd be concerned about the bootloop issue. It happened to me once I was just past the one year warranty, so while JB wasn't willing to help I was able to get it fixed by LG, but I wouldn't purchase it nowadays.

    • What was the process? How did you get hold of LG etc? Thanks in advance.

      • I think it's like getting John Rambo to take a group of pilgrims up river, 1st attempt day one they are all "get lost", second time they are like you "got an IMEI, no wait get lost." And third day you get your wife to call they just cave in and say "send it in to this address".

Don't buy Nexus 5X, it has a known hardware fault and may die suddenly and never power on again.

Mine is dead, my colleague's died as well. I know at least another 3 people had the same issue. Don't waste your time and money.

    • +4

      Still upvotes the deal. Logic

    • This almost sounds as bad as the Xbox 360 red ring of death failure. The 360 had an astonishing 54% failure rate!

  • Friends who have had the Nexus 5, then the Nexus 5X say it's a better version of the 5, but the battery life is just as bad. Camera is much, much better though, as it's the same camera in the 6P. Still, if you need to upgrade, it's not a bad option for this price.

  • +2

I think the bootloops risk is a bit high. If you like stock Android, I'd recommend one of the new Nokias.

  • Hi Guys
How long does the delivery take ? Wanna buy an iPhone but need it in two weeks

    • +1

      2-3 working days

  • Battery life is pretty ordinary the 808 / 810 chipsets were duds. I brought one only a few months back and regret it. Sure you get the latest software, but its just to slow and battery life is munted. If you turn just about everything off, you may get 4 OST, but that is like pushing it to the max. Where as the LG6 I got can get 6 hours without breaking a sweat.

  • Pretty much a dud model phone AFAIK, almost the same as the original nexus 5 (which was $350 at launch) except it dies easily due to bootloops/battery swelling etc.

Having recently upgraded from a Nexus 5 to a G6 I'd say the difference is worth the $200 extra investment easily.

  • I got the Nexus 5X last year. It's a huge improvement on the Nexus 4, which sets quite a low bar. The Nexus 5x is a mediocre phone, sluggish camera and appaling battery life. I'd say there are better phones out there right now. Also, LG quality both in Nexus 4 and 5x is not something to call home about. Lags and overheating in Nexus 5x and random switching off in Nexus 4. I think I'll try another brand next time, I'm fed up with LG.

  • I've had mine since launch day and no bootloop. Wife is the same except hers is an import.
Must be good luck or something.

    • I think the bootloops are exaggerated. I've had mine for nearly 2 years and no issue. Got Oreo running on it too.

  • +1

Both my wife and I have the 5x. We both had boot loop but both had it fixed in about 20 minutes no questions asked at their repair centre in lidcombe. No issue now.

  • Had mine almost two years and no Bootloop here (touch wood). YMMV.

  • Mine bootlooped and died… 13 months from purchase.

Loved the phone, but since it was purchased as an import, LG weren't willing to help despite being Australian stock.

Wouldn't recommend it as LG stopped making parts for it ages ago.

  • +1

    Mine started bootlooping yesterday :(
LG Australia won't help because I have a UAE model.
