Not too foul a price for a 10.1" FHD tablet with some limited mobile connectivity. Aluminium alloy body and stereo speakers make for a nice cheap travel media/game unit for the kids or one you wouldn't weep too much about if someone sits on it at work.

Been eyeing this for while but the mixed reviews held back. Pray hard that you dont get a lemon

I don't think a lemon will get through customs. They usually check for fruit.

  • What is the Mali-720 chipset like?

    • I'd consider it more a media unit that a games one, but it'll run medium level games OK. The main advantage of the CPU/GPU combo is it uses a lot less power and generates less heat than the Snapdragon equivalent - 615, which is claimed to throttle down a lot more in use.

      • Reckon this thing would play games better than a Nexus 10?

  • Is there a code or something? Price for me is $149USD

  • A$188 for me

  • Showing AUD$188 for me. Is there a code?

    • Not sure what's going on with GB - I'm now getting a rate of A$130.22 for the same US.99.99 price :-/ Maybe try a browser chache clearance??

  • Bought a cheap tablet long ago. At this stage, name brand tablets are cheap enough to be the superior choice. Mine quickly lost the ability to hold charge

Maybe OP has linked to the wrong site, OP might be referring to this deal https://www.geekbuying.com/item/Teclast-98-Tablet-378850.htm…

      Updated. Cheers

      • That site is still showing the US$99 price, just offering a different page without the spec list that I copied, and giving a different rate when clicked onto A$.
I just checked, and the page i linked is showing as an email only page - which it wasn't when first checked - but the price is still given as US$99.99.
        Inscrutable.

  • I have some china tabs from Teclast and Chuwi and one thing I have a complaint with is that the speaker audio even at max volume is very soft and crappy sounding, unlike with an iPad. Audio through headphones is also bad.

Wondering if it's the same here.

    • I know with my Chuwi tablet I had to use an app to boost the volume to normal levels - which made it perfectly OK. This was only on the Win 10 of things - on Android the volume was fine.

      • My Teclast in Android mode at max volume is still too soft. In a public place you can't hear anything.

Just received mine a week ago, two things I don't like about this tablet are, 1 plastic build all around with a metal back plate, 2 screen gap between touch panel and LCD. But for this price, I would recommend this. And FYI Google play come pre-installed even after a factory reset.

    • That is because Google Play is on all Android devices?

      • Not necessarily on ones from China, as it has been and may still be blocked there. The main search engine is Baidu who also have their own app store more acceptable to the heavenly approved revolutionary Peoples' heroes who care for the welfare and purity of the revolution.

      • Not all Android devices have Google Play. I have a 10-inch Pendo Pad, bought from Coles here in Australia about two years ago. Does not have Google Play, has a third-party app store "1Mobile Market" that fortunately I was able to disable. Have to side-load apps from other devices that do have Google Play.

    • but how is the sound? is it pretty loud on normal and full blast?

  • Got my kid a different Teclast. Good for the price.
But with limited battery life, modest display quality and flimsy feel, I would not recommend it for travel.
And kids have good eyes, so don't care about 10" screens.
So I see this as more of a home tablet, where you won't cry too much if you sit or walk on it after the kids leave it lying around.

  • OP: Do you a) take your tablet to work often and b) have people sit on them regularly?

    • A:) Yes
B:) It's been a near thing many times, especially when doing stock rotation in a food room…

  • would you recommend this or the following
    anyone have this
    https://www.banggood.com/Onda-V10-32GB-MTK6753-Octa-Core-10_…

    • Yours is better. Yours has AC wifi, and Android 7.0.

Other differences I can see at a glance: It has band 41, slightly bigger battery (300mAh).

  • Is this the new or the old version
