is it an i5 or an i7?

    • I actually don't know but I've messaged the rep.

    • i5, we use the same model at work :)

      • Should be i7.. i5 models here http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/201689344613

Oh nice then, I figured was a typo - we have lots of 8300's at work but they're all i5's (mostly 3470 / 3570's from memory). Happy to be wrong in this case!!

Edit - just saw your link, yep those are more like the ones we have (and still use!)

        • @webbiegareth: I'm guessing that your workplace is probably going to upgrade to the Hp 800 g2 soon. My it department is already massively discarding Hp 8300 and Dell 9010's.

        • @webbiegareth: there is no i5 3770.

        • @Slippery Fish:

Yes I know, I incorrectly assumed it was a typo and was meant to be 3470 or 3570, not 3770 :)

I have a i5 3570 elite 8300 on my desk at work, it's a very reliable machine (just not very upgradable due to the low power PSU)

Description says i5 :P Thats why i was curious

      • +1

Yup, pretty sure an Intel core i5 3770 isn't even a thing

  • +1

Stick an rx 450/460 in it and you got a budget gaming pc.

    • +1

Low profile? Would you need to upgrade the psu? Very interested in this concept.

      • +1

Not sure you can upgrade the PSU. We have these at work and they have a sort of low profile PSU.

        Edit: Like this

    • Good luck finding one at a decent price.

  • just updated that part these are i7 as per the item title.

    • Are the ram slots all occupied by the 8GB and is the price gst inclusive?

      • Hi. Sorry ram configuration can be mixed. Yes this is gst inc. tax invoice included as well

  • Warranty info?

    • 3 months only. Best to do all the necessary testing, has the right components and maybe clean the heat sink, cpu fan and reapply thermal paste for max perfomance.

  • Does the motherboard support SSD?
also which are the reasonable low profile GPU compatible with this machine?
    Thanks

  • It would be great if a video card can be added. Will something like a low profile Gtx 1050 Ti be too much for the power supply to handle? Thanks

    • these low profile machines were designed for offices not gaming so power supplies are usually small to keep physical space down ( cost of floor space in office ) and green house foot print to cut down on energy consumption.

great if you want to load office and run some stuff but not designed to be upgraded to gaming rigs.

the imac is interesting at that price with discount but by the time you get an apple keyboard and mouse the price creeps up to other used offerings .

    • Yes.

    • Should be ok. Otherwise 1050/1030

      • I was thinking Gtx1030 with only 30 w power consumption should be ok, just wondering if anyone has idea about a slightly more powerful card. After some digging around, HP Elite 8300 most likely got 240w power supply

Anyone who can share some insight would be greatly appreciated.

        • Plugging the build with a 1050 ti into an online psu calculator you get a max system demand of around 250W. 1050 isn't much less.

Might have to get a 1030…

You could pick one up, crack it open and see what PSU it has before you commit to a card.

        • @iforgotmysocks: These have 240w PSU's

        • @Calmago:
          Thanks for the confirmation.

        • @iforgotmysocks:
Didn't realize there is such psu calculator. Thank you for the tip.

  • If you google you'll find there a plenty of people using these with 1050ti's no problem. They then become a very capable little gaming box.

I bought this model in last week's deal. Brilliant machine for virtualisation after adding more ram. Some info if it hadn't already been answered:
    -4 ddr3 dimm slots, only 2 populated.
    -chipset support for 32gb.
    -2 x 5.25 bays and 1 x 3.5.
    -4 sata ports
    -2pcie 8x, 1pcie 1x and 1pci slots (i think… Didn't use any of them).
-about 45w idle power draw with 2 spindles and an ssd running Xenserver.

  • So I have a $300-500 budget. I want to play 1080p low-medium or higer @60fps… I'll probably buy a 1050ti but like what desktop should i buy?
    Please help

    • This machine should work well but the i5 3570 SFF pc last week for $200 would've been a better choice for 1080 gaming as the extra paid for the i7 in this one generally won't be noticeable for games.
If you manage to get a similar pc to the $200 i5 from last week. A 1050ti and an ssd and you'd be set imo.
