Handy for overseas visitors. I think you can unlock the phone for free once recharged over $80 but need confirmation.

If that's the case it's ok. Otherwise this phone is already $29 and comes with $50 call credit and 1GB data. I bought one from dick smith couple of weeks ago.
If they give you nokia 1800 virgin pack there is a sim in it. You can also activate it and get its credit and data. Shame you can't transfer them to your own number.

Does anyone know how long can you hold the recharge, without activating it, before it goes stale? :)
Don't know about Virgin, but when I delayed the recharge of my new Optus mobile for a week, they backdated the recharge to the date of activation of the SIM. So it didn't work in that case.
Not to blow my own horn (not even close;) but does anyone have opinions on the quality of this phone versus my earlier post http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/32515 as they both are going for around $30 more or less.
Without looking too closely, I can see the Samsung is better featured; but this isn't $30 for the phone per se; it's a buck when you get $29 worth of call credit! Did your deal come with any included calls? ;)
It appears not, there is a $10 bonus on 1st recharge and a separate $50 bonus deal with prepaid cap recharges thru Coles.
In my case, I plan to use a Just Mobile sim as I wouldn't get thru $30 of credit in a month anyway (not without effort anyway;).

I noticed I could put my Virgin sim in a Optus locked phone.
Went to see if this deal was still on. Sold out of the 1800. So the awesome manager gave me Nokia 2330 for $1 instead! Additional camera, internal memory are the upgrades :D
