Auto-recharge will be turned on by default if you have provided your payment card details to pre-authorise your purchase or if you have stored your payment details and you did not opt-out. You can opt-out at any time via your My Lebara account.

Edit: I spoke to Lebara (1300 126 122) and can confirm you can convert this Lebara physical SIM to eSIM. Activate first, then log into your account or use MyLebara app to convert to eSIM.
Edit: 3rd March. I spoke to Lebara again. Previous agent was mistaken and can only convert to eSIM on the Lebara website but not on the app. Activate the physical SIM first, then log into your account on the website and choose swap to eSIM.
Swapping to eSIM is not possible on MyLebara app. You can buy an eSIM but not swap using the app.

  • Meaning if I am currently with Voda, I have to jump to another provider first ?

    • +3

No. Vodafone to Lebara (& vice versa) seems fine.

If you have Everyday Extra membership, can also get 10% off.

      • Can you pay with WW gift card? I think yes

      • +1

        Cheers

      • Sure about 10% off - excluded are services, fees, including online purchases, any vouchers, Delivery Saver items, bag fee and crate service fee, internet cafes, purchases of liquor, smoking/tobacco products and accessories, newspapers, Woolworths Services, Gift Cards (including iTunes), mobile recharge, Everyday Mobile from Woolworths devices or plans, travel cards and tickets, Carpet Care, lottery products and Everyday Market from Woolworths orders or in conjunction with any other offers.

  • Can activate anytime ? Currently with kogan, not good sometimes I even don't get a signal especially on the train.

    • +3

Activate within 365 days of purchase.

You must activate your Lebara SIM by the specified offer activation date to benefit from advertised offers. In any event, the Lebara SIM must be activated within 365 days of purchase.

      • At the top of the Lebara page it says:

Save on selected Long Expiry Plans
When you activate by 31/03/25. T&C apply.

So is there any detriment if you activate within 365 days, but after 31 March?

        • +2

For this particular SIM from Woolworths, the 31/03/25 date wouldn't apply as there isn't any bonus data offer. You would receive the 2000 EDR points from Woolworths for purchasing and is unrelated to when you activate.
Activate within 365 days of purchase would be the requirement.

    • +3

@coast666 Kogan aand Lebara are both on Vodafone network. Your experience should be exactly the same on them.

      • Oh I see, thanks, so no need to change

  • would lebara (on voda) work with the 3g blockage issue, considering vodafone worked before?

    • What's the 3g blockage issue?

      • Its not the 3G blockage but rather 3G Closure.
Specifically emergency calls. If your phone can not use VOLTE 4G to make emergency calls its imei will be blocked network wide. Very common problem with phone from overseas.

Also if your phone uses 3G to make phone calls it will also be blocked.

Telstra has the hardest block given the fact emergency calls have to use a specific 4G bandwidth. So moving away from Telstra and Telstra MVNO. If your phone does not work on Optus or Vodafone network your kinda in trouble with the 3G closure.

Note 3G closures has already happened.

        • Are overseas phone with BAND28 immune to this block? Would this blocks happen again for new phones or would there be any periodic blocks?

        • Don't you think it's time for a new phone?

    • @ozbozb yes, blocking is done at network level, which is Vodafone.

  • +3

Really want to know why 360 not 365. Are they the only one doing 360 days?

    • -5

I comment about this also in the past & get negged watch out .

  • Do people find if bonus points don't show on screen/receipt at the time of the transaction they don't get the points? Last 2 purchases points didn't appear on the screen/receipt and never showed up even after 15 days. Has anyone ever reported them for this dishonest conduct? We shouldn't have to call CS to get this issue resolved everytime.

    • Hi yes i've found it generally immediately tells you the points you get which is the opposite with Flybuys. If its not showing the points i'd cancel and not go through with the transaction at self checkout

      • The bonus points for SIM cards don't appear to show up on the screen or allocated straightaway unlike buying the gift card offers. Someone got the points within 2 hours in the same Lebara offer in Jan.
The 10% Everyday Extra discount would stack with this offer as confirmed here.

  • +1

    Looks good thanks OP

  • I guess no unlimited international calls to 60 countries ?

    • No

      • Oh dear

  • This or boost?
I guess Telstra network is the best

    • But expensive compared to Lebara ?

  • +3

    International calls
$3 international credit per 30 days using our XS Plan call rates, eg up to 300 mins per 30 days to 5 selected countries
    Canada
    China
    Puerto Rico
    Singapore
    USA

    • +2

      Puerto Rico isn't a country

      • +2

Currently invaded by the US. But in reality it is a country. Might change in the future. Not affiliated at all, just don't like taking freedom away from smaller countries. Maybe Hawaii is not a part of the deal either? Just the mainland.

  • I’m on amaysim, can I port if I buy the above from woolies

    • Yes.

  • Up to 300 mins of standard international talk, resets every 30 days - is this to any country or is there a list of included/excluded countries?

    • should be a list of countries…

    • +1
    • 5 Countries only - so sad 😔

      • I think you didn't understand what they mean ….
eg up to 300 mins per 30 days to 5 selected countries

        • Thanks @trixieb
Small- 5 selected countries Medium- 35 selected countries and more benefits (discounted to $178 expires in 3 days) Large- 50 selected countries and more benefits, but no discounts

  • +1

Just FYI, if you have 10% off of a Woolies shop from either Everyday Extra, Woolies Insurance, etc., you can use it on this purchase. Well, at least I did a month or so ago with the same deal and it worked.

    • +1

Can also pay with WW gift cards.

    • Are you sure? I read this - excludes certain products, services, fees, including online purchases, any vouchers, Delivery Saver items, bag fee and crate service fee, internet cafes, purchases of liquor, smoking/tobacco products and accessories, newspapers, Woolworths Services, Gift Cards (including iTunes), mobile recharge, Everyday Mobile from Woolworths devices or plans, travel cards and tickets, Carpet Care, lottery products and Everyday Market from Woolworths orders or in conjunction with any other offers.

      • I read the same thing, but note that this is a SIM starter pack, not a mobile recharge. There was skepticism, like yours, with the last Lebara-Woolies offer. https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/889693

It worked for me. Someone reported it worked for an Amaysim starter pack.

        • Yes, I commented below about being a starter pack after someone said the service desk sorted it out as didn’t automatically register 10% off the shop.

  • Can we convert this to esim?

my physical sim slot is with BOOST

    • +1

Worse case you can convert boost to esim

    • Looks like it, why don't you ask them and report back? https://www.lebara.com.au/support/esim/ Unfortunately I am interested in doing this for a smartwatch, and they say that's still otw.

    • would like to know this also

        • +1

          Thank you so much 😊

          • +1

@Sortale: I spoke to Lebara (1300 126 122) again after this comment.

            • @trixieb: I bought an eSIM and haven’t hit delivery email or any other notification

  • Anyone know if the 2000 EDR Points is a one off or per Sim Pack? If I buy 2 packs, will I get 4000 EDR Points?

    • +3

2 packs = 4000 EDR points. Based on past comment, it has been 2000 points for each SIM up to a limit of 3 SIMs per Everyday Rewards member.

  • Does anyone know if I can use this to recharge my plan?

    • Starter pack is not for recharge. You need to port out first (e.g. use $2 Telstra SIM card) and then port back in with this 360-Day SIM card.

      • Thank you for clarifying

        • +1

No as you're not an existing Lebara customer. You would port out of Catch and port in to Lebara and keep your number.

          • +1

            @trixieb: thanks for teh explanation!

      • If we first port out and then go back to Lebara, can I use the same email/account or do I need a new email as well?

  • +2

NGL we need a similar Telstra MVNO deal man

    like under $120

for no more than 60GB data
Unlimited calls and txt in AU
    and 1 year validity

    • this - have we ever seen anything like this?

  • What would be the expiry date before which the sim needs to be activated?

    • Answered here.

      • +1

        Sorry overlooked it. Thank you

  • I purchased 3 for the in-laws. $119 each - was lots of stock. Woolworths - Golden Grove SA.

  • My 10% off from insurance would not come up when trying to pay so had to go to the service desk to have them apply the discount. Also paid with 4% off gift cards. But 2 hours later no 2000 points yet.

PS the points were instantly converted to Qantas points so I did get them straight away, apologies.

Question, this is 4G, is it noticeably slower than 5G? Worried that internet will be just too slow…

    • Interesting that the service desk did that as seems to exclude mobile sims although I guess it is a starter pack and not a recharge. Did it actually show as WOW 10% off or person added a discount to your purchase, refund to card, etc?

Excluded - certain products, services, fees, including online purchases, any vouchers, Delivery Saver items, bag fee and crate service fee, internet cafes, purchases of liquor, smoking/tobacco products and accessories, newspapers, Woolworths Services, Gift Cards (including iTunes), mobile recharge, Everyday Mobile from Woolworths devices or plans, travel cards and tickets, Carpet Care, lottery products and Everyday Market from Woolworths orders or in conjunction with any other offers.

4G is what you’ve been using the last 10+ years. Has that been too slow for you? 5G has lower latency, which is useful for FaceTime calls and similar, but for streaming audio and videos, you won’t notice a difference as it’s around 20-40 milliseconds. Here is some info on the 4G vs 5G for mobile phone use:

      https://mobile.everyday.com.au/mobile-talk/4g-vs-5g-with-eve…

If you’ve got an oversided phone (e.g. iPhone 16 Plus) or tethering to a tablet or laptop, 5G could give you HD or even 4K streaming. However, you’ll eat up your data quickly doing a lot of it.

In another year or perhaps two, all plans will be 5G I think. Once the network capacity is there from Optus/Telstra/Vodafone, they’ll include it in the MVNOs plans. The difference between 4G and 5G isn’t as significant as the jump from 3G to 4G (from a user experience perspective).

  • OMG! I followed the instructions on the pack to install the app, which asked if I wanted an e-sim, and when I said yes, it set things in motion which resulted in the app silently billing my CC for $160. 2 phone calls, an hour on live chat, and 2 customer service reps demanding to know "who authorised you to do such action".

The app also billed my ctredit card, without showing a summary of what was about to billed, which I believe contravenes Australian consumer laws.

This was all a result of terrible UX in the app, they could do a lot better.

If this wasn't the cheapest deal around at the moment, I would definitely recommend looking elsewhere.

    • thanks for sharing, how would we get around to avoid this I wonder

      • +2

@EvilDeece Sorry to hear. Hope you got your refund and also turn off auto-recharge. You had mistakenly bought an eSIM instead of swapping to an eSIM. Just found out it is not possible to swap on the app.

@RichDad PoorSon I rang Lebara (1300 126 122) again.

        • +1

bought, transferred existing no and transferred to eSIM. done!

  • Annoyingly my local woolies only has the dollar value Lebara sims not the GB branded cards

    • I bought the $160 Extra Small 360 Day pack thinking it will have 120GB data included. Does it not???

      • i skipped as it looked different despite the same RRP and discount. Let me know if its works….

        • I went to Woolworths to check out the new packaging which only shows the RRP $160 (discounted to $119). You would receive 120GB as per the Lebara website. There isn't any other data offer for the $160 SIM card.

          • @trixieb: Nice! Did the bonus points come through?

            • @Davelovesdealz: What I meant was for this $160 SIM, 120GB is the only data currently as per the Lebara website and Woolworths ad which also mentions 120GB. It's not stated on the new packaging at Woolworths but you would get 120GB.

No issues in this Lebara/WW purchase recently.

I'm with Telstra and not a Lebara customer.

            • +1

@Davelovesdealz: I did buy last week.
              It shows 120GB for $160.
              Got 2000 + 119x10 = 3190 points

  • Has this deal actually expired? I didnt see any signage on the 2000 bonus points in store

    • +1

$119 price is still valid until 11th March as per in-store price tag and Woolworths app. However I'm not sure if the 2000 EDR points are still given. It was advertised in last week's catalogue. There wasn't a signage for the 2000 points in-store last week either. Hence I've expired the deal for now.

I rang both the Woolworths team and Everyday Rewards team but they couldn't find any info on the 2000 EDR points. It doesn't seem to be listed in their system or they don't know where to find the info. I already spent about an hour (57 mins) on the phone including waiting time.

Whenever I've contacted Woolworths about SIM offers in the past, they weren't able to tell me more info apart from what's listed in the catalogue or in the app.

    • You should take your Sim to the self serve counter, swipe your rewards card & you should be able to know as it will show up on the screen.

      • Have you tried? The bonus points for SIM cards don't seem to show up on the screen or allocated straightaway unlike buying the gift card offers.
Someone got the points within 2 hours in the same Lebara offer in Jan.

    • +1

@Davelovesdealz 2000 points still given with the $119 offer. Ends today.

      • boom - thanks for the follow up.

  • +1

Just bought one today and on the receipt shows I got 2120 points so I would suggest the 2000 edr points promo is valid till the end of tonight at least.

    • Thanks. Updated.
