    • Nope I have been trying for few days before posting this deal

      • maybe going through their dell chat and getting a custom listing..

        • +1

I have called them already but they don’t have any stock

        • @Jimmy007: damn that sucks, red looks like crap..

        • +5

@KimTaeyeon: I am regretting missing on my own previous deal.

        • +5

          @Jimmy007:
There's buyers remorse. And then there's OzBargainer's remorse!! xD

        • @Kangal: haha sure is! 😂 all these people who received upgraded models are making me regret more 😂

        • +1

@KimTaeyeon: I want to buy this because I like the red colour

        • +1

i have the red it actually looks good in real life haha

        • @KimTaeyeon: Just got them to make a custom listing with black color

    • +5

      Red is faster

      • Add racing stripes to make it even faster.

        • +2

          And speed holes.

        • Fake turbo blow off valve.

        • @xoom: Bonnet scoop, side-shirts with wider rubber sticking out the side arch's would look cool..

        • cut thru Milo Tin cans to the vents!

    • Dell's own website is doing the same 20% off now and you can choose Black version. If you chat with the sales, may able to get the price down to $1187

  • This or the Lenovo e570p deal with Amex?

    • +6

      This all the way

    • +4

      Lenovo 570p..why ?

      • 512gb SSD PCIE2. Dell is not PCIE, it's SSD SATA speed
      • 16gb RAM, this is 8gb
      • Graphic card performs about same 4gb in desktops and 2gb in laptops (lenovo) negligible difference
      • $150 cheaper ($1669-15%-$250 AMEX-7% cashrewards)~$1050 approx with above config (double RAM & PCIe SSD)

Same spec Lenovo 570p machine with 16GB RAM + 256GB PCIe SSD is $967 after all discounts

      • +1
        • The speed difference between the PCIE and Sata 3 should be negligible.
        • The 8GB RAM is enough for today's standards, but I suspect 16GB RAM will become the norm in 1.5 years.

        • The GPU RAM is a different deal. The RAM really matters.
Compare the speed of a standard GTX 680, and a HD7970… the AMD card wins.
Why? Its not because of "FineWine" its because the AMD card gets bottlenecked far less often with 3GB RAM, whereas the GTX 680 gets bottlenecked a lot. In fact, compare it to the GTX 680 (4GB), and that card out performs the previous ones.
2GB is low-end these days, and sometimes not enough to play 1080p.
          4GB is much more futureproof.

Overall, you can't futureproof much with laptops.
Sometimes you can upgrade the RAM and SSD, and even replace the Battery.
However, you can't upgrade the soldered on CPU or GPU.
…and the Dell 7000, you can upgrade the RAM, SSD, and Battery (see teardowns).

        • +3
          1. Speed difference in PCIe & SATA. PCIe is 70% faster, simple google will give you the answer.
          2. We agree
          3. For gaming today most of the games run absolutely fine on 1050Ti 2gb, that's why except Dell all other laptops come with 1050Ti 2GB version of this card, more than sufficient to support gaming with Intel i-7300HQ skylake architecture. All games will run 1080p.
Looking at the price, its not $100-$200 difference, rather is $967 vs $1600

Hence, the price difference is too high to justify buying this, unless you want RED :)

        • @Jabberwocky: thank you very much

        • +1

          @Jabberwocky:

          1. The PCIE speed is theoretical, in day to day, it shouldn't hamper the SSD by much, if at all.
          2. Yepp.
          3. Today most games will do 1080p/60 on High, but some games are falling off that list and wanting more memory. You definitely can't do 1080p/Ultra without some titles wanting more than 3.5GB's of VRAM, enough to hamper the R9 280X, GTX 1060-3GB and GTX 970 as well. So you will have to stick to 1080p/Medium Settings and dial-down the textures.
However, developers know most people have/will have 4GB's of RAM… so they will instead settle to that limit. In this case, the GTX 1050 Ti with the 4GB will be much more futureproof and the smart buy.

          4. I don't want the RED. However, I rather get the Dell and add a second stick of RAM to surpass the Lenovo's specs. The SSD is fine, but it can be upgraded too if someone chooses to do so.

But then again, these are gaming laptops and I really don't like gaming laptops. I rather an Ultrabook, particularly if it can act like a tablet as well, and instead house a QuadCore i/HQ chipset… then hook it up to an eGPU with a USB-C ThunderBolt 3 connection/dock. But that's just me, I'm greedy, I want the portability, performance and the (GPU) upgradability.

        • @Kangal: what ultrabook would you recommend around this price range?

        • +1

          @Kangal:

i have the red i bought another stick of 8gb impact ddr4 2400 ($90), and i bought the samsung 960 evo m2 pcie nvme 500gb ($280) and im definitely very happy overall.

      • what is the e570p deal? must have missed it? :)

        • +1
        • @Jimmy007:

thanks mate! I can see the deal and 15% off now.
I was trying to get the spec that Jabberwocky mentioned but i am not 1669 when i add the 512 SSD.
512GB SSD SATA3 OPAL2.0 Is this PCIE as mentioned?

Does the i7 make much difference apparent from being a little ghz faster?

        • +1

          @kingyone:

If you're not doing any sort of CPU based things like rendering, probably not. The upgrade to the i7 is mainly for people that need the 8 threads versus the 4 threads of the i5.

      • +1

The battery life on the Dell is a little under double that of the e570p though, which is very significant for some people.

        • True, I didn't look into that.

      • $967 with Cashrewards and Amex offer for the Lenovo e570p?

        • How???? i can seen to get this config?

        • +1

          @kingyone:
That's why I'm asking. Jabberwocky mentioned that price above but couldn't figure out how exactly.

        • @cheepo:

Let us know if you find out mate!! lol

  • +1

Did anyone end up getting the upgraded i7 Model last time and getting an invoice to.pay from Dell

    • Why would they get invoice to pay for something to which someone didn’t agree or consented to? One person commented on previous post that they got upgraded model. Which I think is due to Dell running out of stock. Most probably that person ordered black color, which Dell still doesn’t have in stock

      • My case is even strange. In eBay order initially they passed a Dell Order number with the upgraded model. As soon as I called to change my address they noticed somehow and cancelled my order without my consent and made me wait 3 weeks to get my order !! I am so fumed that I called , I would have got the i7 Model with 16GB DDR4 2400Mhz which is 1 stick and would have made an awesome deal for $1174

        • Yeah sometimes it sucks. But how would you have known? Did you order black color?

  • +1

Probably can get a full size custom skin to cover the red.

  • Link doesn't work anymore?
    edit: NVM

  • +1

Lenovo 570p is a better laptop and $150 cheaper for Amex card holders

    Lenovo is

-512gb SSD PCIE. Dell is not PCIE, it's SSD but SATA3 speed
    -16gb RAM, this is 8gb
-Graphic card performs about same 4gb in desktops and 2gb in laptops (lenovo) negligible difference in gaming
-$150 cheaper ($1669-15%-$250 AMEX-7% cashrewards)~$1050 approx with above config (double RAM & PCIe SSD)

But as an ozbargain deal price for this item, it's a good find. +1
Compared to Lenovo 570p, it falls short

    • +1

1.3% cashback on this. All those things can be upgraded at anytime but extra 2gb on graphic card can't be upgraded. Plus many prefer dell over Lenovo.

      • This particular model of 1050Ti graphic cards 4gb is used in desktops and 2gb model for laptops. There is negligible difference in gaming experience.
Also taking into account your upgrade suggestions:
Upgrading SATA3 SSD to PCIe SSD = +$300
        Upgrading extra 8GB RAM = +$90
You are looking at $400 increase already on $1200 = approx $1600 machine
Whereas going with Lenovo reduce the SSD to 256GB aand keep 16gb ram etc..
Final lenovo price is $967 delivered.

How will you justify $700 extra for this machine

        • +6

All valid points. However this one is red. Goes faster.

        • 2gb to 4gb is a huge difference. But lenovo deal is a great deal. I would still get the dell

        • @Wallyt99: Yes, that i cannot argue with a logical argument, that's sooo true :)

        • +1

Many games already use 4gb VRAM @ 1080p, especially with AA enabled: http://www.tweaktown.com/tweakipedia/90/much-vram-need-1080p…

With huge textures becoming the norm, more and more VRAM is going to be needed.

        • @Ryballs: valid point , but this comparison holds true if you have screen res greater than 1080p. This machine is 1080p. 1440p, 4k results are good comparison when desktop is being used, not for this machine.

        • +2

          @Jabberwocky:
I was getting bottle neck in GTA 5 with 10080p on 2gb vram, made the change to 4gb and it was great

        • -2

@laga234: on a laptop on 1080p ? Strange as there are quite a few tests online that show how good GTA V runs on 1080p Laptops with 2GB VRAM

        • @laga234: I own an e570p and can confirm that on some games the 2GB VRAM is a bottleneck. I can either put up with textures popping in, or drop the texture quality to get things smooth. This is only on the more demanding games though, and many games now will show an estimate of VRAM usage on the advanced video settings screen.

    • +2

Actually the 2GB VRAM in the Lenovo will affect modern AAA graphical big hitters which can utilize 3-4GB even at 1080p, with 2GB VRAM you will have to lower texture quality and/or Anti-Aliasing and/or post processing effects (In graphicaly intensive games).

I would go with the Dell just because of the 4GB VRAM!

    • +2

The Dell has a 74wHr Battery vs a 47wHr Battery, which is a very big deal. The Dell looks objectively nicer too, even in the red.

  • Got this laptop! Upgraded with 500gb samsung ssd and extra 8gb to make it 16gb. Awesome machine! Got it at $1147 from the previous deal

    • Curious to know what colour did you pick?

    • Is it noisy when just surfing the web, or just playing games or doing something that is CPU heavy?

      • I don't find it noisy at all, 5 browser tabs you don't hear the fans kick in, the vents are big enough so that there's no high pitch sound coming from the fans and this only started when it got graphics intense

        • Thanks!

  • +1

I was given the i7, 16gb memory and 128gb SSD - 1 TB hard drive upgrade from Dell no charge. They emailed me an invoice listing the changes as paid in full. I had ordered the black i5, 8gb memory, 256gb SSD one from eBay for $1147.00 deal. It's heavy and noisy, but runs very fast. I've played World of Warcraft, Fallout 4 and Witcher 3 on it with excellent frame rates, so am happy with it so far.

    • Was trying to connect to you , looks like you don't have PM. I initially got an order confirmation with the i7 and 16GB but order delivered was i5 with 8GB. Any chance you can share your Order # with me.

    • Ultra on WoW? Pretty much the only reason i would like to know before purchasing

  • How is this one in comparison for $879.20 delivered, it was posted here earlier
    Lenovo 15.6" Y700 Gaming Laptop Core i5 6300HQ 8GB RAM 4GB GTX960
    https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/323975

    • +1

The 1050Ti is far superior, and comes with 256gb SSD. Would come down to your gaming needs and price you are willing to pay. If you play games that are graphic intensive and you want to play on high, go with the Dell or Lenovo 570p as jabber suggested above

  • -5

If you're in the market for a gaming laptop… this badboy is pretty cool at $1000 off MSI-GT73VR

    • +1

damn cool with a price tag almost 5k.

      • -3

Not sure why the down votes… it's a bargain at $1000 off :)

  • +2

How about this… Im aware its a different price range
    http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Dell-Inspiron-15-7000-Gaming-Core…

  • Was wondering are they clearing out stock for the new eight gen intel processors?definitely, there will be a refresh down the line considering the reveal is due August 22nd.just cant resist this same deal anymore.

  • Great laptop. Would be good if it was a bit cheaper and without the GPU though. The integrated intel one is good enough for casual games and other media. Nvidia just adds costs, weight, complexity, and drains battery.

    • +1

Look at the Inspiron 15 5000 or 7000 ultrabook series if you want integrated graphics. This is a gaming machine - GPU adds a massive amount of gaming ability along with the weight, size etc.

  • Is it worth to buy XPS15 (spending extra $600) as opposed to buying this?

  • Beware purchasing this laptop - I'm not sure if this is a proper IPS screen? Previous deal - https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/314085?page=1#comment

I received this laptop and it 100% didn't have an IPS screen, just a good quality TN model (which I'm still happy with). Might be best to have this confirm with Dell before purchasing?

Apologies if this isn't the same deal/laptop, but I'm pretty sure it is.

    • +1

I msged Dell through Ebay and they confirmed IPS. I noticed the i5 model specifically states IPS, but the i7 does not.

    • +1

That an old post. They had IPS screens since last deal

    • +1

they have changed to ips screen since last 3 months or so on all of there inspiron 7000 gamin series

      • good stuff - glad this won't be an issue for anyone else buying it :)

  • +1

Novice question here ~ yes, please go ahead and have a chuckle! LOL
I use a computer 8 hours a day in my role and have never bothered to replace my 12 year old HP Pentium D desktop at home because I'm sick of the sight of a PC by the time I get home. The old beast, affectionately know as Bertha, is still okay for typing up job applications, surfing with Chrome and scoff printing off hard copy documents when I need to.
Now in the market for a laptop that will replace Bertha, as I'd like to get into gaming again - not hardcore stuff, more like HOGs, Match 3s and Time Management games that are on Big Fish and iWin.
This looks a great price ~ would it have any problems running the more graphic intensive HOGs and Time Management games? Thanks for any advice!

    • +1

What trickery is this! My PC's name is Bertha…..!?

I haven't played Big Fish games in like 10 years but from what I remember they would probably utilise the CPU more(I played TD games though). I just checked out 'HOGs', Hidden Object Games right? I haven't personally played any of them but I think this PC would eat them up without effort. You could probably get something much cheaper. I daresay even an integrated graphics laptop could handle them, but I speak from ignorance not having played or seen these graphic intensive HOGs and Time Management games.

BTW Clyde as a computer name is taken..

  • +1

can anyone please tell me how to get a black version of it.thanks

    • +1

Hey there, if you want the black one I can give you a Unidays code which gets it down to $1274 and then you'll get 4% CR on top of that, not as good as this deal though.

      • hey doweyy, thanks mate, would be of great help.

        • No worries, it doesn't seem like I can PM you though, try and turn on your PM's for everyone or send me one so I can send you the code!

        • @doweyy:its on now.Thanks

        • Guys, i have ordered through dell website today, selected black cover and was still showing black color and ips display on details before checkout. Chatted with custmer service said they only come with ips panel now.
          Hope it goes well.
Delivery due 1st.will update on display and color.
          Thanks

        • @Marko4:
Just received the laptop.More than happy with the display quality.
          Thanks everyone

        • @Marko4: I received mine today as well

      • They don’t have stock on website either

        • Are you sure? The pictures on the page show that it is black.

        • @doweyy: link?

Yes I made an order few days ago that I canceled when I called in to confirm what color was it, as I didn’t see any option to select color

        • @Jimmy007:

This is the link I was looking at. You're probably right, but the photos show otherwise so was just trying to help Marko out.

In "Colour Choice" I can change it to black and still be able to checkout.

        • @doweyy: I see it now. Not sure why they said they don’t have any stock and only to be able to order red at the moment. May be they are taking back orders?

        • +1

@doweyy: i just got them to make custom listing.
