        • Has anyone in this thread actually bought from both Sydney DJs stores and got the two credits this offer (not in past offers)?

        • @kerfuffle: "Registered Card Members can redeem the offer at each participating VAEFNO retailer location only once, and at up to a maximum of 3 different participating retailer locations."

hmmmmmmmmmm should be two. but from my investigations only one count. something is up

        • @Turd: Purple said that maybe they're going off ABNs or something

        • +1

@kerfuffle: Hmm dunno.. I went to two different MJB's and only got one credit for one.
I think someone stuffed up somewhere. Might give them a call or so once this whole promo is over

        • +1

Just enquired through AMEX Connect (bank issued AMEX here), uploaded receipt and approved a manual credit

        • +2

          @kerfuffle:

I can confirm that you get the two credits from the 2 DJ stores (Market St and Elizbeth St). The 2nd credit from Market St popped up in my Amex account this morning after making the gift card purchase 2 days ago.

  • How people are getting 3rd credit?

Is there any better option after Westfield and Myer?

    • David Jones is another popular choice, as per many comments in this thread

    • Take a trip to Melbourne.

  • Does anyone know whether you can purchase the Coles Myer giftcard and then use that giftcard to purchase a Toys r us one at Coles? Or is there a rule preventing you from purchasing a giftcard with a giftcard?

    • +1

The system at Coles allows it, but staff will not allow it if they see it. You also cannot split payment, otherwise it will trigger an error which requires an attendant to come and assist.

In summary, this would be the best way to do it:

      • Grab Toys R Us GC at Coles, go to self check-out
      • Pay with GC that has more than the value of the GC
      • Purchase will not require attendant's intervention, provided your GC has more than the value of the GC
      • +3

From my experience, purchase of any type of GC at Coles will require staff approval (for example, Coles prepaid Mastercards I purchased yesterday), but no issue with paying with Coles Myer GC or Coles GC as you pointed out above.

Just to add, the new Woolworths system will also require staff attendance for GC purchase but there is no issue with split payment, and T&C has not been updated to say no GC purchase with GC.

        • the first approval is for the staff to write the issue date on the gift card

        • Actually yes you're right. I forgot about that step. It almost seems like an unnecessary "verify that customer is buying a gift card" step because it's not like they're doing anything at this step..

      • I agree. this has been my experience as well.

  • What do people use DJ gift card for? Everything so expensive there!

    • +2

To buy things that David Jones sells?

    • +2

DJ does have really good sales from time to time, but more importantly, the price matching is relatively easy.

  • Hey everyone,
I'm planning to head to Sydney city later today to get some of the Westfield gift cards. Where's the best place to get them? :)

    • In Westfield Sydney? :/

      • any particular concierge desk?

        • No. They both sell Westfield Gift Cards …

        • -1

          @kerfuffle:
what about Coles Myer gift card?

        • @claudeal: go inside the cosmetic department from Pitt street, go towards 10 o'clock near the Oroton counter, there is a cashier hidden there selling gift cards

      • from Pitt street go inside Westfield from GAP, there is a concierge, you need to show photo IDs if you try to split payments, that's $100 gift card split into two Amex cards

        • should of rephrased to where it'll be easier to purchase T_T as both cards are not under my name.just came back and recommend heading straight up to top level. The girls there did it for me without any questions asked! they even said a man came earlier today and split payment between 13 cards

        • @claudeal: You're talking about Myer GC right? I thought Westfield GC would only allow splitting to 2 cards.

        • @claudeal: wow 13 cards. How people manage to get so many cards…

        • @Tipu: 4 amex amex max, x 5 = 20 amex amex possible, + bank AMEXs nowdays only NAB x 2 and Westpac x 1, cba amex thus total maybe max 24 amex per person, thus maybe 48 amex for a couple

        • @Tipu: who knows.. But imagine the savings! :o

  • Surprised no one has pointed out that this AMEX deal actually yields one of the best discounts for iTunes Gift Cards which are widely available at Myer (assuming also the likes of DJ and possibly others). There's an exact $50 denomination iTunes GC which equates to 40% off, better than any if not most deals I've seen of late. So, if you run out of GC's to buy, perhaps this is one to consider?

    • +5

DJs don't sell iTunes gift cards and I think feihong pointed out pages ago that it would be better to buy a Coles Group and Myer gift card from Myer then use the Gift Card to buy iTunes credit at Coles or Officeworks when it goes on sale (or something along the lines of that)

    • +1

So in other words, it's only best if you need it immediately.

Even then, maybe better to buy Coles Myer GC, go to Coles and buy it and net yourself some FlyBuys points (iTunes GCs do earn FlyBuys right..?)

      • Only do so when Coles has 15% off iTunes GCs :D BTW, better buy a $50 The Perfect Gift Card as of today and earn yourself 2000 flybuy points, and pay with Coles Myer GC!

        • Agree with all the comments here for maximum savings, just I've found buying GC with GC at Coles sketchy at best, I know there are reports of it working with self-checkout, but I've also found the staff hovering at self checkouts now to be a little more vigilant, peeking over to see what payment type has been used if they spot a GC purchase. I know it's not a ozbargain thing to say, but for the effort of potentially extra few flybuys points, I'd invest more time in finding other bargains. Given the 2000 flybuys bonus isn't bad, and if you manage to pull off purchasing GC with GC when iTunes have 15% off at Coles it would be awesome, but certainly no guarantee it would be successful and may require multiple goes if unlucky.

  • Hey guys, I just purchased Coles myer GCs at the Sydney Myer store, but no confirmation email for both cards. Anyone else have this issue?

    • I purchased 2 in Myer Melbourne and got confirmation mail seconds after. Assuming your spend was $50+, I think it should come sooner or later (sometimes the emails don't work properly).

    • Make sure you purchase at Myer on the Pitt St Mall side, not the other side!

      • Where exactly is "Pitt St Mall side" that you mentioned? I bought from the counter at ground level where they sell cosmetics, is that ok?

      • +3

Sydney cbd myer only have 1 side. The whole buildings are the same myer.

      • Plus Pitt St Mall has two sides.

    • I bought one this afternoon… no email yet either (also Sydney City Myer)

    • Bought a $150 Coles Myer GC today at Sydney Myer, received 1 confirmation email but still missing 2. 2 of the cards I used are supplementary (both manually registered) though so maybe that's why.

      • Do you mind me asking what time have you bought your Myer GC? Some people here including myself who bought Myer GC around lunch time today still haven't received the emails…

        • About half an hour ago. Received the first email confirmation instantly.

  • The two westfield GC transaction just somewhat mysteriously showed up as two different merchant (i.e. Westfield Sydney Central & Westfield Sydney).

    • That's always been the case. However still haven't received a credit for the 2nd transaction :(

      • cynix, did you use all your 9 cards to purchase 2nd set of Westfield GC?

        • Yeah I did… in hindsight I probably should've tried one first and waited for the email before going all in.

        • @cynix: Have you (or are planning to) written to AMEX to get 2nd credit?

        • +3

@illumination: Before I purchased GC's from the two Westfield locations in Sydney I called Amex to confirm they are considered as seperate retailers and that I would get the credit for both. They placed me on hold for a few minutes to check and came back to confirm they are definitely seperate locations and credit will apply to both. I asked them to make a note of the call on my file just in case I need it to get a manual credit for the second location.

I purchased yesterday and like lots of folks I only got an email from the first location. The transactions are not showing on my account yet so I'll give it a few days and check what credits have been applied.

        • @gimjam: Thanks for the very detailed reply! That's quite smart, actually. I may do the same..

        • @gimjam: What's the phone number that you called?

        • If you own a bank-issued card, go to www.amexconnect.com.au and select Contact Us from the top right hand corner. You can then fill out the form for assistance.

      • +2

2nd transaction just got credited. Manual credit applied on Tuesday, colour me impressed with the speed. Sent picture of the receipt with only retailer's name, address and the credit card transaction part of the receipt (folded the receipt so doesn't show what's being purchased).

        • folded the receipt so doesn't show what's being purchased

          LOL nice

        • Is it bank issue amex or amex amex card? If it is amex amex card, which email address to send the query for 2nd westfield credit? I know Bank issue amex can send from amex connent.

        • +1

          @Purple: Bank unfortunately

  • +1

Just FYI, Aesop at Myer Sydney City is having 10% off purchases for today only.

  • +1

Is anyone able to confirm whether or not they purchased Westfields GCs from the two locations and received either an email or the $20 back for both locations?

    • yes. answer is on two comments before yours.

  • +2

There doesn't appear to be much mention that the Microsoft Store is included for those in Sydney. I bought a $50 Xbox credit with no issues and a confirmation email came through from Amex pretty much instantly afterwards.

So for those that have gone digital for their Xbox collection it's pretty good value.

  • T&c's say Gift card purchases are not eligible for $20 statement credit offer.. but staff at Myer tell me that lots of people are doing it. Anyone know if you can buy gift cards and get credited ?

    • Yes. I got the credit for my Coles Group and Myer Gift Card which I promptly blew on my Opal card

      • How can you use Coles Myer GC to top up Opal?

        • By going to Coles …

        • @kerfuffle:

Haha i didnt know you can do that! So just go to counter where they sell ciggies and ask them to top up opal there?

Can i use westfield GC at coles in a westfield mall to top up opal as well then?

        • @OzFrugie: Yeah but only at Coles that do Opal top-up. Go use the Opal retailer locator to find a Coles that does Opal top-up

  • Westfield charges 2.95 for gc?? Is that right

    • yes

  • cannot see Myer Pitt St on the list now. Is it still available to buy the GC

    • It is
Just bought minutes ago and received emails

Also, Westfield are allowing to split on any number of cards. As per the girl there, it's allowed Today only !!!

I first visited the one next to Microsoft and got 2 x $150 (paid with 3 cards on each transaction)

Tried my luck asking for $300 with 6 cards & no issues (at Sydney central plaza concierge)

      • It is your lucky day. I was there today at 11am, only allow to split 2 cards.

        • I reckon they changed the terms in the evening as it was all happening and colourful there !

      • Also, Westfield are allowing to split on any number of cards. As per the girl there, it's allowed Today only !!!

What?! What time? I was there at about 8pm and she was saying (as everyone else here has suggested) that it's 2 per card..

        • 6:40 PM at Westfield Pitt street where I used 3 cards in 2 transactions($150 each) and around 7 PM at Central Plaza(George st.) where I got a $300 card with 6 cards in 1 transaction.

        • @spk: Aw I'm jelly.

Assume you didn't get the email for the one at Central Plaza though right?

Central Plaza - is that the Westfield Concierge below Myer (near T2) that you're referring to?

        • @illumination:

Correct, I haven't received email for Central Plaza

Central Plaza - is that the Westfield Concierge below Myer (near T2) that you're referring to?
          Yes, that's correct.

  • Anyone know if this works online purchase with Myer.com.au?

    • +1

      no only city stores.

      • And only in Sydney and Melbourne

  • how can you sweet talk to get a westfield staff to let you split card payment? tried last week they all brutally rejected and ask to get the cardholder to physically get to the desk to do purchase. got 5 cards total for all of us

    • +1

I assume everybody doing split card payments have their own name on the cards. I did split payment there and they do check all the names on the cards.

      • They didn't check mine yesterday

        Probably cos of the crowd

        • I guess it depends on the staff you get too, they allowed me to split one gift card over 6 payments as opposed to only two per transaction a lot of the others have been getting here.

    • Go next time for a nicer staff.

  • I bought a $50 Coles Myer gift card on the 31st of Aug. No email and rebate. :(

    • Did you register your card? And buy it in either Myer Sydney City or Myer Melbourne City? I bought a $50 Coles Group and Myer Gift Card on the 31st too and got the credit but I registered my card number and bought it at Myer Sydney City …

      • I registered as well. Got it from Myer Sydney George st.

  • Has anyone had issues getting a credit back on their supplementary cards?

I had 3 cards total (2 were supp.), got credit on main and 1 supp. but not the other. They were both manually registered too, and I received a confirmation email for the registration on both cards.

  • +1

Straight up to level 6 Myer Sydney and counter to RHS as you exit lift banks. Coles Myer gift cards available and use Amex $50 then $20 back per card. Willing to allow multiple amex in split payment. Thanks other poster for suggesting.

  • Just curious, has this offer reached its max registrations yet? If not, it's quite surprising. It's very rare a 40% off offers are not being taken up… I wonder this have anything to do with less cards out there due to the government fees changes.

    • +3

Well, only a small selection of people can actually use the offer i.e. people who can utilise the offers in Sydney CBD or Melbourne CBD so that's probably why it hasn't reached max registrations yet

      • +2

This plus the limit for this offer is 100k cards. I find that they usually limit it to about 20-30k (varies based on the offer)

        • Also, this time around ANZ no longer has American Express cards, so it shaves the number even more.

  • is there more than one place/level to purchase WESTFIELD GIFT CARDS 188 PITT STREET & WESTFIELD GIFT CARDS 450 GEORGE?

Also I cant seem to find the place where they sell them at 188 Pitt St?

    • Bought yesterday from the consierge desk near T2 store and got instant message

Route >>Enter Myer side of mall from opposite Gap store >>walk towards QVB on level 1>> desk is right in middle Near to T2 store

      Hope this helps

      • Where's this 580 george westfield? Thought there's only 1 westfield in cbd?

        • +1

188 Pitt Street is the Centrepoint side (ie under Sydney Tower, between Myer & DJ Elizabeth St)
