        • $540 here!

        • 39 different amex cards x $20 = $780? how is that possible? =)

        • @eric402:

          It's 19 cards across 2 stores not 39 cards.

    • +3

Quick update - got the email from WESTFIELD GIFT CARDS 450 GEORGE STREET, but not from WESTFIELD GIFT CARDS 188 PITT STREET. Although the email doesn't get sent everytime anyway and they appear differently in list of transactions (WESTFIELD SYDNEY and WESTFIELD SYDNEY CENTRAL PLAZA). Will await for the credits.

      • same here~

      • how'd you go?

      • -1

Was this a one off offer on the night or through the whole trading period ie. up to 14/9?

  • Eg David jones, do I meet the requirements if i go shopping at DJ Burwood? Or have to be CBD DJ?
    Can someone tell me? Thanks

    • +1

The offer is only available for the city stores. The point of Vogue Fashion Night Out is to promote shopping in the city so no DJs stores in the suburbs (or any other store in the suburbs) will be eligible for the offer

  • can anyone confirm if you can also enroll secondary card to maximise the returns?

    • +1

      I just did

      • thank you bricabrac89!

        • It's the main reason for people to have supp cards - to double up offers.

    • +1

I was told as long the supp card is under a diff card number , you can register it

      • thank you eg51!

      • +3

NAB is the only BANK that will give you a supp card with a unique number now. The other was ANZ but they no longer do Amex anymore.

        • +1

amex amex seems to do that/

  • +4

    For Melbourne:

    MYER
    314-336 BOURKE STREET

You can buy Coles Myer Gift cards. They are usually near the register and a whole bunch of them on the top floor (gifts/books area).

David Jones only sell DJs gift cards. Nespresso could be good if they sell gift cards or are running a promo.

    • +1

Thank you neil. This is exactly my plan. My 5 Plat Edges (1 main + 4 supps) and my partner's Explorer (hopefully she can apply for some supps and have them delivered in time) will come in handy for getting some Coles Myer GCs.
They're so hard to get at a discount any other way, unlike WISH eGift cards which are easily obtainable from Cashrewards and can be used at all WOW stores.

    • Can I buy 3 gift card in 3 different transactions at Myer

      • Only if you have three different cards

        • Thanks for clearing my doubt.

  • So you can BUY $150 worth of gift cards for 90 if you split it into 3 transactions.

A hassle but might be worth it

    • Only if you have multiple AMEXes.

    • +1

      https://merchantgeo.secure.force.com/selectsImage/servlet/se…

      C. Transactions that are not eligible

Transactions where you buy a gift card, store credit or a voucher.

You spend your money and you take your chances.

      Also

Valid up to 3 times and once per participating retailer

So you're not so much splitting it into 3 transactions as splitting it over 3 stores.

      • They have always stated Gift Cards are not included, but they are technically not able to know what you buy as it is simply a transaction of purchase at AMEX's end.
Is there a risk? Sure! But I've yet to hear a single report of an unsuccessful statement credit trigger due to purchase of Gift Cards or Vouchers yet (perhaps someone can prove me wrong here).

And if you have multiple AMEX's (including sup. cards), its easily doable in one single retailer, simply split payment to 3 different cards and you are still staying within the "once per participating retailer" condition.

        • Yes theoretically you could save infinite money by buying infinite gift cards. I see.

  • Does anyone know if for Sunglass Hut I can stack the $25 off $100 spend with this $20 off $50 and get 45 off 100? Not that I need anything from sunglass hut but if there's 45 off 100 I might as well buy something I don't need :)

    • +2

Multiple offers would stack based on previous experience, but in this case the Sunglass Hut offer expires 30/8, before this offer begins.

      • Oh bother! you are right. So no extra extra sunglasses For me. :)

    • sunglass hut 's deal seems expiring soon on 30 Aug, just before this one starts

  • I was previously under the impression that I had to buy everything on either 1 September (Melbourne) or 7 September (Sydney) to qualify for cashback. But turns out, I can get the cashback for any spending in any of the qualifying retailers between 31 Aug to 14 Sept?

But some retailers will have 'extra' offers on the date of thee actual fashion night?

    • +2

      Yes to both questions.

  • Would Myer in Melbourne be counted as a separate retailer to Myer in Sydney? Ie. I could claim the credit at both the Melbourne and Sydney store.

    • +1

      Yes

      • Myer seems to have disappeared from the sydney list.

        • +1

Are you sure you're looking at the right list i.e. the one on American Express's website? Myer won't be listed on Vogue because they have nothing to offer

        • Jus checked. I cn see it under category - women.
I am banking on Myer for the coles myer GC. Great bargain to be had on my 8 cards.

        • @maverick1: I am new to the credit cards game. Why do you have so many credit cards?

        • @z3219825: cause m a miles and point collector. It is a great game to play if played smartly.

  • seems my David Jones welcome offer 40 -15 can combine with 50-20 which means 50 -35, right?

    great discount

  • Did anyone successfully get a credit from both David Jones Market AND Elizabeth Street Sydney stores on the same card last year?
    Thanks

  • Is this offer valid for any store in different suburbs or just in melbourne CBD?

  • Does anyone know if you can split payments for one transaction across several cards? Say I want to buy a giftcard in $200 denomination, can I pay for it across four cards, instead of four transactions? I don't want to end up with four giftcards.

I'm looking at David jones, Myerand Westfield in particular.

    • +1

DJs you can but it'll depend on the sales assistant so go when it's quiet.

      Source: Work for DJs

      • +1

        Can we come to you?

        • +1

If you can find me, sure :P

In all seriousness, just be nice to the sales assistant (really nice) or go to Customer Services. If they won't do it, just buy your multiple gift cards then consolidate them into one gift card at Customer Services.

And if you have a heap of AMEXes, please go when it's quiet :)

        • +3

@kerfuffle: I would like to give you and your colleagues a big thumbs up - I personally find it very delightful to shop at DJ!

      • +1

Thank you! Also can I use a Westfield gift card to purchase a DJs giftcard?

        • Yes but only at DJs attached to a Westfield. Plus I'd leave the Westfield Gift Card as it is as you can use it at Woolies and such.

  • +7

Bought gift cards at both Westfield locations in Sydney, but only got instant email confirmations for the first location. Also they would only allow up to 2 payments per gift card.

    • oh ok so you could buy $100 worth of card and split over 2 cards?

      • +1

Yeah. Last year they allowed unlimited splitting but this year they're capping it at 2 payments per gift card. You might be able to sweet talk them into letting you do 3, but I couldn't be bothered to try.

        • Thanks mate - I am going to start with coles myer GC first. Not sure about Westfld GC yet, will leave it for the end.

    • are you getting red or gold ?

      • I got the red ones. Didn't want to pay too much fees since they wouldn't let me buy one big GC with 9 payments.

      • +2

The red ones also work everywhere even though they say otherwise.

        • as eftpos?

        • @tidie:

          Well, what's the alternative? Cash?

        • @ronnknee:
so you mean the red and gold cards have zero difference? I thought only the gold ones can be used outside of Westfield

        • @tidie:

Yes, the only difference is that the gold one costs $3 more. They both work the same everywhere* from small shops to big retailers.

*Only place that it didn't work for me personally was Officeworks. Not sure if it was just a bad swipe or their POS is smart enough to reject them.

    • Which one did you go to first?

      • The most important question.

      • +1

I went to the one next to the Microsoft store first.

        • Aka Westfield Sydney

        • Was that you behind me!!??!

        • @Turd:

I was there at around 9:30 this morning. Spoke to a very nice Asian couple and we both whinged about not being able to split payment onto more cards lol

        • @cynix: haha westfield are antsy about it due to the huge amounts of fraud that they had previously. Thus no splitting.

        • @Turd: Not to mention that they check that the card matches the ID provided if purchasing a large Gift Card

        • +2

@kerfuffle: With the amount and volume of this current offer i bet they will now check and match all IDs. Do I have to get an ID for my dog and bring him in to buy the gift card??? He can tap and go!

        • @Turd: Heh, I thought they just wanted to gouge me on the GC fees.

        • @cynix: They dont care about the fee, they are worried and rightly so.. fraud.

        • @Turd: It's reasonable to worry about fraud, but I don't see how limiting split payment could help with that. I'm still buying the same total amount of gift cards, and I'm showing ID when making the purchase, so it should make no difference whether the total GC balance goes onto 1 card or multiple.

        • +1

@cynix: I think limiting splitting is to speed things up.

        • @redwood: Correct. From a retailer perspective, it takes more time to process split payments

        • +1

@kerfuffle: but I'm doing the same number of transactions, so if I'm forced to buy multiple GCs, they'll just spend extra time activating each GC rather than activating just one.

        • @cynix: It's because they need to key in the amount and a lot of times (especially under pressure), it's very easy to stuff up the entire sale and then you have to start over again. I speak from experience having watched DJs staff split tender transactions and not do it properly.

        • Thanks. I went there this evening and did multiple cards (2 per $100 gift card). Very helpful staff.

    • +1

It's weird how they says GCs are excluded yet they list Westfield GC as a participating retailer

      • Maybe they want you to buy valet parking or something (whatever chargable services Westfield offer)

      • I didn't see the gift card exclusion for this offer as for other offers. Where did you see gift cards are excluded

    • Did anyone else has issue with not receiving confirmations? Thinking of whether to do it today or tomorrow

      • I just bought a $50 Gift Card from the Body Shop in anticipation of their 15% off sale on Thursday for VAEFNO and got the e-mail

        • Do we need to use Amex on that night to get 15% off or any type of payment including gift card.
I am planning on getting The Body Shop gift cards as well.

        • +1

@Melbournian: That I'm not sure about but I don't think you do. You can tell us when you try tomorrow :)

        • Whats the 15% off. I did a purchase yesterday. Did I miss out on extra discount

        • @skyanyan: 15% off Body Shop for Vogue Fashion Night Out which was September 1 in Melbourne

        • +1

          @kerfuffle: thanks for the reply

      • Just done the two Westfield GCs. One receipt states charge processed by "Westfield Sydney Plaza" while the other states "Westfield Sydney", but both with the 450 George St address. Both authorisations shown as Westfield Sydney for now, maybe they will show up differently once it's turned into a credit card purchase.

    • i also got email from the first one only. Checked the receipts- invoice address is different - 450 george st & 188 pitt st, however on both receipts payment is processed by 450 George st address. i doubt that i will get $20 back from both now.

      • +1

Well the offer terms does say once per retailer location, and the 2 charges show up as different retailer names, so there's hope yet.

        • Not very hopeful. T&C states it's excluding GCs. If the computer doesn't picks it up and requires manual attention, and your receipt gets the GC entry, then you'll be denied most likely.

        • @redwood: They specifically listed "Westfield Gift Cards" as a participating retailer on their own website, it's hard to imagine that the "no GC" rule could possibly apply. They're probably just using standard T&C wording for all offers.

        • @cynix: I wish it is too. I'd say the wording "Westfield Gift Cards" is extremely misleading if the no GC rule does indeed apply. Like saying Maccas but fast food purchases aren't eligible.

        • -1

@redwood: Yeah I'm sure we can argue this point with customer service if it ever comes to that. But hopefully the credits will be posted automatically. I guess we'll find out in a couple of days.

        • @cynix: The charges will only show up as the one that processes them AFAIK. Wish I am wrong tho.
