Wall Plate, 2xf-Type Connector (TV) and 1xrj12 (Phone), $5.95, Save $2 @ Jaycar

60

Not the hugest bargain around, but might be handy for those who need it. I was looking for a 2 x F-connector wall plate, to move my antenna cable onto the wall plate that already has Optus cable. They were $6.95 @ Jaycar, and the one with the phone socket is $5.95.

For those who get/will be getting FTTN or FTTC NBN, you can connect the phone line up to the RJ12 port.

  • hmm, still a matter of getting all 3 feeds to the same spot, wall plate is the easy bit.

  • Those f type connections are a pain in the arse, might explain the discount. Does anyone actually prefer them?

    • Compared to what? The standard (pal?) type TV connection is often knocked out of the wall by my toddler, so our DVR records an hour of nothing. Now that the f-connector is screwed in that won't happen.

Since I realised you can get the screw-on connectors and don't need a crimper, I'm all about f-connectors. I also replaced my splitter in the ceiling, and put f-connectors on those cables for easy swapping, fault finding, etc. I find them to be easier than the screw-clamp alternative splitter connection.

      • I believe the standard is called a BNC connector. Yes I find them much easier, if it's loose it's probably just very old and worn out. Each to their own, mine is behind a mounted TV so there's zero chance it's going to fall out/be knocked out ever, and I don't have to spend 2 minutes screwing it in and out each time. If they were that good every manufacturer would be using them on the TV and video recorder ends, but that never happened.
