"Balance transfer reverts to cash advance rate of 21.74% p.a.Purchase rate of 19.74% p.a."

seems a bit too much for my liking.

    • What rate is to your liking? Are there any better deals?
I'd prefer to pay it off in full before the 24 months.

So for existing nab customers - do we still have to apply for this card or can we get this BT on our current cab card?

    • Hi punkterfuge,
You can only get the 0% for 24 months on a new NAB Premium card. And you cannot transfer debt from an existing NAB card- it must be from another provider.

  • Could you please confirm when the 24 month period starts? From the time of getting the card or from the time of actually transferring the balance across…

    • Hi manohartvs,
The 24 month period starts from when the account is opened, and the BT must be requested during the application.

  • +1

No Balance Transfer Fee is a good thing too. Apart from 2% if you apply directly. Thanks OP. I Wonder how good the credit score should be to get a "premium card"..?

  • Hmm, what are the chances of getting a balance transfer of say 15k to another bank, then withdrawing the excess money in CR from the other bank cc?

    • I am pretty sure if you ask the same question the same way to the NAB people they say NO. But do this:
Do the balance transfer from NAB. Call the other Bank and say you overpaid it and like to withdraw the overpayment to your linked savings account. This should work.

This only works say if you have $3000 debit and transferred $6000. So you can withdraw $3000. You can withdraw on your own but if you do some banks charge one time withdrawal fee(not interest rate).

    • +1

Yes it works. Don't ask, just do. You need to deposit to a credit card with nothing owing on it to be able to withdraw the entire amount though. NAB will send a BPAY payment to your other card, they have no idea of the actual balance on it

      • Can you explain the benefit of doing this? Sounds sneaky and therefore interesting lol

  • Dammn… just submitted myself to St Geog 14 mths 0% BT (no annual) fees today….

    I'd rather pay $90 for 24 mths

    • +2

      It'd be $180 for 24 months with x 2 annual fees

  • I have NAB Platinum credit card, can I balance transfer from Amex card which was previous balance transfer from another Citibank Credit Card ?
Do they give me another NAB credit card or I can have same credit card.

    • Hi castaway,
NAB has two "Platinum" cards. If you already have either of these cards you might be able to balance transfer for 6 months with 0% interest with a 2% BT fee, but you should chat to NAB directly about this. Doing a BT from AMEX shouldn't be a problem, and it will go on the same card you already have, assuming you haven't already executed a balance transfer on that card.

      • Amex offered me BT for 12 months with 1% fee, 0% interest. So I guess I am not looking for 6 months 2% fee. But thanks anyway.

        • where did you get this from?

  • Hi OP

Just applied and I have to verify my ID at a branch, does that mean it was approved? If not, how long until verifying my ID will it be approved?

    • hey spuderpump,
If NAB need to verify your ID at a branch it has not been approved yet. It will be dependent on the branch, but usually approval is quick and the card will come in the mail with 5-10 days.

  • My approved limit is less than what I applied for balance transfer value?

    • Hey Jinx,
NAB allows balance transfers up to 90% of the approved credit limit. Banks decide on a case-by-case basis what credit limit they'll give each customer, but usually they'll take into account debts, income vs expenses etc.

  • hi so am i able to cancel my current platinum card and join this?

    • Hi mikeyeggwhites,
this will depend on the card you currently have with NAB. If it's an NAB Premium Card then you won't be able to cancel and get this deal. In this case NAB has a regular BT offer of 0% p.a. for 6 months with 2% BT fee. If you have a different type of NAB credit card you can still sign up for the NAB Premium Card to get this deal, although keep in mind that you can't transfer debt between NAB cards.

  • Hi
Can you transfer debt from multiple cards? And does one need to cancel the card after the debt transfer? Sorry never done this before

    • Hi knowwhat,

Yes, NAB allows transfers from one or two non-NAB cards. You do not need to cancel either card after the balance transfer is complete, this is up to you. We've written a guide on how balance transfers work on our site if you're interested in learning more about the process: https://www.finder.com.au/what-is-a-balance-transfer

  • Applied for it last week, opted for a $8K Balance Transfer to Westpac CC. They rejected the application. Never NAB again. Looking to go with CitiBank now …. Heard they are much more lenient in approvals than other banks.

  • I applied for this and was successful, however I have just logged into my account and see a 3% transfer fee?
(totally new NAB customer, and applied via the finder.com.au website link).

    • I did the same as well. Thought the balance transfer fee was waived?

    • Hi snapprhead and KnowingNothing,
Could you both please message me privately so I can get some details from you and I will look into this for you? I was unable to send you a private message.

      Thanks!

      • It would be great of Store rep can provide more details around fees.

        • Hi Pyramid, no problems!

There is no BT fee as part of the 0% for 24 months promotion. The promotion is available if you apply through the finder.com.au link, qualify for the promotion and apply for the balance transfer at the time of application.

However, if you don't qualify for this promotion and instead go for the standard 0% for 6 months offer, there is a 2% BT fee.

Here are the other standard fees for this card:

          • Annual fee of $90
          • Cash advance fee of 2% or $2.50 (whichever is greater)
          • Late payment fee of $15
          • Currency conversion fee of 3% (charged if yo make a transaction in a foreign currency)
    • +1

The fee has since been reversed by NAB.

  • How come it says "0 %
    P.A.
standard balance transfer rate for 6 months^. 2% balance transfer BT fee. "

    and important info also says..

^ After 6 months, any unpaid balance transfers will attract the standard cash advance rate (currently 21.74%p.a as at 17 July 2017). Interest rates are subject to change and available at nab.com.au. Interest free days on purchases do not apply while you have a balance transfer. Minimum monthly repayments must be made by the due date each month. The one off balance transfer fee of 2% is calculated on the amount transferred and is charged to your NAB credit card account when your balance transfer is processed. Standard balance transfer rate and term may be varied or withdrawn at any time. Not available in conjunction with the Balance Transfer Special offer.

Isnt it 0% for 24 months with no BT fee?

    • Hi Turd,
If you apply through the finder.com.au link, qualify for the promotion and apply for the balance transfer at the time of application you will receive the 0% for 24 months offer with no balance transfer fee. The 0% for 6 months with 2% balance transfer fee is listed under the 'Standard Rates and Fees' section for this card, meaning that if someone doesn't qualify for the promotion e.g they already have the card or they didn't apply for the BT at the time of application, then the 0% for 6 months with 2% balance transfer fee is offered.

The important info section you've pasted is applicable to the standard rates and fees section. There is a separate important information section above this on the NAB page which talks about the 24 month offer, which you can read below:

*Offer commences 17 July 2017. For approved applicants who apply online for a new personal NAB Premium Card by 31 August 2017. The balance transfer interest rate will apply for a 24 month statement period from account opening. After the 24 month period, any unpaid balance transfers will attract the standard cash advance rate (currently 21.74% p.a. as at 17 July 2017). Interest rates are subject to change and available at www.nab.com.au

Special promotion balance transfer must be applied for at the point of full card application. Interest free days do not apply while you have a balance transfer. Minimum monthly repayments must be made by the due date each month. Offer is not available when closing/transferring from another NAB credit card account, in conjunction with any other NAB credit card offer or with Employee’s Choice.

Let me know if you have any other questions :)

  • Hi , just received my first statement and have been charged a bt fee. Also is 20 months interest free not 24.. I applied through the link in the post

      Hi sasangeleus,
I've just PM'd you to get some details so I can forward the issue to NAB.

  • I applied via your website and yet i was charged 3‰ bt fee :(

    • Hi Creeps_bay,

I've PM'd you for more details and will forward the issue onto NAB directly.

  • Also applied via website a few weeks ago, just checked transfers and was charged 3% BT fee, appreciate a PM rep.

    • Hi Soothsayer,

      Not a problem - I have PM'd you.

  • Hi,

I have tried to apply but get to reject?

Just wondering when requiring the BT, I have to do that when I apply the credit card?

Could I require to have the BT after I receive the credit card?

    Thanks. Appreciate a PM rep.

    • +1

      Hi weweviolet,
The BT must be requested at the time of application in order to qualify for the 0% for 24 months offer.

I'm unable to PM you so if you can start a private conversation with me please send me any other questions you'd like me to help answer.
